I was looking for a cafe with wifi in cwb on a saturday. A friend suggested this cafe, so here I came.

I arrived at this cafe at a relatively embarrassing time- 6.05pm, when the tea time session had just ended. Happy that discretion was exercised, and the waitress allowed me to order a tea set.

Food
Chocolate banana pastry with house-made ice cream $59 (with drink or soup) (tea set)One could see the ice-cream was melting at a fast pace. The ice cream was house made. It was normal- nothing surprising.
I like the abundance of chocolate. When I cut open the pastry, melted chocolate flooded out. It can't go wrong with banana. Like this simple dish. (I felt that the ingredient won't cost much- want to try out at home!)

Carbonara $58 (a la carte; no drink)We ordered this right after a group of 10 made their order...
The carbonara came in about 30 minutes after our order- and it was delectable (out of expectation, frankly) . I like the sauce- creamy, cheesy and rich. Glad that there was sufficient amount of bacon and mushroom. The spaghetti had good texture- not too soft or too hard.

Service
Basically one order the food and pay at the counter, and the food would be served by the waiter at your table. There was a small corner where you could help yourself with cold/hot water and the dining utensils. There were only 2-3 waiters (who also acted as the cashier and chef)- hence don't expect this is a fast food shop despite the simplicity of food. The service was fair. We stayed comfortably till 1030pm.

Summary/ Next?
This is a good shelter where you could spend a whole day (or night - it closes quite late) with your laptop or chatting with friends with simple yummy food. Would probably be back if I pass by again.

I went to this coffee shop as I read from openrice that the comments is quite good. However, I was disappointed and I will not go there again.

Originally thought that I would receive a friendly service as this coffee shop has a Catholic theme. However, on the contrary, even though there were only very few customers in the shop, I don't find the waitress helpful, not even have any smile on her face.

Moreover, the air conditioning was not high enough and the chairs are not comfortable enough, I don't feel relax at all in this shop . Also, it was quite noisy in the coffee shop as there's many cars passing by.

Mid-June (Rainy)

Having to think of a good place to spend time in solidarity for a few hours could be hard, especially during peak lunchhours around commercial areas. Faced with this problem I hopped onto a tram and wandered to Causeway Bay, walked and walked until I spot this cosy-looking cafe - ironically right opposite to the minibus stop I usually line up to go home at. Being an atheist myself I dont get emotional or whatever when it comes to religion. Therefore I saw Cafe Bonfire as little different from just any ordinary cafe in Causeway Bay, and for most of the times overlooked the words of God, the visible crosses and religious stuff in the cafe. But something interesting I noticed was the last line on my receipt: ' Please wait for number call. God bless!' Well, doesnt that resonate with the belief in Jesus/God, the idea of waiting to be called to heaven? Anyway - what i ordered were my usuals, a cup of skimmed latte with a light snack. The latte was brought by a server with shaky hands and i was scared that she would ruin the latte art on the drink. Luckily she didnt and the heart persisted on the foamed milk. The layer of foam was not thick but I like the taste of the coffee - it was nice and warm, and much more mild than what I had at Caffe Kenon the day before. You may not like what you get here, but this was MY cup of coffee, and I really like it. Toasts are actually breakfast items but since i was not feeling hungry at all, I ordered one for lunch anyway, topped with peanut butter. They too used the 'smooth' PB together with butter while brushing my toast. It was reasonably thick and nicely toasted to achieve a beautiful brown tint. Crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, the toast was delicious, and perfect for my leisure afternoon in solidarity. I actually felt bad taking the last sip from my coffee mug - it was so great, and everything was perfect. Except for the noise from the screaming kids playing in the cafe, of course. I would definitely come again for a cup of coffee - but I would definitely be checking if there's kids in the place before I enters next time.

Had to attend class in hku space campus next to it on a Sunday morning, so I searched on openrice for a decent place for a breakfast the night before and found this cafe. I walked pass 北海道牧場餐廳 on the way but then i remember it did not really hv a good rating on OR...

So i got in to this cafe, typical sandwiches, toast etc. to choose from, ordered a mushroom omelet /w toast breakfast set ($36) and +$6 to upgrade the drink to cappuccino. I sat down and two words on the receipt catched my eyes:"主佑", then took a look around and confirmed it's a religion-themed cafe (i didn't notice the comments on OR before...), and i instantly lowered my expectation on the food and drink (no offense here).

The coffee and omelet and toast came after 5mins, the food looked and tasted homemade and is good, the cappuccino is so-so. I guess a portion of the price they charge is the premium for poviding a place for the believers.

The greetings and goobyes from the waitresses are genuine not mechanical

PS. It's annoying to see a kid playing with the food (yes playing like it's a toy!) and her father focus on his book or iphone without stopping her.

One's of the best places to have a coffee I found in HK, since I arrived from France last year.

Service is good, coffee is tasty and the Polish Apple Crumble is délicious. I really have a relaxing moment , I loved this place, and that's sure ,i'll come back

Regular afternoon tea with my friend, and I get to choose the place this time as we will be having it near my office. Always enjoy a relaxing coffee during working hours, with a quick search on openrice, immediately decided to try out this cafe as it is located in a more quiet corner of Causeway Bay.

