From so so to bad Cries May 01, 2013
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
Arrived about 12:15 to celebrate our friends birthday. Since it is a public holiday lucky to get a table even this early. After ordering the food the first to arrive was the Train fried rice. This is basically fried rice with chicken and some vegetables. Not bad but bit greasy for me. The birthday girl ordered a vegetable green curry. However, while she enjoyed it everyone else found it too spicy and overpowered the vegetables. Beef belly curry was not bad and finally when almost finished the appitizer arrived. This was the platter selection. Satay was not bad, spring rolls and fish cakes pretty tasteless. Overall food was just fuel and nothing special. What made the whole experience bad for us was that because a queue was building up they gave us the bill, while I was still eating, without us requesting it. Complaints fell on deaf ears as their eyes just seemed to be full of dollar signs at the queue.

Nice food , nice service  Smile Dec 02, 2012

Was in Sai Kung with some friends for dinner and we had a small
dilemma which thai restaurant should we try? We finally settled on
May’s Sawadee Thai and I’m glad we did. The service was excellent and
the food was outstanding to say the least. The dish I recommend the
most is Chicken Yellow curry in Bread , the flavor was intense and deeply satisfying. It
    most definitely hit the spot.

Me and my friends ordered Egg & Oyster Grilled, Grilled pork neck, ,prawn cake, sate, shared the dishes
and we all gave them the thumbs up lol

Overall it has been a good night and I thoroughly recommend this
place. Price was decent, staff was friendly and most important of all
food is delicious. I will definitely come back again soon.

旺泰特食is at the heart of the Sai Kung downtown. The restaurant is small, but never lack of diners and not much to choose from. However, every dish they offer are handle with the care it deserve and am sure you would able to taste it yourself. The quality of the services is outstanding, highly efficient.

    Cuisine: Thai
    Food rating: 5/10*
    Service: 5/10
    Ambiance: 4/10
    Price: HK$110pax

    Grilled Pork Neck (6/10)
Refer to to the previous post.

Fried rice with minced beef with hot Thai basil & chilli (5/10)
Refer to to the previous post.

    Pomelo Salad (3/10)
The Pomela was fresh, firm and sweet. The salad lacked some dressing and the nutty flavour was kinda different from usual, slight wired.

Chicken Yellow curry in Bread (4/10)
The curry have great colour, delicate and rich with good heat. The chicken was fairly seasoned and tender. However, the curry was poured inside the bread, which I suppose it should match like naan/roti. But the texture its different, not my cup of tea.

    Coconut stir-fried vegetable (4/10)
The veg was stir-fried with chilli and coconut. It was nicely seasoned, slightly sweet and the veg wasn’t over cook, yet it was still crispy.

    Egg & Oyster Grilled (3/10)
It wasn’t the most ideal dish, personally I don’t think this is local Thai food, perhaps localised. The omelette was seasoned nicely; it wasn’t too dry or undercooked. The baby oysters were juicy and creamy. Not bad, but just wired combination.
    3/10

The restaurant has never take care the food without the care it deserves that is exactly why it is always packed with diners. More importantly, the price is unbelievably cheap, especially at this kind of standard.

Give me a thumbs up if you like it!

A hidden gem in sai kung!  Smile Sep 09, 2012

    Cuisine: Thai
    Food rating:64/10*
    Service: N/A
    Ambiance: 3/10
    Price: HK$75pax

    * Food Rating: 6/10 is equivalent to 1 Michelin star, 8/10 to two Michelin stars, and 9/10 or above to three Michelin stars

    炸虾饼 (6/10)
The batter was nicely made; if a hint of cayenne pepper was used to give some spiciness would be just perfect. The prawn cake was nicely made, slightly sweet and fairly season. Matched perfectly with the sweet and chill sauce.
    泰色串燒 (6/10)
It was refreshing to go back to basics and cooked over charcoal. The flavour from open flame was stunning. The marinade had a great balance of galangal, garlic, oyster sauce, soy sauce and palm sugar. The marinate was combined well to coat the beef, chicken and pork. The meats were crispy on the outside and juicy in the inside, fairly tender.
However, I know it is too much to ask, but for extra fragrance and impact, the meats should cooked on lemongrass skewers.
    烤猪颈肉 (6/10)
Another charcoal dish! Again it was nicely marinated, this is a wee bit more burnt then the skewers
    香叶肉碎饭 (5/10)
The rice was moist! Nicely seasoned, with sesame oil and soy sauce, slightly spicy. However, lacked the herby taste.
    6/10

It was only a take away experience, but without a question, it has its quality!

Give me a thumbs up if you like it!
