really disappointed  Cries Jan 07, 2013
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
I used to go to Casa Fina a lot.
I think their oysters and pasta are really good and in a reasonable price as well.

Last week, I went there with one of my friend.
We have ordered oysters and cherry stone for the beginning.
The oysters and cherry stone are really fresh.

Afterwards, we have ordered the main.
We ordered the scallop risotto with squid ink and a forie gras pasta.

The Forie gras pasta just smells like maggie sauce fried noodles.
And I of course hope is doesn't taste the way how it smells.
However, it just taste exactly the way how it smells.
    Kind of disappointed.

Afterwards, it came the Scallop risotto and this is one of my favorite dishes.
However, it totally this dish has totally ruin my dream.
    Scallop Risotto
    Scallop Risotto

It really salty and the risotto is not welly cooked yet.

I don't think i will come back anymore. It really disappointed me.

A very positive experience and definitely an outstanding review for Casa Fina. I have been to the restaurant maybe 4 times and I have not been disappointed so far.

The restaurant is in a very cozy setting with around 10 tables spaced out comfortably. The staff there is friendly and attentive. Although not everyone can answer questions about oysters, the few that can are very knowledgable and can give very fine details to the questions I asked - which are mostly about taste, texture and seasonality.

My wife and I ordered 9 oysters apiece, some of which are on 2-for-1 discount. This time I ordered the Kumamoto, Gilladeau (2), Fine de Claire, White Pearl (2), Ecailles d'Argent (2), Tsarskaya and Belon. I dont claim to be an expert in many times of cuisines, but I know my oysters - and Casa Fina served me very fresh and very high grade oysters. They even had some oysters that I havent tried before. Overall, I was impressed by both the quality and the selection.

After the oysters, my wife and I shared a lobster bisque. For main course, I ordered a foie gras sauce pasta and my wife ordered the risotto. Both were very yummy. I liked my foie gras sauce pasta, which was served with a generous amount of fois gras and wasnt too oily. After the main course, we again shared a dessert. We chose the marble cheesecake, which was also very tasty.

Casa Fina is a gem for oyster lovers. I prefer them to the other 2 frequently mentioned hotel venues for oysters. I will definitely be back again soon.

oyster romance  Smile Jun 18, 2012

If it's some special occasion and is more than two, strongly recommend to make a reservation in advance.
I came here because I was craving for oyster.
They always have a buy 1 get 1 free offer for six selected oyster of the day but at the end we choose the oyster platter for two which cost around $4xx.
As the oyster platter served with 2 glasses of white wine plus you can choose any price of oyster from the menu. The oyster platter also serve 2 sea whelk not bad but not good either.
The white wine I was a bit disappointed, because I assume with Casa Fina’s price they could have choose a better matching white wine for serving oysters.

Anyway, Oyster we have ordered white pearl, black pearl, fine de Claire, Cadoret and Gillardeau (they all from France) plus an extra order of two Namibia (one of the half price oyster). On the oyster platter, 2 of the white pearl have already gone bad, but the staff changed a new one for us immediately. My personal favorite among all would be the Black pearl, strong taste. The Namibia was above average too!

We shared the oyster soup, which have one oyster in it, recommend for people who love oyster. Then we have the clam garlic pasta, my friend loved it but I think its just okay. The clam probably cooked in wine but I think they can still do better of this pasta.

Then we had the melted heart chocolate cake, my all time favorite dessert, it’s quite good but not the best 

food is great, but service...  May 28, 2012
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
I think everyone has mentioned the good food, and i truly think the quality is well worth the money spent.

However I would like to comment on the service. I don't know if they are 'too efficient', but everytime i was chewing on my last bite of food, the server come to exchange my plates and bring the next course. Seems like we are rushing against time, and we are not given enough time to enjoy the meal. Imagine we can finish the oyster platter and 3 more courses in 45 mins. They just have the mindset to get you out of the restaurant before 9pm (so they can serve the next round)

My recommendation to whoever's going, is to order your food 1 by 1, so YOU can control the speed, not THEM.

First of all the interior and the table are tiny, that we have to squeeze ourselves in.

After seeing open rice's comment we decided to come and try their oysters.
However I do not understand where were all smiling face from,
If you guys have went to Sheraton's Oyster Bar, this Casa Fina is NOTHING comparing to them.

Casa Fina's oysters do not give you a feeling of melting, sweet, fresh, but Sheraton does!

Yes, you guys may say about the price difference but the thing is if you are going to an oyster bar of course you want the best oysters.

Only one thing I am happy about Casa Fina is their service =)

Buy-one-get-one-free oysters, Namibia, Scottish Rock and French oysters. I especially love the French ones. Sweet, crunchy and fresh...the flavors transported me to a beautiful place by the sea....blablabla...gosh, stop it. This is not my style.

