Average ramen Just OK Nov 09, 2010

Took my mom to have Domon Ramen today. Suddenly remember I've got a discount card and I havent used it and mom likes Ramen so I chose this place. 15% off just $120 for 2, not bad.

2 sets, one pork with soft bone and the other pork Ramen.
    - Pork with soft bone Ramen: Tasted good. Not salty but a bit sweet (thats good). I like this one more than the pork Ramen.

    - Pork Ramen: The pork is think but hard to tear it apart sad

    - Side dishes (go with the sets): 1) Salmon - Fresh and fleshy! 2) Jap dumplings: OK. I'm not very fond of dumplings but they were fine.

I like the Salmon the most. Pork with soft bone Ramen doesnt taste bad. But the soup is really, really salty. I'd prefer 888, those in 888 are salty but more tasty.

Not as good as TST branch  Just OK Mar 11, 2010
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
Came here for dinner. Was pretty excited since I remember recalling that the TST branch was really good. Got seated immediately, and was surprised at the large seating available inside. However seating is very tight and the space as you keep walking further to the back feels like a backroom than a proper restaurant.

Food: Ordered standard Pork Ramen with Mushrooms. My friend had an Egg Ramen.
Pork ramen was just okay, noodles didn't taste like it was well combined with the soup, maybe not hot enough? Miso broth was okay, not quite there yet, taste came off very single-dimensioned if you can picture that. Came with plenty of mushrooms which were tasty. Pork slice was a bit too dry as compared to the ramen in Japan (but its not a fair comparison I guess...). My friend said his Egg Ramen was just decent.

Service: Decent, pretty quick for food to arrive.

Sizing it up: Definitely not as good as TST place and the environment is so cramped in the back of the restaurant seating. Ramen is not as good as Sapporo near Exchange Square nor Ramen Sanpachi on Hennessy Road near SOGO. I would not come here again, especially that there's so many restaurant choices in that Lee Theatre.

Another choice in Causeway Bay Smile Mar 03, 2010
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
I went to there with my bf last week in dinner time. There were not much people queuing and we got our seat within 10 minutes. We ordered the special set for 2. The set has two ramen and several dishes. The ramen are mini ones and we chose the butter and pork chop. Out of expectation, they are quite much and can be treated as main course. Although the soup of a bit salty, the soup is hot and the taste is good.chopstick

The dishes are sushi, sashimi, fried shrimp with sea urchin and calm soaked with sake. The fish for sushi and sashimi are fresh and tasty. At first, I thought it would be fair only because it’s just dish in set. shocked The shrimp absorbed all the taste of urchin and the mouth feel is solid. chopstick The clam is a bit thin in taste, just fair.

The price is quite reasonable and I recommend it when you cannot find seat in Causeway bay.

Have chance to visit Domon Sapporo Ramen last week for lunch with my family following reference of 蔡瀾.

Together with my family, we have ordered 吉列黑豚豬定食,銀鱈魚定食 and 豬軟骨拉麵.

Time to serve is quite efficient and tidy. Waiter attitude is above standard. However, those "cooks" (because they just didn't know how to cook so they do not deserve to be a chef) are way below standard. First about the 吉列黑豚豬定食, the pork chop was crispy but dry like a piece of wood. The 蒸蛋 comes with the set is very salty, did not have the taste of egg. 銀鱈魚定食 is just okay la. But one big big problem is the rice serve with both 定食 are not 珍珠米 and was not hot. So my wife and daughter suffers from stomachache after that.

The 豬軟骨拉麵 was the worst of all. The soup was a light brown sticky 鹹到苦 liquid that I need to ask for two cups (yes, two cups) of hot water to dilute it. I even can't recognize what the "soup" was made of. The color seems like misu but without any taste, just 鹹, 好鹹, very very 鹹.

As a summary, I will never recommend any body to visit again as the food quality does not deserve the price. Better go to 南記 on the opposite side of the road.

Not Good Cries Oct 05, 2009
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
They finally opened in Causeway Bay and we went to try out their ramen in their first week of opening. We had the 牛油拉麵 and 麵豉拉麵. The ramen at this branch is not good. The soup is not hot enough, the miso soup base is very watery and the taste is not strong enough, and the worst part is there is very little soup in the bowl. And the noodles are not hot since they have been cooked a long time before it's served. The problem is that this branch is very big and they can't keep up with the quality. And the chefs are so green, you can see them struggling in the open kitchen. The TST shop cooks the noodles one by one instead of mass production. That's why the ramen at TST shop tastes much much better. Totally disappointedmad
