NEVER COME BACK AGAIN. Cries Apr 19, 2013
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
This is actually my second visit to the Yamm buffet. Went once last year around June 2012. The experience was pretty good. Sea food was fresh and dessert was yummy. NOT IN A MOOD to take any picture since the food disgusted me.

HOWEVER- the dining experience of yesterday totally freaked me out. I’m not visiting YAMM anymore in my entire life.
THE WORST PART IS THE FOOD- QUALITY is totally not what you expected from a $700 buffet, it is just like $300-400 buffet from a 2~3 star hotel.
FOOD: 1/10Uni: Smelly and Bitter, they are being placed in a pretty big bowl with a very small portion. But they are all melted. No idea how can they serve it on the table even they all melted.
All kind of Seafood: Bad smell and weird texture, the first bite of the lobster is alright, but when you keep on eating it, you will discover that the texture is like a plastic, pretty weird, overall not fresh at all
Baked Lobster with cheese: Average- some bad smell from some of the lobsters
Other hot dishes: Not too bad but yet not good as well- average
Dessert: Lemon Macaroon is the only thing I keep eating for the whole night, the lemon macaroon is pretty good, the watermelon and strawberry are good too

SERVICE: 8/10Service is quite good, quick response from waiters

ENVIRONMENT: 4/10The decoration is ok, but there were a large group of mainland tourists speaking (shouting) real loudly next to our table..

    huffyhuffyhuffyhuffyhuffyhuffyhuffyhuffy
    I WONT COME BACK ANYMORE.

Not bad Just OK Aug 24, 2012

    Sunday Brunch with family...again.

Last time we went to Whisk, excellent! And this time, decided to try Yamm, at the lobby, a bit cheaper so can't compare equally with Whisk.

Brunch starts at 11:30am; sparkling wine Jacobs Creek (fruits flavours , soft), Bloody Mary and fruit juices were available.

A chef manages the oyster corner, you can get 3 pcs each time (this arrangement is better than allowing customers to get the oysters by themselves, for hygiene and there are selfish customers everywhere, take a lot but can't finish). Australian oysters, fresh and sweettongue

Parma ham, salami, smoked salmon and various types of cheeses are my favorites, goat cheese and at least 8 types of cheeses available, yummysmile

There is a sashimi and sushi bar, salmon, tuna, squid, rolls, etc are available. Salad table is not very attractive, but bread &pastries are very good. Even though I'm not a big fan of bread, I like the mini croissant.

Ordered an omlette, it took rather long time because many people ordered that...disappointed, because it's over-cooked.

Deep fried fish skin is not bad, and dim sumsmile xiao long bao, very cute presentation but not that tasty because the skin was too thick.

Overall, appetizers and sparkling are always stars of buffet brunch.

The seating area is more spacious than Whisk, but more families with kids, so rather noisy.

Went in here on a Sunday afternoon. The place was full, but we had made reservations. For $188 we were stuffed full with a wide range of savoury and sweet, hot and cold items from their afternoon tea buffet. Some of the highlights included deliciously gooey croque monsier sandwiches, tasty shark fin dumplings and gyoza. The selection of desserts was enormous; the green tea cake with peach, earl grey chocolate mousse cake and Mövenpick ice cream were really good. The most outstanding dessert was the tiramisu, deliciously airy and not too cloyingly sweet, better than the one at Tosca at Ritz Carlton. The only lackluster food there were the sushi, too much rice as is the usual at buffets, and the Portuguese egg tarts which were not warm. As for the service, no complaints indeed. My plates were always cleared quickly, and when I ordered tea, I didn't have to wait long as well.

If you're the kind of person that wakes up at 2:00 on Saturdays, you can eat your breakfast and dinner in one go here. Together with the fact that you're sitting in the chic, classy environment of the Mira hotel, it's a great deal for 188 HKD!

Went here for the lunch buffet and was surprised to find out that their food quality improved a lot and they have a greater variety of food now (I used to come here for lunch a lot 2 years ago.)

    The good:
Very wide selection of salads & appetizers.
    Fresh oysters
    Seafooood
Satay skewers (theres chicken, pork, & beef. All of them tasted great. I couldn't get enough of them!tongue)
    Parma ham & melon
    Smoked salmon
    Roasted pork neck
    Haagen daaz ice cream
Chocolate brownie (a bit too sweet for me but nonetheless its chocolatey and chewy and I liked the pecans on it lol)
Chocolate ganache thing (this was seriously good. Seriously.)
    Coconut cream tapioca

    The not so good:
Sushi rolls (The rice tastes like flavorless plain rice but not sushi rice which should be a bit sour. Nigri sushi's were okay though.)
Diced water chestnut dessert in pink foam-like thing
Tiramisu (tasted more like a piece of tiramisu flavored cake)
Cheesecake (Not firm enough for my liking)

Simple: Do NOT go.  Cries Dec 29, 2009
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
I went there to celebrate a friend's birthday. It was a location that was picked by that friend so I happily obliged to give my attendance since it was her birthday. There were 7 of us attending.

    Environment:
The lobby looks a bit too endeavoring to stand out without a welcoming or relaxing atmosphere. I guess the hotel targets young local people, since its design and feel is way behind 5 star international hotels.

To get straight to it, the food suck, service is unacceptable, particularly when I am paying $600 per person (after the 10% service charge).

    FOOD SUCK.
There are no many food to choose from, there are only 3 isles of food very sparsely spaced. There is no clear defined section of food. I guess when one pays $600 per person for a dinner, they would expect to have plenty of luxury food, like lobster, crabs, large prawns, oysters, because seriously, with $600 I can buy 6 decent dinners. BUT, there was no lobster when I when there, only clams from boston lobster (without the lobster itself). There were long legs crabs, but the restaurant rarely refills them. I was there from 7 to 10 PM and they have only refilled the long legs crabs about 3 to 4 times... The prawns are small and not fresh. There is no roast duck, no roast pork.