    They're yummy.
OK. That sounds more like me.
    Heheheh.

As an appetizer, we ordered the calamari.

Perfectly cooked, tender calamari rings, the breading isn't the crispy type, but it's flavorful. The parmesan bits...what's not to love?...and we especially love the horseradish creamy dip. It made everything perfect.

The black truffle and wild cream of mushroom soup was delightful, tasty, creamy, and there are a couple slices of black truffle in it.

The lobster bisque didn't impress us. It's underseasoned and overly bitter. The soup was served with a side of nicely toasted, buttery bread.

The duck liver and wild mushroom linguini was as fantastic as it sounds. Rich and earthy flavors with perfectly cooked pasta. Sold!

The lamb could be a little more charred and it's a tiny bit undercooked. Other than that, it's decent and the portion is generous.

The warm chocolate cake is nothing earth shattering, but it's more than adequate. Very chocolatey cake with warm chocolate liquid oozing out of the cake once you've digged into it.

We were very impressed by the pumpkin ice cream. Very light, not too sweet, the pumpkin flavor was there...and it's served in a cute tiny pumpkin! How adorable! I wish the pumpkin wasn't as frozen so that we could dig into it and...consume it.

I'll totally go back to try their sea urchin spaghetti and pomelo sherbet.

For the love of just wanting to try something new, and some place which would take us at little notice on a Friday evening, we ended up at Casa Fina. The fact that we got in without difficulty on a weekend is no reflection of the place. We decided to eat early and got lucky. After we settled in, its central location in the heart of Causeway Bay meant that many had to be kept waiting even if they made a reservation.

Oysters were pretty impressive, especially the Black Pearl variety. I'm no oyster expert but I know what I like. Not too fleshy but slightly "minerally", with a sweet finish and a nice blend of meat and muscle. Bingo! Added bonus: the 1-4-1 promotion makes it a really good deal.

After a cold start, time to warm the tum tum as I ready myself for the main event. The Cream of Mushroom soup was delightfully fragrant from what I suspect to be a few mushroom types used, sauteed and then pureed down with some good stock. Given a little lush finish by the drizzle of olive oil, this would warm any heart.

Next up: the baked escargots. The snails by themselves were pretty ordinary but the bed of mash made this outstanding. A little lumpy from the fact that this was probably hand mashed rather than through an electric blender, and gives you that pleasant surprise of biting into spud bits. And lifted by the tomato-based sauce dressing up the other blander items like the lightly sauteed spinach and mushrooms. The cherry tomatoes were a little too tart for me, and so I avoided them until I remembered Mommy's advice to eat my tomatoes.. but only at the end.

The reason many rave about and come to this place is the Linguini with Foie Gras and Wild Mushrooms. Despite the generous use of liver, it was not overly greasy and instead lent a wondrously rich taste to both the perfectly al dente pasta and the mushrooms. The shrooms also had no qualms soaking up the goodness of the liver and the result was an enhanced fatty goodness, highlighting them. This was well executed for want of a better description since I could very well imagine a botched job would send this review down the tubes so kudos to the boys in the open kitch doing their thing before us.

As far as I can tell, the peeps who dine here order almost the same thing. So if you like the selection in a vibrant but dimly lit joint that's casual, this is your place. And if they keep doing that 1-4-1 oyster promo, this could get even more crowded. Don't forget your reservations.

Oyster Galore!! Smile Oct 01, 2010

Casa Fina is one of my favourite go-to place for good and fresh oysters + delicious pasta! I dine here at least once a month to get my oyster fix with my friends and it is always a 100% satisfying experience. They have a daily selection of oysters that are buy-one-get-one. There are probably at least 15 different oysters on the menu and their waiters are always helpful with explaining the characteristics of each of them and help you select the best ones based on your personal preference. African Rock is a personal favourite as it leaves a gorgeous sweet aftertaste! Gillardeau, FIne De Claire, White Pearl are also great picks if you like your oysters sweet and crispy and not so "sea-salty"

Its oyster platter (choose 5 types of oyster and you get 2 of each and it comes with a glass of white wine) is also a great choice if you want to sample a selection of different oysters. While me and my friends often go nuts and have at least 20 oysters each, we always try to make room for its delicious truffle and foie gra pasta! IT'S HEAVENLY but i'd suggest you share it with a friend as it's quite a heavy dish but a definite must-try!

Make a reservation as this place is always full!!

Oyster as dessert! Smile Jul 05, 2010
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
This is my second time eating oyster as dessert! Sheraton Oyster Bar is still one of my favorite place for Oyster. When i wan to have cheaper oyster, i will go Casa Fina. This night, my best friend and I would like to have oyster again, therefore, we booked Casa Fina at 9pm. This is because we would only like to have Oyster in Casa fina, $398 a oyster platter with 2 glasses of white wine ( well ..bad one) and 2 whelks.

