Thanks to Connie for getting me these Turkish delight and Red Current puffs.

    Turkish Delight:

Whenever I have Turkish delights it always reminds me of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
I used to think it was made up, but it really did exist.
The Turkish Delight at Marks and Sparks is the best because it tastes different and as well as rose there are other ingredients.
The sweetness is just right and the jelly filling is quite firm.
There are two in a pack, same as other standard Turkish delight brands, except for the one in metallic magenta wrapping.

    Redcurrant puffs:
(Thanks to Connie for these pictures because the ones I took disappeared from my harddrive)

These are my favourite too and they are really popular in Hong Kong, they sold these when they did not have the full food range.
They are flakey and buttery with chewy red current jam in the middle.

Savoury Snack Just OK Nov 10, 2011

Visited the store with a colleague who was born in London and had been working in Hong Kong for several months. Originally planned to look for some shoes only. But beyound of expectation, my colleague found a savoury snack that he loved to eat in London and suprisingly, it was there in Hong Kong.

Actually, it was my first time try to this kind of English food. A bit salty but still fine. Could feel that it was a bit oily as we ate it right out from the fridge. My colleague said that the English people always serve this food cold. However, if possible, I prefer to have it hot so that it will not be that oily feel and more like sausage roll.

not the best for sandwiches Just OK Jun 03, 2011
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
    Pack of 3 sandwiches:

    * Smoked ham & mustard :- could do with more mustard
    * Egg & cress :- too little egg, and too much cress… the egg was also a bit too dry, in need of more mayo/salad dressing
    * Prawn & mayo :- this tasted the best out of the three.

Note: the bread for all 3 sandwiches was rather dry and hard, unlike at Prêt . The filling inside were also notably less than that at Prêt. (I’m comparing it to Prêt because that’s probably my go-to place for a take-away sandwich…)

And, I didn’t really like the fact that butter was used in all three sandwiches… it’s not really necessary when the ‘gourmet’ filling is supposed to be really good…the butter had also gone hard and lumpy, and didn’t add much to the taste.

However, I did appreciate the combination of different sandwiches in one pack, which you can't get at pret.
