Very poor telephone manner  Sep 15, 2010
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
I made a call just to check the oysters varieties, and my only question was "what kinds of New Zealand oysters do you provide" during the entire phone conversation.

The first guy had almost no knowledge about oysters, and could not be bothered to check for me. He passed to another guy who replied that they do provide several NZ oysters, but unable to name them except Coffin Bay after I asked for more details.

His remarkable reply was "how do I know siu jei?" in a very RUDE, IMPOLITE TONE. Well I do believe that he at least can give me a better answer like Bluff oysters, Rock oysters or Pacific oysters if he puts effort into his work.

I was absolutely let down by the two restaurant staff I spoke to on the phone since they did not show any respect and will never think about to make a first visit.

I have bought a coupon from FunShare.com before which we can eat for $400 by paying only $200...therefore came here with my bf to celebrate our 2 years anniversary

Have booked the table at 7:30 and we didn't need to wait at all...was arranged to sit at a table next to the open kitchen...the atmospher was quite good and the waiters are really friendly and helpful...

    We ordered:
    - 炸雞條薯條: overall quite good, but not very special
    - 豬扒: very good...especially with a bit of fat...but a bit overpriced $228
    - 鵝肝野菌石頭飯: the BEST risotto we have ever tried...the foie gras is so fat so juicy so soft
    - 流芯朱古力心太軟: had high expectation of it but too sweet..although we only ordered a small portion but still we couldn't finish it

    Total is $754 deduct the $400 coupon so it's $354 for 2...

We will definitely return to try other dishes againsmile

After reading the positive feedback on Openrice, I decided to bring my BF here for his bday dinner. I booked a table for two around a week ago, yet when I arrived there, they told me I didn't do the booking. The waitress kept on asking my mobile number, my surname and whatsoever... finally another waitress came by and told us to have a table anywhere. This had left me an EXTREMELY BAD impression: (1) I DID book a table, as I recalled they have asked me whether I got a coupon (and they repeated the time & date which was right at THAT time), (2) I don't know why they dwell on my name and mobile number for more than 5min... there's only <7 names on the list and heck... obviously that pissed me off.

Then they gave us a table which is right next to the open cocking table.... so hot over there. I asked to change to another table... well, and I ended up getting a table right next to the kitchen door. I wanna stress that today is a very rainy day with "Black rainstorm signal". Definitely not a full house...

Anyway, fine. I can't leave now. So I shrugged my shoulders and gave our orders.

Food-wise... the food is quite good. The bread with dried tomato butter was delicious and special! Foie gras risotto was a highlight, very much recommended. Interesting to eat rice crackers from risotto!
We had two appetizers. Salmon Corn Crackers- above average. Even my BF who hated fish and corn found it quite tasty. The other one was cheese with onion and cracker - well, rather tasteless.. but I quite like the cheese texture.

Oh, and another sad thing: the waitress was tooo keen on clearing the table! I was still eating the bread and she took away the dried tomato butter sauce............

well, I guess this is HK service... mad

overall, food is above average, but service is... blah.
i never offer a second chance for places with bad service... unless the food is extremely good (like Australia Dairy in Jordan)

We came in a group of 10 to celebrate my friend's birthday. To be honest, I never knew this restaurant exists, perhaps it's because their entrance is so hidden. I took the window seat, nice watching people on the street while eating.

Since we were too lazy to think what to order, we JUST let the staff to decide what to give us. We had chopstick:

Wine - few bottles of white wine
Mussels mad - good, but that will be even better if the mussels are larger
Oyster - ok smile since it's not a oyster bar, I don't expect too much
Favaca Jaha seafood - lol highly recommended
Foie gras rice - not bad tongue
Pizza like wrap - I forgot the name..quite special but I wonder did they use goat cheese, coz I don't really eat lamb
Rid eye steak - smile nicely cooked in medium rare, good for sharing too
Cream mushroom pasta - smile personally I think it's too creamy
Seafood squid ink pasta - mad I like this more than the mushroom pasta *bias to tomato sauce maybe
Chocolate molten cake - tongue it's special for it's flour-less recipe, but it's a bit too rich for me
Tiramisu - nothing special about this

HOWEVER, the table was small and the stool was tall which is not that comfortable. Also, they serve food very slowly, like it took 3 hours for us to finish our meal. umm, I don't mind tho, I love eating slowly^^

*and there's a outdoor table for smokers

This turns out to be a bar... with stools and everything... in other words, definitely not suitable for ladies in high heels.

I had no idea, and it was a big no-no as soon as i walked in. and i already made up my mind: "this is gonna be the first .... and the last time"

There was a set lunch. choice of soup or quisadilla + main course + dessert + tea.

The food was actually not bad. the portion was just right. good for people who try to watch her weight.

unfortunately, the stools were way too uncomfie. no matter how reasonably the price was, no matter how okay the food was, there is gonna be no next time.

Went here today for lunch with my friend since it's a brand new restaurant and wanted to try it out.

Well the service was utterly disappointing as we were seated at 1:15pm and waited till 1:55pm for our main course!

We both ordered the pasta set - $98 (with discount). I went for the salad, which was nothing special. She went for the soup which could have tasted a bit more like spinach.

Also, as for the pasta, we both had the same one, which was creamy and a bit like carbonara, but this pasta tasted far too creamy for me and the portion was too small.

The bread here was good, but took far too long. We kept on asking them for the bread and service was so disappointing. They had lots of waitresses, but I guess they didn't have enough chefs.

Anyway, all in all, the food here is pretty good, but the service is far too slow. Wouldn't come here next time as it's far too inefficient.
    Nice bread though
