    Lunch Smile Oct 08, 2011
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
Both ordered the lunch special (HK$58) and a discounted drink.

The lunch set includes raw fish sashimi, marinated raw cabbage, stamed eggs, miso soup, dish of mea (pork, beef, chicken), and bowl of rice. All meats were marinated with japanese seasoning and taste pretty good.

It is a great deal in term of its quality and such low price for food, as well as the environment.

It's absolutely a great place for those who haven't try Japanese BBQ before.

We used the groupon coupon for this lunch.
Paid for $98 for an all you can eat BBQ lunch.
The premium beef tongue was OK, but I would much prefer the beef kalbi instead lol The beef kalbi is the best among all the food we had chopstick And honestly, other food just tasted so so.
Anyway, the lunch was great with such an outstanding groupbuy price!! hahahaha

    Dear Beef Lover, Japanese Lover!!!'

This is a Group of restaurant for BEEF, for Japanese food!!! smilesmilesmile
Once again the BEER is sooo good that make me feel so comfortable once I sit down.
As you know, a good COLD beer is very important for Japanese restaurant, it is almost the image of the restaurant, they chill the mug tongue Very good!

It is totally different feel than the TST branch, this one is SOOOO Japanese fish market style, IZAKAYA style!!
I feel like in some restaurant in Tokyo!

The 2nd issus make me like them is snacks, they call these "前菜", this is also very important in a real Japanese restaurant! Japanese Vegi, TouFu, OxTongue, Tomato, Oiishi !!!

Order one small Saki, cold, cheap, taste ok.

The BBQ stove here is different from the TST branch, they turn on the fire...wait for around 1-2 mins, then we start BBQ (TST one much quick, much powerful fire) Charcoal sound "tac...tac..tac..." comes out from the stove, like real charcoal....quite funny tongue
    However, we start BBQ meat.....

US Beef $79 --- ok, cheap and good
Wagyu $128 only ---- Yummy Yummy! Almost can compare to A4, at this price, execellent!!! Repeat one order lol
Ox Tongue $98 --- The thick one **** VERY JUICY VERY SPECIAL TEXTURE that you've never try in your life!!!! SOOO GOOD!!! tonguetonguetongue
Big King Prawn around $100 forget the price --- Fresh and good texture, ok!
Lamb rack $48 --- from Australia or New sealand, not Japan... ok la, very juicy, not those bad "sheep" smell!
The others....all ok, not bad but nothing special.

Dessert!!! Oh yes! Quite special desserts, you should go try!

OK, I will back sometimes again. It's a good recommandation for IZAGAYA smile

Their Manager remembers many returned customers so make you feel honorable. Their staff listen to you and make good and affordable recommendations.

This is one of the very few restaurants that my friends and I would make a second / third trip back within a short period of time which we did. I enjoy their all-you-can-drink package which is a very good deal for Fridays (no worries about getting up early next day).

Their beef is very good, especially the thick ox tongue. Budget-wise, you may choose their set meals.

Love their BBQ stove as I spent hours there but never get the stinky smell.

Very surprised with the food quality. There are so many choices on their a-la-carte menu.

驚喜! 可平可貴! 好味道! 友善! 選擇多! 絕對值得一試再試!