For the oven cooked meat, it was a bit cold and they do not even have mustard. When I was there to ask for English mustard, the guy serving the food pointed me to another counter and that counter pointed me to another counter. Finally, they perceived that I was serious to get my mustard so they gave up fooling me around and told me that I need to ask a waiter for it from the kitchen!!

Fruit. I love fruit, but there were only 3 types of fruit. ONLY 3!!! Watermelon, melon, and another type of melon that I dont even bother since they were not ripe.

Salad. This is pathetic. There is only 2 to 3 types of dressings and the vegetables are not refilled timely enough. So I was always getting the veggies from the left overs from the bottom of the bowl.

Think before you go. For us 7 people, that is $4,200 in total. We each can order a decent size abalone to have it served like a steak, and plenty of other well cooked and expensive dishes of food. If you want a nice atmosphere to eat, then there are plenty of nicer place. If you want to have buffet, then there are plenty of proper 5 stars hotel to choose from that know how to serve buffet with staff being properly trained. To be fair, most of the staff were very kind and welling to assist, but they just do not have the etiquette of a 5 star hotel staff.

This is the worst buffet experience I had in HK.

oyster delight!! Smile Dec 03, 2009

If you are a fan of oysters- then I highly recommend you to come to Yamm.

I was lucky enough to try their new oyster promotion and I wasnt disappointed! lol
They've got 3 different kinds of live oysters on the buffet that is freshly opened. I highly recommed the West Africa one, as I was suprised to taste such texture- from such a small oyster. Must try to know what I am talking about.

The US one is a big oyster- I dont understand why people only line up for the big ones, you cant even taste the flavour in them and they just look too big and weird. But the Australia one, the saltiness to it was just perfect, you can taste its freshness and the fact you know it came from the sea.

On top of that, they have different kinds of oyster cooked in different ways- not a fan of sea urchin- so the oyster sashimi wasnt my thing. But the oyster sushi and tempura was great!- but nothing beat the oyster teppanyaki and the yakitori- the yakitori oyster was salty- but the taste with the bonito flakes was just divine!

Other than the oysters- they have sashimi, tempura, yakitori, teppanyaki- highly recommened you try a little of everything before you order by bulk. The table next to me did that and they wasted so much food it was sad.

They had shark fin soup on the buffet in individual bowls as well as curry, hainanese chicken, salad bar, cold cuts, and all other kind of seafood. But I was too concentrated eating all the oysters that I was so stuffed and couldnt fit anymore of the other oyster. They also have peking duck and pigeon. They were cooked ok for a western restaurant.

The dessert definitely lacked in selection- they had 3 bowls of different color of macroons places separtely -its like if they were trying to take up more space on the buffet. And their 3 jars of "display"- it had candies in it- but looks like no one is allowed to eat it coz there is no utensils for it. Compared to the rest of the buffet food, the desserts was definitely the biggest disappointment.

Service was okay, it looked like they lacked staff- there was only a couple of people clearing all across where I was sitting. A bit of plate pile up situation, but they got all my orders right so I wasnt too fussed..

Oyster fans- should definitely go try. And definitely keep an open mind when you arrive- like i say, i was shocked by how great the west africa oyster tasted!

So much I have heard how Yamm is the best buffet restaurant in HK. Soooo my friend and I went to lunch buffet there for the first time. The decor was pretty nice and hip. There are plenty of space between table where you can have a more intimate conversation. Great to go on a date smile

Servers were polite and professional. They gave us a variety of bread to start. We dipped it with olive oil and balsamic. smile

There were good numbers of cuisines to choose from e.g. Indian and Thai curry, cold appetizers, salad, pasta, smoked salmon, soup, etc. As for sashimi, tappanyaki food, undo soup, we gotta place an order through servers. There were many cakes and ice-cream. Better if they have chocolate fondue. hehe One drawback though, one of the cold mushrooms just tasted awful real awful.

Overall, it's worth trying and going back again! Go Yamm! Will try dinner next time.

Very Nice Tea Buffet Smile Aug 30, 2009
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
Very Nice Buffet. Not much people here today so we are really having a relax time. Because the food area is quite small, can imagine it will be very crowded if fully booked.

As a tea buffet, 'salt' food is quite nice. Lots of varieties on sandwich which is nice. The 'squid' ball is super good. The Congee is very nice too.

Dessert is excellent. The chocolate mousse is great. The New york cheesecake is very good. THe chesnet pie is good. TIramisu is a bit too sweet. They do have lots of variety on desserts. Great for those who are dessert lover.

Service is great. They clean up the plate and refill water very regularily. The cappacino is just fair.

Area is great. They do have different tables setting which is perfectly suit large group or small group gathering.

Tea buffet is a bit too short, only 2 hours. It will be great if there is also sald available.

Last night we (6ppls) disappointed by:
    1. NO UNI (we expected unlimited uni even we seated at 8pm. The key reason why we picked yamm because we were attracted by lots of good comments on Yamm’s uni……sighs….)
    2. Very limited oyster, my fd waited at the oyster bar for over 10mins at around 8:45pm, then he requested manager to refill oyster bar. Few minutes later, that manager only gave him a plate with 4 pcs; obviously, they have no intention to refill the bar. Reminder, that was not 9pm yet, and buffet suppose finish at 10pm.
    3. Very limited ham, too.

They did offer us JUICES or SOFT DRNKS as compensation at the beginning, after we expressed our great disappointment, we had buy 6 get 1 free + juices on our final bill….
