We went for dinner on a Sunday, the whole place was nearly packed. The two of us had to share a large table w/ another couple and also another family of 3. Although the sitting area will not be considered as comfy, but w/ the friendly service from the owner ... it was still acceptable for us.

    - Mango Lassi: The colour looks a bit artificial, and it tasted slightly different from the Mango Lassi I had before in other Indian restaurants.

    - Chicken Tandoori: No complaint, simply delicious. tongue

    - Lamb Knee Masala: This exceeded our expectations. Juicy ..... and kept the lamb flavour (not overcook at all).tongue

    - Garlic Naan Bread: This was ok.

Overall, for the price we paid for, it was really good value. But I think next time I would either come earlier or on a weeknight, and hopefully there will be less people.

Great Daal Smile Sep 26, 2010

Overall good value Indian food. We ordered take away which came quite quickly within 10 mins, probably because we got there before 7pm.

The best item was the Daal which was flavoursome and went well with the Naan. Then there was the Chicken Tikka which was recommended here by many other people, so we tried it which was very good. The only dissapointing dish was the Lamb curry which wasnt hot enough and was just average.

Nice but slow Just OK Aug 17, 2009

Decided to try this as it looks tasty from across Som Tum....alas, looks can be so deceiving.

Ordered briyani rice + chicken, mutton kadai curry, fried cabbage.Enough for 2 ppl.

Food took ages to arrive. After 30-40minutes, the mutton curry came in a mini wok, served cold! Briyani Rice was better, warm , quite fragrant but a bit too oily. Curry was a disappointment..took ages to come, served cold, and not even spicy when its the spiciest on the menu! Worst was our vege came the last, after all our main meal were served and in our stomach.....

And to say that there were only 3 tables of customers (in total less than 15 ppl) for that night...i wonder how they cope with higher volume of customers..

Maybe their naan breads are tastier and served WARM!

After reading the good reviews online, decided to come try out this little Indian food place. 2 of us ordered naan bread to go with chicken tikka and mutton kadai. Since we came rather early (before 7pm), food was served promptly.

Both of us were very impressed by the quality of food. The chicken tikka was sizzling hot and meaty, while the mutton kadai was nicely cooked with just the right spiciness. The naan bread was also warmed up nicely. I didn't order any drinks to go with my meal, but the owners smartly gave me a cup of cold water without me asking. Such service is way better than a lot of restaurants including those high-class and those located at hotels.

If you are craving for Indian food, check this place out! (The owner / chef used to work for one of the restaurants at the Peak).

Good for not Great! Just OK Dec 02, 2008
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
After strolling around this site, I was quite glad to find an Indian restaurant in the neighborhood. I have been craving it for for a while, since I first came to HK. So I made the stroll down Electric Rd to find this little place.

Upon finding the wet market, I made my way up to the 2nd floor and found this little place. My first impression, was good, it was actually Indian people serving and cooking. Not that I have anything against Chinese (I myself am one), but it would be quite odd to have them serving me Naan. The boss (I assume) was quite friendly, so I ask for a menu, and check it out.

It was small, which for the size of the establishment, was very acceptable. So a quick scan and I found what I was coming for, Mutton Curry. Ordered 2 more pieces of Naan to go with it. What's curry without something to mop it up? Had another look at the menu to scan what else was they had., The menu said they had a tandoor oven, I never got to see it, but quite hopeful about the Naan.

Upon the foods arrival, it looked great, exactly what I was expecting. Nothing fancy, but just good 'ol curry. With my first taste I had a puzzled reaction, something was missing. Dipped into another piece, and it finally hit me. It was spice, there was no heat in it at all. Now I'm no expert in Indian food, but I do know spice is an important aspect of the cuisine. Thought about it for a second, while continuing to eat, and it dawned on me, that it was probably toned down (or taken out), to suit the HK palette. Disappointed at the lack of chilli's in my dish, I carried on eating. The mutton itself was good, nice and tender pieces, which were very flavorful in the sauce it was in. The naan, was also quite good, big fluffy morsels of bread that was just perfect for dipping into the curry. I had even ordered 2 pieces thinking that it wouldn't be enough, but it was. At lesat I have some leftover sauce and bead that I can have for a midnight snack.

All in all, the food was good, but not great. I'm sure there are many more Indian restaurants in HK that have better, but for a quick fix. It was satisfying.
