i have ordered this with pig's liver and noodles...$25

liver is smooth and won't be too raw and too old..... it's fresh and portion is quite alot....

noodles is ok, not too soft or too hard.... alot too, i can't even finished that...

soup base is not too spicy... and have some medicine taste...but MSG is a lot and i needa drink a lot of water after that...

i have ordered cold lemon tea as well...have 4 slices of lemon and tea is too dilute and not much ice,.....

i want to say 九菜芽菜腐皮 少左好多!

Comfort Noodles at it's best Smile Feb 11, 2012

Since a sweet friend introduced this cramped, but oh so delicious place to me a couple of years ago, I never failed to visit them once in a couple of weeks.

I just really like the powerful 'Sun Lat' soup base in combination with the medium level of chilli. As a topping I mostly choose the minced meat, beef slices, extra bean sprouts and pickled veggies on top.

My hand picked Yunnan Sun Lat spicy noodle looks like this:
    Till the last drop :)
    Till the last drop :)

You start by picking a soup base:
    1) Plain beef/pig bouillon
    2) Sun Lat bouillon
    3) Ma Lat bouillon

For the latter two you can decide on a level of spicyness, ranging from sieuw lat (little) to dai lat (extreme). I tried dai lat once when I was feeling opportunistic, and believe me my lips looked like they were injected by 10 ampoules of Botox at the end of the evening.

Secondly you can choose from about 40 different kinds of toppings, varying from beef brisket, fatty beef, lobster balls, veggies to beef/pig offals (for those who seek a more adventurous bowl of noodles).

As last you can tell them what kind of noodles you want. There is instant noodles, rice vermicelli, udon and Mei Sin on the list. Most people will go for Mei Sin.

It's a great little place when you are in for a quick but delicious bowl of spicy Yunnan noodles. You frequently will be asked to share a table or will be placed next to someone who slurps extremely loud, but who cares? It's cheap and wonderful.
