Well, only if you order super, or super duper spicy, then will you really be challenging the limits of the human body. But even at "large" spiciness, we were sweating and blowing our noses. Choose medium or mild if you want to taste your food properly.

Service was fast and no-frills, the toilet didn't flush and the place is quite narrow and easily crowded. Expect to pester the waiters to refill your tea.

We ordered the dan dan noodles which seemed to be made from regular ramen noodles you buy off the shelf in supermarket, which was a little disappointing but nonetheless it wasn't bad overall as the spice made up for it. The hot and sour noodles came in a red broth with a couple of large spoonfuls of chili paste, which we felt was more hot than mouth-numbing at first, but give it a few minutes and ants will be crawling on your lips and tongue. The sourness was overwhelmbed by the spice, and despite putting in plenty of extra vinegar, I couldn't taste much sourness. The saliva chicken was tender and juicy with a dollop of chili paste on top, the chilled cucumber was a little too oily (half drenched is an accurate description), but was flavourful and not too overpowering. The string beans won extra points for the slightly salty dried vegetables which complimented the minced pork well, and the string beans were blackened just enough to give it that smoky aroma.

After 3 cans of sprite and coke and plenty of tea to wash off that spiciness, we concluded that it's a nice place for a spicy meal, but too much spice and it loses the meaning of tasting your food. We'll go down a notch next time, after all, it's not a competition.

This place also churns out very nice and authetic sichuan food. I have tried their 重慶酸辣粉 (tangy and delicious), 口水雞 and chilli chicken legs, all of which were quite nice. I like the 口水雞 most coz the meat is really tender . Environment is certainly better than at Luen Kee nearby. One word of caution: if you really want your food to be extra spicy and hot you need to specify that at your order, otherwise they tend to produce mild dishes (perhaps in an attempt to accommodate the average patron). Well worth a try (and certainly the obvious choice when Luen Kee is closed)
