Panda Froyo for the win! Smile Feb 02, 2012
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
I have tried lots of different flavours of froyo from various stores in Hong Kong and am confident in saying that Panda Froyo offers the best quality froyo and is the most reasonably priced frozen yoghurt around. It is also a hot favourite for students to visit as soon as school has finished for the day.

Once you enter the shop, you have a choice of selecting how many grams of froyo you'd like too have. Each 100 grams costs $13. After you have been given your tub of froyo (the staff weigh and measure your tub for you, unlike in other stores where you have to blindly guess how much you've put in), you can go nuts and choose as many different toppings as you'd like to accompany your froyo base.

While some people look for a huge range of hideously artificial and sugary froyo base flavours, such as creme brulee, green tea and red velvet to name a few, Panda only has one - original. This is made with Hokkaido milk which gives it an extra creamy and consistent texture and doesn't melt after two minutes. I've found that with many other shops that serve froyo, it is far too watery. I also find that after trying a couple of the more exotic flavours it all tastes the same. What I like about Panda is that they keep it simple and don't try too hard to wow the public.

Toppings range from chocolate chips to condensed milk, to gummi bears and crushed Oreos. You can be as adventurous as you like and mix as many different textures, flavours and syrups together to create a froyo wonderland. After you've loaded up on whatever tickles your fancy, you put it on the scale and weigh it according to how heavy your overall tub is.

The shop itself is quite small, so if you're looking for a table to sit down with friends, you're out of luck. The shop's decor is (obviously) panda themed and there are lots of cute pandas all over the walls and on top of shelves to entertain you whilst you wait for friends to choose their toppings.

The staff are very friendly and speak pretty good English. They even have a 'rewards' card where you collect 10 stamps (a stamp is given each time you go there and buy a tub of froyo) and get your eleventh tub for free. I am currently on my second card and have almost filled it up. It is that good!

It is also very close to Mong Kok's main shopping area (i.e. Ladies Market, Mong Kok Computer Centre and Dundas Street), which makes it a convenient, cheap and tasty snack after a long day of shopping. If you want to get your froyo as fast as possible, make sure you beat the school crowd. It is usually teeming with high school students once the final bell for the day rings.

    So in summary:

    GOOD THINGS:

    - Excellent value for money
    - Variety of tasty toppings
    - Friendly staff
    - 'Rewards' card

    THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND:

    - No seats to kick back and relax
    - Shop is quite small and crowded, especially after nearby schools finish

It's definitely worth a try! Panda Froyo for the win!

well, as i saw many boxes of 3.6 hokkodai milk in the shop
i think it is the selling point
    so i have a try

hmm, $13/100g is very reasonable price!! smile
    service is ok also~

yet, i cannot taste any 3.6 hokkodai milk
    may be it's too sour~
so i think it is kind of waste to use 3.6milk sad

    a bit disappointed sad

The frozen yogurt in Panda House is not bad
Unfortunately, only 1 flavour is available (today is original)
Also, the amount of frozen yogurt is a bit inadequate

The toppings are good, esp the mochi, which tastes good with good texture
The price is reasonable, $13 for 100g

The shop is too small and crowded

tongueThis fro-yo shop is a bit tricky with its location (as i seldom walked towards that street)

Getting into it, the waitress was giving me a bite to try~It's not that sour compared with Crumbs, but still penetrating sour mood~

I was sure to go for it.

Found not many choices of topping to choose from, i simply focused on picking green tea and chocolate mochi, little bit of aloe and rainbow sprinkles~~~

I love them all, espcially the green tea mochi (so chewy and chulky as well)tongue

It costs me $29 only for a big bowl~~~~~~~~~I definately would try again and again if i go to MK~haha!tongue

Walk Passed this Panda house few times, today decided to come for a Froyo treat after work. lol

There are lots of Panda decorations in the shop, very cute indeed.

$13 for 100g,Toppings added by ourselves, not many choices and the chocolate Mochi seems too hard....
Froyo itself doesn't taste too sour and the texture is quite thick enough (LIKE)!!!!

Especially like the Valentine's Cup, it's really cute!!tongue

free toppings Just OK Feb 09, 2011

    their froyo is milky.........
not really froyo but instead that's more like ice cream in CRUMBS........
too heavy which 100g will be too full..........
but they provide free toppings such as chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, green tea powder, black sesame and strawberry sauce.........
will only return when wanting a lot of quick sugar into the body..........
because you can add as much syrup as you can........
but the froyo base is not at all attractive and not sour at all..........
that's really like eating mcdonalds ice cream cone..........
    but........
    an expensive choice.........
    as that's $13 VS $2.5............

the shop is a little bit hard to find....
took a while to get there from mong kok mtr station
as it was around 4 in the afternoon when i got there, there was heaps students inside already.
waited for about 5 mins til it was our turn

we asked for around 100g of froyo each
and then we can choose the topping ourselves
    i got some of everything
    and it ended up $26
quite cheap i think, as it was only $13 per 100g

    the fruit wasnt quite good....
the strawberries were a lil sour, mango was ok, though a lil watery
the mochi was best, soft and chewy and goes really well with the yogurt
the yogurt was thick n creamy with a strong milky taste

i think this is the best froyo shop i hv tried in hk so far^^
will absolutely come back again! lol
