WAFFLE TREAT Just OK Mar 19, 2013
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
Went to Tin Hau for lunch with friends and saw this little shop which sells waffle and egg ball. There were few ppl lining up in front of me. I oredered this waffle which costed $18!!! I later found out they use some quality ingredients include japanese flour. Well taste is very standard and I think they put too less sugar in it and maybe good for health concern ppl. Over all the shop is clean and the wait time is ok. Maybe i will come back and ask for more sweet next time!smile

    Waffle~ Smile Jan 22, 2011

Nobody's at home so I went to buy some food for dinner on my way home. I remember reading about this shop on openrice so I went for a try.

There were already 4 people waiting when I got there. I ordered a waffle and beef balls~
While I was waiting, there was this really nice smell which made me very hungry.

I live in tin hau so the food was still warm when I got home but some of the sauce in the waffle were spilt out. The waffle is really thick which made it quite difficult to bite both layers at once. The waffle itself tastes ok but not as good as its smell and the peanut butter and condensed milk are not strong even. The beef balls are very good and the soy sauce is a bit sweetened.

Overall, it's pretty good. I will definitely go there again for the beef balls. For the waffle, maybe I should try again and request more sauce. I think I should try the egg puffs next time as well.tongue

Note: This is a review of the re-located shop opposite from only a few nights ago, not from old shop.

    bowlSIU MAI -
This tastes the same everywhere right, its commercially supplied with some starch and very little fish taste? Unfortunately not. The version here at 臨記 carried so much MSG, it was left unfinished and thrown into the bin. 7-11 or 鴻福堂 might not be good either but at least those are edible. huffy

    bowlEGGETTES -
The 雞蛋仔 was like last time, pretty tasteless. It had very little eggy taste or custardy taste, it also had no aroma to speak of. Texturally, this was thin crispy on the batter without much middle filling, but at least it was crispier than my 1st try of here before. I think this really needs to up the game in terms of eggy flavouring as well as making a spongier internal compared to the hollow version at present. Overall: slightly disappointed, considering this costs $12, which is a premium price charged at more than any other shop out there other than the famous Northpoint one.

    有點失望..

eggies no good Cries May 02, 2010

wanted to try the snacks for long. this day i'd got the chance, but i was a bit disappointed.
sometimes this store is closed, dont know why, but its open this day.

we bought the eggies (雞蛋仔). when i got the bag the eggies were so soft =...=
and its too light. not much egg flavour. perhaps its made from japanese flour?!

but we both think that it wouldnt make you too full as normal eggies would do. this is what we appreciated. as we gotta have sports practice afterwards.

not recommend eggies. but i will try 格仔餅 next time.

hv walked past this little shop many many times before, and seeing a lot of good comments and the cleaniness, i've decided to give their gai daan jai a try!

i hv a vy high acceptance level and tolerance level for food in general, but this bag of gaidaan jai i got was really quite bad...due to its tastelessness...or i guess i'm just unlucky that probably that egg mix they've forgotten to add seasoning..???

don't want to be harsh to small shops, especially heartful ones like these. still want to revisit sometimes later to give it a second chance!

    Waffle Smile Jan 09, 2010

I tried the famous jumbo waffle. The owner is polite and the shop is well decorated, simple, clean, and modern. From those little actions and attitudes, I can tell that the owner enjoy and love his business. He gave me a feeling that he love this little and simple shop although it won't help him to grab big bunch of money at this moment.

My experience tells me that one can tell whether the cook enojy his job simply from his kitchen, his food presentation, and the food quality.

I think this 臨記 may achieve that in the near future. Cheers.
