Unbelievably bad experience!!! Cries Mar 04, 2011

I have never written a review before, but I think I really need to share my experience with the public.

Food is NOT value for money. If it's that expensive, I'm expecting good food and good service. BUT I got NONE of them!

The waitress suggested uni sushi, which is $180 for two. Comes out it's black and NOT fresh at all. We complained to the manager, she said she will try it herself but she never followed up afterwards.

They also recommended us to eat the "big bean/pea" which is dry and not tasty, and is $60 per pod which only has THREE peas inside. Not to mention - the pods are inedible (refer to first photo).

Chicken wings are so easy to make but theirs are dry and unbelievably bad.

Steamed pork rice is the worst. $120 and looked like left over food!! And no taste!!! (refer to second photo)

They also got our bills all messed up and serving us extra dishes or dishes which we did not order!

Last but not least, the appetizers they served for each of us - they charged us $30 per dish!! PLUS, when I questioned the waitress, she dare tell me that this was Japanese style!!!

Oh, and beware of the floor!! My two friends almost tripped face flat!! They ignored my first friend's comment and not until my second friend tripped did they THEN started cleaning up the floor!!!

FOR SURE, the previous food review is written by Bridges themselves, no way I will give them any points. I will NEVER recommend it to any friends!!!

Okinawan Fine Dining Smile Feb 22, 2011

Okinawa Dining Bridges opened recently in the new Cubus building on Hoi Ping Road in Causeway Bay. Also part of the En Group, Bridges brings in Okinawan fine dining to Hong Kong (the other En restaurants are more on the casual side or are izakayas). They also have a small store specializing in Okinawan products just at the entrance of the restaurant - this is a collaboration with the Okinawan government and the Antenna Group in Okinawa.

Bridges has set lunches ranging from $150 - $280. Set lunches such as Goya Champuru (Stir-fried Pork and Bitter Gourd) and Okinawa Soba Noodles are at the $150 mark, whereas a sashimi rice bowl set lunch and a sashimi set lunch are priced at $260 and $280 respectively. They also have a Shokado Bento (Lunch Box set) at $280 (limited to 15 sets a day) and a Grilled Fish set for $180 (limited to 5 sets a day). I ordered the Shokado set.

After a light salad with sesame dressing, they brought the lunch box out.

The set comes with tea/coffee and dessert. Today's dessert was a yuzu sorbet and a frozen orange jelly.

Even though this was described as a bento (or lunch box) on the menu, this was more like a tasting menu with samplings of Okinawan cuisine. I love how this one set lunch puts forward all the food highlights I had in Okinawa (the seaweed, the champuru, the pork and the beef). Presentation was beautiful and delicate, following the Japanese tradition.

If you plan to eat this whole bento, come hungry! Like a tasting menu, the fullness creeps up on you.
