We ordered the Corned beef hash and egg in a bun, French toast and 2 x cold milk tea- But apparently we ordered the 'corned beef, egg bun' thing wrong so he yelled the correct way to say it, then when we checked to see if they did french toast at lunch time he just said 'Of course we do french toast - we're open for business!'
(As aggressive as this sounds, he was actually quite sweet, after he had served us our food he would peer around the corner with a huge smile everynow and then to check up on us - He was kind of like your regular sweet, old nutty grandpa)
''daan ngau bao'' - nice and hot and the bun was nicely toasted - nice and crispy beef-side, soft on the outside.
French toast - Not like your regular HK style french toast with filling in the middle and deep fried, instead it is pan-fried and drizzled with condensed milk. There is also more of an eggy taste and a softer texture, so it's perfect if you don't have much of a sweet tooth
Cold milk tea - Came in a Schweppes bottle, and I have to admit I thought it was one of the best i''ve tasted - Some cold milk teas have a very diluted taste (probably because of the amount of ice they add) and other places taste very heavy and are too thick/filling - but I thought this place had the right balance
To me, the food we ordered today was a bit of a miss ...but the tea won me over
Alot of the other customers were eating noodles and it looked quite good, so the next time i'm back i'll be enjoying an ice cold milk tea with a nice big steaming bowl of noodles
