Try to rip off local neighbors  May 08, 2012

Stopped by after work to pick up some Roast Pork, and each time the guy chopping the roast meats try to rip me off. One time, I asked for $50 of Roast Pork, and he chops up $100 and says "only a little more - here you go, $100" What made me really angry was that he chopped up a very similar portion to a young lady for $70.

This evening, I stopped by and asked for $30 of Roast Pork just to add a little side dish for dinner. He says "here's $70, only a little more..."
But this evening, I didn't stop by the ATM and had run out of cash. So I said politely to him "sorry, I don't need that much - can I have less please?"

He gets angry and slams his knife into the carving wood. Then he says "Can't be cut! No sale!"

Unfortunately, I had promised my wife to bring home some roast pork, and so I said "alright, if you insist then I would need to walk up to the ATM and back - but looks like you want to close your shop now since it's getting late... so what do you want to do?"

He then takes the roast pork and cuts $50 for me.

I believe that businesses who do not trade fairly should not be supported or endorsed.

I am boycotting this restaurant forever, even having frequented it for 5 years.

Have tried this place for few times. It is always busy during the lunch/tea time hours. The setting is not welcoming as it is a small, tiny place that will squeeze its visitors/guests in few tables only. However people enjoy going there for their authentic and yummy barbecue pork, grilled pork and chicken, etc. in Cantonese style. The services was alright, generally friendly. tongue

Used to come here a lot for their Roasts and Char Siu especially when I lived around the area.

To be honest, I didn't even know the shop name and never thought it was even remotely famous and recommended - but in hindsight should have trusted the tastebud.

Definitely one of the best Char Siu's in town, prepared the traditional way. Bit of charred taste, sweet but not too sweet, great meat quality, etc.

Agree with comments below - a lot of so called 'expert' and 'branded' and so called 'famous' Char Siu places are so over-rated. At least here, you get the real deal!
