Having tried most places along the front in Stanley - and found nearly all to be extremely poor in value and quality - we finally had a good meal at this restaurant. But that was last time, maybe 3 weeks ago. This time we ordered the fillet steak (again) cooked medium - which it was and to perfection (again) . But the pizza was so undercooked I could have remoulded the crust and rebaked a new loaf of bread. The ricotta pasta was hard and way too undercooked. The squid in batter was soggy and a pile of greasy gunk. I hate the idea of restaurants thinking I complain to avoid paying, so after coughing up over $1,000 for food and wine I discussed the problem with the likeable owner. He agreed with all our complaints - but we won't be back. Thank good for Lucys in the Stanley market - our last hope for good food in Stanley.

We went to Stanley on a cold rainy day. After the bad experience last time at the Stanley Main Street, I was a bit concerned that which restaurant we would pick this time. Finally my boyfriend's parents chose this restaurant, coz it looked cozy and best of all, they had heater inside which keep guests warm in the damp cold winter days~

We were not really starving, so we just ordered:

Minestrone della Casa ($68): unlike the usual look which is red with tomato base, this soup was made with basil base which was green in color. With ingredients like celery, carrots, kidney beans, etc, 'it is so special and so DELICIOUS,' exclaimed by the Italian lady~US Beef Nachos ($128): looked crispy and cheesy, the beef was heavy in taste. This kind of dish is often spicy, with pieces of green jalepeno peppers, but this one was not spicy at all, good for us~ Kukulmas Sri Lanka Chicken Curry ($148): the curry was so lovely that you could taste so many different herbs and spices were being used. The rice was half plain, half saffron which definitely enhanced the exotic taste. The chicken was cooked nicely and the curry just made you eat up all the rice. A good choice for the rice eater 飯桶 like me.Drinks were not cheap. Hot lemon water was $35 and beer was $58. But the restaurant was cozy and the service staff were friendly, especially the Indian guy (or Sri Lanka, who knows). They decorated with the 'REAL' flowers, not the fancy but fake flowers. And they used the rock salt and whole black pepper as the condiments on the table. I liked this restaurant and I am sure the Indian head chef must have devoted a lot on the dishes~

I went here with my wife and son, they have an open front so kids and dogs are welcome.

Food was great, served very hot and cooked as requested. They also had a kids menu so the little monster was happy.
We were lucky i guess as we went on a monday evening when the place wasnt full, the chef came out to tell us whats the freshest food of the day!
I had the ceaser salad w/chicken tikka, a perfect combo, a great idea. my wife had the pizza and she cleaned the entire plate.
Our son eats crayons so his opinion is dodgy at best...

Our drinks were perfect, and came quickly. The strawberry milkshake was awsome and deserves a mention. A good bartender.

Overall a great experience, good value, friendly staff. Well worth a visit if your hungry and stuck in Stanley.......

My wife and I were enjoying a day in Stanley and thought about trying one of the restaurants. As we passed Spiaggia, my wife asked if they served nachos. The woman said yes and they have huge portions here. So how could we refuse a huge amount of food. The price was a little high for the kinds of food they had on the menu. I didnt care because we were expecting to do some serious eating. I ordered a pizza and the huge plate of nachos. They food came really quickly, almost strangely quick. I immediately noticed the portion size was extremely small. Now i am comparing this with restaurants like HARD ROCK CAFE, DAN RYANS, RUBY TUESDAYS. The nachos were so small i seriously asked if they gave us something from the kids menu. I was told that there was no kids menu and that was the normal size. The pizza was a little small but seemed acceptable. Now the good stuff, we are going to destroy this food. My first bit of nachos is a little chewy and the beef tastes funny. They microwaved the nachos to melt the cheese. You could taste the microwaved beef and soft chips. The pizza was a little better but it tasted like a frozen pizza, the crust was really soggy.
No one ever came to refill our water or even ask if we enjoyed our meal. I think they already know the food sucks.
This restaurant was a huge disappointment. I dont know how they can compete with the others restaurants in Stanley. They are perfect for the tv show KITCHEN NIGHTMARES.

PS I felt sick all night from my microwaved food. It was so worth 350 dollars.

