I have read this place before from a food magazine and i have tried it last week, the buns are very crispy and taste very nice. Although i need to wait for 15 mins for my order, i can see the chef is really taking good care of the quality of each buns and make sure it is crispy and well cooked before serving to their customers.

It just the shop is bit small and a bit hot in there.

Overall, it worth to try $ 20 for 4 buns.

My mum (who is from Beijing) always wanna visit this and find out how it is really that famous and tasty as people said.

Umm.....we walked and walked and found this tiny one. It's like 1pm and not many people queue up there.
We just ordered a box set of shang jie bao.......
Oops, really so tiny, even like smaller than in Shanghai's.
My mum got a bit and looked into it....umm.....BAD
Bad dumpling skin (quite thick), bad stuffed meat and tasteless (guess that's storaged one instead of fresh and raw)mad

So tried once is enough for us~~~sad

Went yesterday after seeing the Top 10 of December list right here on OP. The pics made the "San Jeen Bao's" (SJB) look really good, nicely sized, crispy bottom, minimal soup inside. Got there at around 8:30, no lineup, they have a tiny black board telling you when the next batch of SJB's are ready, which is a nice touch. Got 8 SJB's for $32 which was a good deal, my mate got 4 SJB's and 4 "siu long bao's" (SLB). The place is small, no seats, theres some room on the left for maybe 6 people to crouch and eat-in.

The food comes on time (8:40 eta written on the board), looking great. I take a tiny bite anticipating a little soup then BAM, a chunk of soup splashed onto my new suit. Can't cry over spilled milk. So I take a serious bite once again, and............the meat has literally no flavour, and I mean none. You can also make a case that the "skin" is much too thick, and they're not bite sized, which is what tradition SJB's ought to be.

Mate's SLB's came, immediately you can tell it won't be good as the skin is mad thick. Took a bite, once again, no flavour (it's the same batch of meat). Contrary to other restaurants where the SJB's are packed with soup cuz they're too lazy to make different batches of meet for the different Bao's, this place is a complete reverse where the SLB's have very little soup. So all in all, by the time we were finished, we were

    1) disppointed
    2) confused
    3) mad (mainly me.......cuz of the suit)

    don't bother going btw.
