second visit review Smile Feb 11, 2010

brought my friend here for a cheap meal out, after accidently walking into a expensive restaurant in mongkok...

go here around 8pm and queued for about 15 minutes...which is very quick considering there was about 16 people in front of us...

as we queued we looked at the menu and decided to order a salted fish chciken claypot, a spare rib with preserved sausage claypot and a small oyster cake

you have to buy your own drinks and bring it in

although its tight to sit down, the atmosphere is good, and they are reasonably clean for my standards!!!

as a BBC (british born chinese) i would never dream of eating in these places, but after my local hong kong friend brought me here for the first time a few years back i cann;'t stop thining about this place

the oyster cake came out first on greaseproof paper served with chilli bean sauce... the chilli bean sauce tasted very salty and did not compliment the oyster cake at all!!!

the oyster cake was crisp, light and tasty.. i ended up eating it with out the chilli sauce

the two rice pots folllowed after a while, the chicken and salted fish was good... the salty fish wasn't salty in a way where you need to drink loads of water

and the spare rib and sausage was so nice ... the price you pay, you actually get alot of meat/ filling and the rice wasn't burnt at all

i love this place and it will certainly fill you up on a low budget!!!

After my tiring working day, it's good to have something nice to compensate my hard work. My friend picked this choice n we went there at 11 pm something. A queue wasthere. It is such famous place for having the bowled rice. I have been here once before. That time I didn't feel anything special but this time I could really say it's a good one. I took preserved sasuage rice, he took chicken palm n rib rice. We ordered another oyster cake n 介菜肉片咸蛋湯,everything is nice. Preserved sasuages were not too salty n fat, it was just right. My friends rib rice was so so, not too special to me. The soup amazed me tho, it was very tasty, but I dunno if they put MSG inside, I felt not thirsty but it's quite salty. Oyster cake was crispy n full of big oyster, it was really a nice dish!!!it closes early, last order at around 12am, a lot of people missed their chance, make sure u go before 1130pm, it will be secure of making sure getting a seat

EXCELLENTLITTLE FIND!! Smile Dec 14, 2009

as a british born chinese i'm very fussy with hygeine

my local hong kong friend took me here and my god what a excellent find

not only is the menu in english and chinese but its mega cheap!!!

three of us ordered a soup, very tasty however slightly heavy on the msg
we ordered a large fried oyster pancake, this is the best i've had, it wasn't greasy and stodgy, it was *i want more* you have to order it!!!

this placeapparently is very popular amongst the locals in hong kong

you have to queue, but expect to queue in the winter months

they don't serve drinks...so buy the drinks in the 7/11 across the road

we had a beef and egg rice, a salted fish and chicken and a preserved meat one

the preserved meat was my favourite, very fragrant however the belly pork was very fatty... you can add a sausage at a cost with any of the clapots

the salty fish and chicken was also very nice, i found the beef one a bit boring...probably due to the fact you have to crack a egg into the rice...cover with the lid and wait a while...

however this place is so nice i cann't wait to go back when i'm next in hk!!!!

with soup, oyster pancake and three claypot rice for 3 people $130!!!!
    excellent, must order!!!