We ordered sth from Australia ( forgot the name) , Irish gigas, Fine de clair, white pearl, Gillardeau and Belon ooo. The best was White pearl very sweet, crispy and with oyster flavor. Belon is still not our flavor as the metal taste inside the mouth made me sick.

The reason that we do not want to have other hot dish at casa fina largely because it is over priced and the taste is not special.

We have dinner at Citysuper, having sushi and salmon wrap from the deli. The salmon wrap is very good taste, with quite a lot of smoke salmon as filling. $45 smoke salmon wrap is really a bargain.

The whole dinner was good except the horrible dessert at Toi.

    Oysters - Very fresh

    Lobster - Juicy

Lamb chop - Great control in temperature. I ordered a medium rare and it's nicely cooked.

Yummy oyster and seafood Smile Jun 10, 2010
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
Well, I am not a person who always go to CWBfor shopping/food/drinks, in that sense, if you ask me for nice restaurants in this area, the immediate answer that emerges in my brain is probably MacDonald's, KFC or food court.

Not until the night I had my birthday dinner with a friend in CWB changed my dinning scope entirely. Before that, I am a fanic buffet goer where TST hotels are the only places that I can think of having fresh oysters and seafoods.

At Casa Fina, I had my very first oyter platter which is covered with a number of different types of oyters from every corner of the world. The eating order should starts from light taste to heavy taste. What is the most encouraging news is they sometimes are on promotional offer which particular oysters are on buy-1-get-1-free.

The oyster soup was soooo tasty, that can be the best oyster soup that I have ever had. Garlic breads were hot and crispy. Salad is ok, not very remarkable.

I like the Mussels in white wine and cream sauce. That reminds me of dinning in a Belgium restaurant in Paris. And I think Casa Fina's dish is no inferior than the authentical Belgium restaurant I visited, this credit should go to Casa's chef.

What pleased me is they charge free for the first bottle of wine.

Fine dining in a fine environment is truely a fine experience.

Thanks my friend for treating me.

first visit to this casa (we tried the original one).

attracted by the buy-one-get-one-free promotion, we ordered all 6 different kinds of oysters. they were fresh, tasty and you could tell they were different from one another. yummy! =)

accompanied by a bottle of unwooded chardonnay from hunter valley, both the wine and oysters blended into one another and produced a better taste. =)

we also ordered some pasta and lamb rack, they were very good!!! the squid ink pasta was full of squid ink favor, and the pasta was al dente. i love the lamb rack, juicy, tender and filled your mouth with the favor... but my friends had a lower comment as the texture was too soft and not smooth enough.

    finally... our favourite, dessert!

    tiramisu was good.

the melten chocolate cake was definitely one of the best in town! running chocolate center, not sweet but full of chocolate aroma, together with a scoop of velvet vanilla ice-cream, every taste bud was jumping!

    a very satisfied dinner tonite!

    Disappointed Cries Jan 22, 2010
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
As with all the other ones in Henry Building, the size and decor is not the selling point. In fact the tables are very closely packed and a private/intimate conversation is definitely not suggested.
The menu is like those from a cheap cha-chan-teng - no attention to details, no imagination, simply very un-inviting. The dishes are very limited - one soup, a choice of 4 main dishes and a dessert.
The soup came with a piece of over-cooked stale bread which was almost tasteless despite its appearance - if it was supposed to be grilled garlic bread, it could have fooled me! The soup was rather tasty but not hot enough, it must have stopped boiling a long time ago (but it was only slightly after 1pm when we went).
I had lamb chops as the main dish - bland and not cooked according to my order. The veg and potatoes were simply tasteless.
My friends had some pasta and both needed additional seasoning which speaks volumes about what it tasted like. I didn't need to ask.
The dessert was a little chocolate cake - nothing to write home about. The tea was again bland and not hot.
For the price of around $100 per head including service charge, it is probably acceptable for lunch but if the same quality and standard are maintained for dinners, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

    FINE FOOD
Starter : Cream of Tomatoes Soup – creamy
Main course: Australian Marble Steak – juicy, texture very tender & soft
Sweet: Chocolate Brownies - a right combination of crunchiness, chewiness

    EXCELLENT SERVICE
    <<Sensitive & Flexible to Client’s Needs>>
When my father was reading the menu & blab out to us that he would like to have spaghetti as oppose to roast potatoes as the side dish to go with the Steak. I told him that it’s a set menu & therefore it could not be change. The waiter immediately came over & offered us this exceptional change.

    <<Sensitive & Proactive>>

When my father was tiring of cutting the steak, (he is not fond of using knives & forks) the waiter immediately came over with the forks & knives to cubed the steak for my father.

    QUITE IMPRESSIVE!!!