It is extremely easy to find, which made me wonder why I have never been here. In a way, this is good, as the place is spacious and quiet. My friend already arrived as expected! She is such a punctual person. This is a self-service cafe, so we can pour our own cup of water and pick up our own cutlery. Thank you my friend for her thoughtful pick of the green cup for my water.

The interior of this cafe is extremely relaxing and tranquil, playing soft music, projecting various images on the wall. The shelfs are filled with religious readings which is in the line of the theme of this cafe and what it tries to carry across as a message.

Moving on to its menu which is simple but should be able to cater for most. Here is what we ordered,

Egg Salad with Pita Pocket - My friend's order, which she says was quite fresh and the egg salad tasted quite ok, only that the pita pocket was too dry and hard. This actually made me wonder into the stories in the bible where people are given bread as their meals. Obviously, they didn't have as many choices as us today.

Chicken Pastry Pie - I actually enjoyed this very much. The pastry puff is super flaky and light. The filling is mainly chicken in a kind of homemade mayonnaise sauce, yummy!

Regular coffee - At last, a beautiful cup for coffee, though it is not full of aroma but it is hot, silky and taste great together with my pastry pie. I must say the coffee oil is definitely evident which is plus plus for me.

Ok, so we are a bit full but we cannot skip the dessert as the cakes display fridge is very attractive!

Polish Apple Crumble - Wow, I love it! The crumbles are rich in flavours, extremely crusty, and the fillings are of the right sweetness. My only complain will be that it is not warm enough and will be flawless if they get the temperature right.

Banana Chocolate Puff - Another wow of the day! Though the pastry is similar to the chicken pastry I had earlier but the richness of the chocolate went real well with the banana fillings. This is possibly one of the best combination I had for a while. It also served with 2 scoops of Goat's Milk ice-cream which tasted rich but not as creamy as I would like.

Another coffee for me which created a perfect ending of our afternoon tea. Thank you again my friend for the dessert and the lucky mooncakes!

A quick search on the net of all the possible meanings of "bonfire" made me wonder...as the food served by this cafe gave me a feeling of home which celebrated my quiet afternoon tea with my friend, hope this bonfire created by them will last forever as our friendship will be.

BEST COFEE EVER!!!!!

(好過 Pacific coffee D house coffee, 同水差唔多...)

Place looked nice and inviting so we walked in for lunch. Interior was nice , spacious and very attractive. Tables are a little small for groups of four but we managed. There were toys, crayons, stamps and books to keep my boys occupied.

Menu had a very limited choice and they actually ran out of spaghetti bollongnais. The pita sandwiches were quite yummy but I thought were on the expensive ($52 for a full) side. The drinks were also on the high side ($32 for a chocolate milk) - similar to the Starbucks level for similar quality - that is why I don't go to Starbucks much since independent restaurants are usually cheaper.

Tried the blueberry cheesecake. A little on the hard side - not really fresh.

Overall dining experience was excellent except the pricing is about 15% too high.

Finally gotten around to try here again 2 weeks ago.

綠靈火 Cake -
This cake is advertised to be of mainly Green Apple taste, unfortunately wasn't detectable at all. Most parts of the cake is also too dense. The 'caramelised' marshmallow bits were surprisingly too soft. 6/10

Cappucino -
The cake disappointed - but the coffee I ordered did not!
My last Espresso was ok to good, slightly too thin and the blend wasn't entirely Espresso orientated. The cappucino I got however was above-average. Mainly of a chocolatey flavour with hints of hazelnut, it was slightly overly-roasty and singular dimensional. Yet, this was made very well by the Barista technique wise. The finish lasts approximately 2-3 seconds.

For some reason it reminds me of Cafe Corridor's coffee, if you gave them to me 'blind-folded' I wouldn't be able to tell the difference, except Corridor's is slightly more bitter on average. Believe it or not, Bonfire's version tastes closer to Cafe Corridor, than Coffee Assembly is to Corridor (despite using the exact blend) if Felix isn't there! Probably a machine set up and barista issue. 7 /10

SUMMARY - A Great Barista makes your coffee here, in fact it surprised me that its better than more professional shop. The cake was a slight letdown, the coffee blend was ho-hum. Service was top notch, really friendly.

I keep telling myself I need to come back to try their signature cakes and more siphoned and/or milk or black coffees, before reviewing here - but I've waited a long time for that opportunity and it hasn't materialised still, so this short review will do tonight until I visit again!

靈火咖啡園 is operated and owned by a Catholic Church affiliated group, kind of similar to United Cafe Bistro in Jordan - both boast of doing pretty good coffees too, I even wondered if they're related .

My House Blend Espresso was served Al Vetro style: in a slightly pre-warmed Glass, rather than the normal ceramic demitasse. It was pleasant with hints of grassy or dry hay aroma, backed by a savouriness which reminds me of oily animal fur... Little bitterness was detected. A thinnish body, lightish colour Crema and the tell-tale sign of slight tangy/acidic finish at the tongue reminds me - this pour still can improve with a slight adjustment to 'extraction' time, it needs to be slowed down just a little! My Espresso is worth around a '3' to '4' range.

Coffees Beans are locally sourced and roasted.
