Brilliant service! Smile Feb 03, 2013

Went there with my friend for lunch, we sat outside the restaurant which was great because the weather was lovely. The waiters were all very friendly and helpful. My friend said she loved the bread with her set lunch, the waiter heard her and said, 'let me know if you need more, I can give you some.' lol wow we were so impressed!

My friend ordered a steak set lunch and I ordered a grilled chicken salad. They were both very yummy ! mad The steak was juicy and tender, even the side dish (chips) was nice- crunchy! My grilled chicken salad was good but the crispy bacon was a bit hard... however, I love the salad dressing, it was great with the fresh cruchy lettuce! lol lol

I ordered hot milk tea but found it too strong, so the waiter kindly gave me a cup of milk to add to the tea - hmmm... silky smooth... smile

Nice environment + good service + yummy food + resonable price = Will definitely go again!

is it still up to standard? Smile Oct 30, 2011

on this current trip to hong kong
alot of my favourite restaurant has disappointed me big time
luca is one of my favourite restaurants
and i always make a effort to go here with friends
fingers crossed, the food is still up to standard
we booked a table for 6 on a thursday at 7pm
it was a lovely evening, not too hot and a little breeze
along with the food we opened about 5 bottles of wine, from chianti, shiraz and something else, i have to admit, i thought the first choice was good which was recommended by the manager sam... chianti.
then we tried the shiraz, im not too keen on shiraz as it always had a bitter after taste, but besides being full bodied this one that was brought out to us was also smooth and very easy to drink

we ordered a selection of starters
nachos.... very nice, and cheesy, if you dont like cheese, then i wouldn't recommend this
grilled squid... this is a definately must order, if they have it in season... squid, chargrilled to perfection, as i cook alot i know you need skills to cook it so its tender and just cooked, sqeeze of lemon ...flavour is awesome lol.... p.s the tenticles are the best part!!!
creamed mushrooms...this is my favourite, i always order this when i go to luca, and it certainly hasn't disappointed me
jalapeno quesadilla, these was very nice, little kick, soft, and light highly recommend again

    main course

ceasar salad... if you crave a salad, then this is what you need, well dressed leaves and generous on tha parmasan cheese
baby ribs, great flavour, not too soft and not too chewy just the right texture, you also get gloves to eat them with if you dont like to get your hands dirty, highly recommend
ox tail pasta.... the day before i had the best ox tail, so nothing was going to compare to that taste... ok, well luca's ox tail was cooked very nicely, however i couldn't help but compare the ox tail to the one i had the night before in macau
parma ham pizza... i seriously think they've improved their pizza base, if was more thinner and softer, the flavour was there...highly recommend
pork knuckle...the star of the restaurant...highly recommend, its served off the bone with mash, red cabbage and a sauce... i have feedback regarding this meal... more mash PLEASE!!! the skin reminds me of suckling pig, its certainly not a meal for those who's watchign their figure or diets...however if your one who loves food, then i definately recommend this

the evening itsaelf was very relaxed, we wasn't pushed to return our table, and we sat for 5 hours!! enjoying the food and drinking, and towards the end of the night we even got chatting to the staff more, and the head chef Alfred, who was on the hong kong programme came out and had his photo taken with us, we gave him a few feedbacks, which he took in

this meal was definately the highlight of my hogn kong trip this year

    food bill for 6 $1500

went into tai mei tuk to relax with friends and to go back to my favourite restaurant

did it still live up to my high expectations?

although the menu's been updated since last time i came

they was more than happy to provide me something off the menu

its wild mushrooms in a cream sauce with crusty bread... its delicious, and tasted the same as it did before... i was so happy when they said yes they can do it for me!!!

between three girls, we ordered their speciality, which we call in english a ham shank

oh my god, its so tasty... i couldn't understand why i never ordered it!!

its not cheap though, approx $300

the ham shank came on a bed of mash with a sweetish sauce, the ham wasn't salty at all and the best part was the skin...it was crispy... like suckling pig!!!tongue
    smileshocked

    i know!!!

def well worth the penny we paid!!!

Excellent Food & Service Smile Mar 28, 2009

The day was my wife's first birthday after we said "Yes, I do!" end of last year. I wanted to be special and we did come to the right place! The staff guides me all the way from MK to resturant (I didn't know Ting Kwok road is so looong)

We ordered 1 salad, 1 pizza, 1 pasta, 1 chicken dish and 2 dessert. They were all excellent (especially the salad!).

The service was exceptional. It is what you can expect only from a 6 star hotel with a friendly touch. The staff are very caring but not over caring and very responsive yet patient.

The environment is also good. After driving for a few minute next to the beach, You sit down in ther resturant, you feel like relaxed and getting away from HK already.

Awesome snack in Taipo Smile Mar 16, 2009
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
It's good to get outta the city once in a while, to enjoy the fresh air and never imagined beautiful environment in hk. you'd never expect to get good italian food in taipo, but luca is always a good surprise.

actually everytime i go to taipo i would visit luca. this time i just wanted a light snack cuz we were biking and all so decided to stop by luca for some pizza. the ingredients were really fresh and tasty, and this time i noticed they offer half-half pizzas. when you order one pizza it's always hard to get what both ppl want so this is a great choice! my half was a truffles + mushroom pizza and my friend ordered his meaty deluxe, which he reallly liked too smile i know they also have weekday lunch specials!

Good food, good environment Smile Mar 16, 2008

We dont go to Tai Po often but each time we go, we will without fail dine at Luca. The environment is friendly, so are the staff. Food is just great. Our favorite is BBQ chicken wings which are very juicy. They have a great pasta collection and you cant get wrong with anyone. Their BBQ ribs are usually good, but at times may be just a touch chewy. It is a great place to hang out even with kids as it is outdoor (with shades) - though I would suggest going there in Spring or Autumn only as the unbearable summer heat would spoil the otherwise lovely meal.
