Never again after last time  Aug 12, 2012

This used to be one of my favourite restaurants in HK. I'd go there at least once a week but this visit put me off going back. The attitude of the manager towards us in general was quite rude and made us feel like we were causing her great inconvenience by being there. Also, one item we ordered just didn't turn up and with no explanation. When the bill came I mentioned it to her and she blatantly ignored me and wouldn't even comment on it. I think we spent around $800 for 2 people. Overall a bad experience.

It's a shame because the food there is great and the owner and sushi chefs are very friendly.

    Doubt I will go back.

One of the best in HK Smile May 09, 2011

One of the best Sushi restaurants in HK. Decoration is neat and comfortable. Must sit at Sushi counter and ask for Chef's recommendation. The quality of seafood is top class and comparable to 5-star hotel Japanese restaurants. However, the Chef is much better than most others. One of the few true expert sushi chefs in HK. If you understand sushi, you will know what I mean. Don't expect to be cheap because you get what you pay for. All raw seafood are excellent.

it used to be one of my favorite Japanese restaurant for lunch and dinner as I love the service the food and the environment of the restaurant...

The owner of the restaurant is very nice as he always greet his guests in a very welcome manner..

Unfortunately my impression totally change after the dinner because of the service level and we feel discriminated as we didn't order sashimi or sushi or other expensive dish

We ordered some set dinner and some a la carte dinner on that night but not as lot as I am not feeling really hungry but want some Japanese food to treat myself

Not sure whether the food we ordered are not as expensive as the sashimi or sushi we used to order.. the attitude of the manager together with the waitresses are very bad

1.) no refill of hot tea throughout the meal
2.) when we asked if any dessert will be provided as we are offered before, the manager not only confirm with me immediately but the attitude is very bad
3.) don't feel we are welcome to order the set dinner

sincerely hope the service will be improved as soon as possible or else I won't come back anymore

Many good Jap food in Tin Hau! Smile May 18, 2009

This is the first time as June and Ketsu and 'Machi 1' are our Jap food choices as well.

Finally go there for lunch - I had their daily special while my dear picked sashimi rice.

First we had a salt escargot as appetizer. The escargot is not small and quite juicy. While it is covered with salt, the seafood flavor is strong indeed.

Then here comes my daily special with deep fried oyster, grilled beef steak, soba and sashimi rice. Every little bowl is satisfactory. The deep-fried oyster is still warm and remains its crunchy topping. And the oyster is juicy. For the grilled beef steak is a 50% above raw, the meat is thus chewy. For the soba, it is a nice one that the texture is elastic and the sauce is well-made. As for the little bowl of sashimi rice, it is good and the rice is just warm that is neither too hot to served but the right warmth. The portion of sashimi and rice is nearly 1:1 to my perspective. However, I prefer them to serve the sauce separately for the deep fried oyster and soba. Overall is quite nice with a reasonable price. And every little bowl can be finished, nice!

As for my dear's assorted sashimi, the sashimi are large chunks I can see. And the rice portion is as well 1:1. The flavor of the fish is satifactory, and the rice is of the same comment. Really very reasonable.

In addition, we have tofu and coffee ice-cream. It's ok, my coffee ice-cream get macadamia nuts tongue

Now it turns out to be difficult to pick which Jap restaurants in Tin Hau ...
