I want to give this place between a happy face and ok but openrice does not have that option. I wasn't sure what time this place open so I came around 11:30am, it wasn't open. So I'm guessing they open at 12pm. I went walking around and came back 12pm, still not open, but there was progress since the metal gate was opened half way. I went walking around again and came back around 12:30pm and it was finally opened. When I went inside there were many people inside already....maybe they went in when the metal gate was halfway open. tongue I ordered the pork bone ramen because I like the white soup base. There are two interesting thing about this bowl of ramen. First is the pork, it is different....I am used to seeing it round shaped because it is a rolled up piece of pork belly meat. This pork is sliced from a slab of pork that was really tender, so it was squarish shaped. Second, is the taste of the white soup. I always thought the whiteness, milky color of the soup comes from long cooking of the pork bone. However, for this soup base, I tasted CONDENSED MILK! It is so weird...therefore I taste milkiness and sweetness. Those two interesting things aren't necessarily bad, just different. However, I would like that they decrease the amount of the condensed milk a tiny bit so it isn't so profound, because, it is tad bit too sweet for a savory dish. In addition, noodles were cooked perfectly and service was great.

Alright dinner Just OK Feb 02, 2010

I walked by this restaurant one time by accident and really wanted to try it since it looked really on the outside. they were located in a really secluded area and not many people would have walked there if they didn't know about the restaurant.

So i order a couple appetizers, BBQ soft chicken bones, chicken skewer, Ox toungue cubes, a crab meat & cucumber salad and 2 noodles.

overall the appetizers tasted very good, but the size was way too small for the price.
only 3 SMALL skewers of soft chicken bone and chicken for around $30 ea. I would've expected at least 5. there was also only around 10-12 small cubes (7 x 7 x 7mm) for around $30.

we ordered 2 noodles, i forgot the exact dish.
but both were good, and appropriate sizes at the listed price.

therefore, overall food quality is not bad, but proportion can be bigger for apetizers.
i do recommend it to people who likes to eat ramen =)

not good as before.. Cries Apr 10, 2009
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
Have been to there over ten times when it's first open, food is excellent at that time..
However when i came to visit again after 2 months, things changed............. have ordered chilli noodles, but the soup is merely a mixture of water and chilli, not even with beef/pork soup as base.
The oyster also became smaller than before, those pieces of BBQ pork are like 0.2mm thick. (previously is 2-3mm thick, whole piece of BBQ porklol).......

I saw the guy in the kitchen has switched to a new guy, don't know if it is because of this or what, but all in all, won't visit again if they don't keep things back to previous standard..huffy

a shop with great sincerity Smile Nov 21, 2008

My friends bought me dinner at this shop.

The boss is a nice person. Reminds me of 車品品. Willing to talk about his shops, his ramen, let us tried his new dishes, a very hospitable host.

Ordered pepper ramen. I was told that the soup is made of ox bone. The soup was clear. However, the pepper was a bit too much and covered the taste of the soup. Having said that, the soup is still very good, and there was no MSG as far as I could tell. The ramen was chewy. With a few slices of pork and half an egg. The pork was good, not too lean, not to fat. The egg was exact.

My friends also ordered 糖心疍. Very much like the Shanghainese 熏疍. The egg york was half cooked. Very tasty. The eggs were of bite-size and thus no need to worry too much about cholestrol.

We also had deep fried oysters. Again, small size but the oytsers were still fresh and juicy.

My ramen should be something like $40. I think we ended up spending less than $200.

Fine for a light dinner... Just OK Nov 03, 2008
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
We saw this new place some time ago but we only went here this time cos we needed a quick dinner. It looks clean and tidy since it’s still very new. We ordered:

Super spicy pork ramen – v. hot so I couldn’t taste much of the beef soup
Black pepper pork ramen – tasted good but a bit oily cos of the beef soup

There are only limited choices so we were not v. full but it’s fine for a quick and light dinner. It would be nice to include dumplings on the menu. In additional, they can also improve the design of the doorbell cos people seem to be a bit confused of how to open the door.