Please be warned:

1. Strange service: Place is full of incompetent staff. Someone put a bottle of ketchup at the table soon after we'd ordered. We had a cesar salad to start with so ketchup was unnecessary so we assumed it was for the fries as main meal. Ketchup got taken away after starter. And brought back shortly after. A waiter tried to deliver dessert to our table while we were eating our main meals and just looked totally lost but faltered at the table for a long minute. Staff just walking by and just looking at the finished plates.

2. Lasagne: Obviously microwaved with very dry bits on the side - not too much of a problem if actually was good quality but it tasted just like a frozen ready meal. Eat East is far better quality. Shards of bones (3) in the lasagne - quality meat? I don't think so. Worst part - the rank, warm salad covered in garlicky oil on the side. The microbial content in it instantly made me want to throw up. I couldn't even finish my lasagne which says a lot as I have never left any lasagne from any plate in my life.

3. Mussels and fries: Only 15 mussels which were just sank in a cream and onion mixture. No wine just cream and more cream. Fries - there were about 14 very small over fried fries. Browness highlighting the need for an oil change in the fryer. Only saving grace were that the mussels were fresh. phew.

4. 1 starter, 2 mains and a bottle of water - $550 = pricey and not worth any of it.

5. I had to leave the offending place promptly as I fell extremely ill and needed to vomit.

6. Go there at your own risk. Writing on one of these websites is really not my thing, but I wanted to warn people out there of the dangers involved with dining at this restaurant.

p.s I have written this in the most composed way as possible. I am a reasonable person.
My real sentiments are that this is the worst restaurant I have ever been to and no one deserves to go there.

A recent visit to Stanley is not complete without a hearty hefty and huge meal at Spiaggia. I have been there before and Rolf the owner recognised me from the previous visits. He was quick to offer a suggestion - the Steak Sandwich - which I happliy accepted. It was a only a few minutes until an oversized steak sandwich with chips and salad arrived. I often regard a steak sandwich with suspision - I tend to wonder why a perfectly good steak needs to be hidden inside two pieces of bread. My fears were unfounded - the steak was thick and round and had no bone nor gristle. It was all steak, all edible, all good. We are often faced with problems in life and some problems are good to have - like how does one eat a sandwich which is too big to politely fit in ones mouth. The plate was crowded with a generous supply of chips, also known as French Fries. The chips at Spiaggia are crispy with a firm outer shell that has a rough texture of crunchy potato bits on the outside. I like to use a lot of salt on the chips at Spiaggia because the rough texture tends to hold the salt and create a combination of seasoning, potato and clean light oil. The salad was colourful with an assortment of exotic leaves, shapes and delicacies that made me pause and wonder. The entire salad was genorously dosed in Balsamic vinegar. Spiaggia remains a favourite at Stanley.

The Swedish Meatball Spaghetti was bright and rich.

A generous portion of pasta with numerable meatballs and a side order of creamy sauce that allows the hungry or fussy diner to add as much or as little according to their taste. I tipped the whole bowl into my pasta to enjoy the rich fullness. The meatballs were slightly spicy with a full meaty beefy flavour and a ground solid beef texture - there were no grisly bits or waste - it was all meat. Like all ground beef or hamburger, the meatballs were cooked so as to be presented as well-done. I really liked the huge chunk of parmesan cheese, it conveyed such a feeling of trust and generosity, and gave me a feeling that I was welcome to have as much as I liked. So I did, I added about 1/2 a cup! The meal was served hot and steaming from the busy kitchen within a surprisingly reasonable time.

The meal satisfied my hunger and several layers of needs on Maslow's Hierarchy.

Dinner at Spiaggia. The owner is a lively character who politety told us that Spiaggia is beach in Italian.
Spiaggia is warm and inviting. I had a lamb vindaloo that was full of flavour without being overpowered with chili. The meal was a generous portion of with hefty cubes of lamb that were tender and oddly enough, contained only lamb. There were no gristly bits at all. The meal also included at plate of various condiments including a delightful mango chutney and warmed peanuts with papadams; and a bowl with two kinds of rice.
The staff are happy and antentive - always there to ensure the meal is satisfying.
I am not trying to sound like Arnold when I say this but; I'll be back.