    A bit cheating! Cries Mar 16, 2009
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
Came here on 1 night whilst craving for Yakiniku - in a way, kind of regretted choosing to review and try here instead of sticking to Iroha 伊呂波, which is much better.
If I was here for the Pay What You Want Lunch offer, at least I could choose to pay what they deserve, but during dinner, I feel like my meal wasn't very good to be honest, considering we paid $795 or so for 2 people. We chose one of the many Set Menus, which is priced at $498 from memory. Also had to pay extra $20 for small appetizers of chinese 'four seasons beans' haha and some Tofu with no taste.
Here's a breakdown of the Set dinner for $498 - It has since changed a little from what others got for the same price, as the Wagyu Sashimi is not on the list anymore but the price is the same. If I only knew beforehand,.... hmmmmm... wouldn't have come here for dinner.:
    1) Salad with Tobbiko. Nice onion, garlic and vinegar based dressing albeit a plain salad.
    2) 2 x Large Prawns - quite fresh and tasty on the Yakiniku grill.
    3) 1 x Larger Scallop pre-diced - very fresh as well. Comes with herbed butter and grilled inside its own shell. May be personal but I've never really liked scallops cooked this way, but the positive thing is it was definitely fresh.
    4) Beef Tongue - super thin yet super tough, also very 'so'. Very not edible to be honest.
    5) 特選但馬和牛 - This was a very dishonest act by the restaurant. Very disappointed by their misleading advertisement. By Japanese's strict definitions, 但馬牛 must be from 兵庫県, as the genetics and steer line is what made 神戸/兵庫県牛 famous world wide in the first place. The genetics of every other famous 和牛 in Japan are all fully or partially derived from this highly marbled yet smallish sized steer's genetics, each cow traceable back to many generations (近江、松坂、飛騨、山型県米沢、前沢、信州、佐賀、etc. ) Even most Australian Wagyus are derived mainly from the 但馬牛 line mixed with another famous 和牛 strand with a bigger steer size.
The we got was hardly marbled, even though it was soft. Its from the leg, as admitted by the staff. The definition of 特選和牛 was therefore way off the line, as 特選 in Japanese grading terms is the highest class of Wagyu possible in most restaurants (except in exceptional cases) and must be A5 grade in colour and marbling. Here, the Wagyu wasn't even A3 grade, more like A2 grade. See the photo to determine yourself.
    6) 伊達赤豚 with Tomato. This wasn't well marbled but was tasty, the tomato inside added a good flavour to the meat. Not impressive, but above-average.
    7) Assorted Vegetables - from memory, Corn Cobb, Green/Yellow Peppers, Eringi Mushrooms pre-sliced, 1 Shiitake Mushroom, Japanese Leek, Onion.
    8) Dessert - Some kind of Hokkaido Pru-lin Pudding, not dissimilar to a Panna Cotta albeit in a glass, served with berries
    ADDED:
Belly of 米沢 beef, with adequate marbling equivalent to about A3-A4. However too much garlicky taste in between.
    .
Overall, too expensive and the food is so-so, even below average. I think I won't be as exploratory next time - although with the new Pay What You Wish lunch set, I might be tempted to go there and be a bastard, pay only $10HKD when I leave, just to get my revenge on serving me bad wagyu.

We spent around HKD1,300 for the dinner.

It's newly re-decorated to look at a typical Jap. Seafood marketplace.

Excellent service with reasonably good food (a variety of beef and some speciality Sashimi and seafood).

Beef tongue not as good as expected.

The 2nd yr anniversary special is worth a try given the price of around HKD500.

It now tends to close around 11 to Midnight only and no longer 'til 3am.

It's still a bit pricey however the excellent service makes a difference I guess.

A Hong Kong workmate tell me to find restuarant in this web site, yes, very good! I can see all japanese restuarant i like here, so.... i would like to drop few lines heresmile
It's a long time not eating Yakiniku since I'd moved to HK for a year. Miss home a lot!!! Since Tokyo is very popular for Yakiniku, I normally go to 居酒处 everyday afterwork alone or with collegues and then home, seldom spending time in Yakiniku restuarant, so this is my first experience in HK.
This is a very good Japanese restuarant that comparing to my home. They serve very good beef, good service as all waiters are very nice... speak a little bit Japanese, drink a little bit with us, thank you smile
A HK friend order us the anniversery 50% off dinner set, which is very good! We drink a lot of beers and sake as the same as we normally in Japan. Then we continue to order more meats and seafoods, 6 BIG men....very drunk nei!!!
A very happy night to celebrate my 1 year old in HK company, GOOD GOOD, an excellent Japanese dinner in HK lollollol THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!

Outrageously Bad Service Cries Feb 16, 2008
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
It was the first time that I went to this restaurant and I swear I would not go there ever again.

First of all, their food was just okay, very mediocre I would say. I think it was a bit pricey for such mediocre food. What's really bad is their efficiency and their service. We ordered like 5 dishes and quite a while after 3 were served, we began to ask the waitor if the Eel Rice and the Pork Roll are coming. His reply was, "Today's kitchen is a bit busy, you have to wait for a while." Okay, then we just waited. Then after like 20 minutes, another waitress came over and said, "The Eel Rice that you ordered was out of stock." We were a bit dissatisfied as we had already asked them to check for us and after such a long time, they came to tell me that it was out of stock! By the way, she didn't even say sorry to us. It was ok, and we just ordered another dish. At the same time, we reminded them that the other dish had not come yet. And their reply was that those bbq dishes require more time to prepare. Then even after the newly ordered dish was served, the Pork Roll still hadn't arrived. I asked another waitor to check for us, and he returned saying that the dish wasn't ordered at all. I got really pissed off and I tried to seek the manager from the reception which is next to our table. I complained to the rexeptionist and she didn't even look at me and address me, all she cared was to say goodbye to a few "tv stars" leaving the restaurant at the moment. Then the manager came over and said sarcastically, "Don't be angry, I'll fire her tomorrow." She repeated that more than 3 times to us and then she said to that impatient waitress, "I'll fire tomorrow in a light-hearted tone." And till then I had not heard a single apology at all. I wonder how could a restaurant run with such inefficiency and bad service. They did not even know how to respect customers. We were not being unreasonable at all, we just need them to show some regret and curtesy. But they had none. I would definitely ask all my friends not to go there anymore.
