Shocking Customer Service  Jan 31, 2011

I was at the Peak with my wife on Sunday night at around 9:30pm. Without being picky, we wanted to try out this local restuarant. Unfortunately, it turned out to be by far the worst customer service I have ever witnessed.

We went into the restuarant at 9:30pm and were told by the restuarant's supervisor that it was about to close. The supervisor wasn't particularly polite (but to be fair not too mean either), and we understood that it was late so we just left the restuarant. Just when we walked out of the restaurant, a Chinese tourist family walked into the restuarant and were looking for a table. What happened next was absolutely shocking! A young staff aged early twenties yelled at the tourists loudly in front of everyone at least 6 or 7 times in mandarin. He repeatedly yelled "Closed, closed, closed...." in mandarin. The Chinese tourist and everyone there including us were shocked to see the young staff's attitude. The Chinese tourist and his family then quietly left.

I just think that it doesn't take much to politely decline your customers. Perhaps the young staff might have had a tough or tiring day, but that is not an excuse to treat your customers in such a manner. I grew up in HK and was disappinted that this happened in a supposingly tourist friendly area.. I hope the restuarant owener would see this review and improve the customer service. As I didn't try the food, I gave "3" for all ratings except for customer service.

Basically after scanning the menu, I felt the two items ordered were worth eating, the rest were items such as instant noodles, curries, baked spaghetti, stir fried noodles, sandwiches which could be ordered anywhere.
Overall, there was not much choice on the menu, the range was small.

The beef steak was thinly sliced beef covered in pepper sauce, the beef was quite good, only a tiny edge of fat to be found.
The legumes on top of the steak was long beans which is better than the effortless diced frozen vegetables found in the usual HK cafes.

The chicken steak was the best, similar to Wing Sik, but less flavouring for the chicken and topped with generous spring onion and ginger sauce.
The only thing that let the chicken down, was that it had a strong frozen chicken taste and some weird taste from marination.
Both pieces were de-boned chicken thighs.

I thought it was a big portion, but I still felt hungry after eating it all.
