The location is great and the atmosphere is not bad. the tables ain't too cramped up. However, the food is just not up to par. The noodle itself is actually not bad but the soups are very disappointing. I really like how they offer "combo" lunch sets though (half size ramen + side dish).

Came here on a tuesday night around 8.30 after finding out that Spice nearby was unavailable that night. But there was still a que. So we walked around and 4 or 5 tables later we were seated. We looked through the menu and decided we wanted ramen. I've only been once and tried their pork bone soup with roasted pork and kimchi, which was very good. The portions of noodles here are ginormous...and we wanted other items too, so we decided on the following: This was their springy ramen with one piece of japanese style char siu (half lean, half fat). The bowls are very cute indeed and the portion was just right, paired with one other a la carte item. Boring, but its components are good. Also, it is quite disappointing they only do mini-sizes for two flavours - higomonzu and soy sauce.... The photo here was taken after one piece had been consumed...(i need to stop doing this!) and there was plentiful of bonito flakes and sauteed garlic and some dark sweet soy sauce which all combined to give the seared tofu lots of flavour - very good! The cod is the standard miso marinated cod. The price is quite all right, considering Japanese restaurants like to charge a lot for this very simple dish because of its popularity. The fillet had been marinated very well, giving it a nice even flavour throughout the flakes and was slightly stronger in taste than Nobu's. I would've liked it even more if the chef had grilled it longer to give it a slight burn on the edges like Nobu's for crispiness =P. All in all I enjoyed this dinner a lot and can't wait till my next visit.

4 hours of intense tennis later, my legs are feeling like lead. I rush to get off the court so I can meet my buddy S who's in town for a weekend of intense Pilates instruction. Staying in a TST hotel, we decided to meet at the Miramar Shopping Centre, renovated recently to reveal a little freshness and more to offer in F&B. I had read about Noodle House Ippei An and decided to see if it was possible to grab a comforting bowl of noodles. At quarter to 10 in the evening, our wait was about 5 minutes, which I'm told isn't too bad. After much deliberation, we settled on the house specials. The Nagasaki Ramen (長崎拉麵) can feed 2 hungry people easily especially if you order sides. The other choice which we passed on was the Higomonzu Ramen. This is the ever popular pork bone based soup stock which is full of flavour and served generally with well stewed pork and liquid-centred coddled eggs. Back to Nagasaki - which lived up to our server's description of a very rich and flavourful stock, but with hardly a trace of grease. You can drink up without any guilt here. The well balanced toppings of pork slivers, white-neck clams, squids, Japanese fish cake and a farmer's field of cabbage, chives and mushrooms made for a hearty but healthy supper. My only complaint was that the noodles weren't as springily al dente as I usually like them but I suppose we could have made that request upfront. Our starter the Ippei-An salad (一平安沙律), chock full of garden greens, topped with corn, Japanese crab stick, roe and a side of mash, was delightfully chilled and fresh. Wonderful appetiser. A nice casual joint, set like a bar rahter than a noodle house with very soft down lighting to enjoy a ramen fix. I had a quick glance but the rather big sake/shochu menu keeps it interesting too. I have always wanted to pay a visit to this restaurant ever since my boyfriend told me its ramen is pretty decent, and he turns out to be right! Our orders: 長崎拉麵 - quality soup, loads of vegetables and seafood 秘製拉麵 - quality soup, awesome pork! 青椒麵豉青瓜 - authentic and really delicious miso with crunchy cucumber 雞柳蔥串燒 and 雞絞肉串燒 - both above par With decent service (most of the waiters and waitresses speak Japanese) and authentic food, Ippei-An has surely become one of my favorite ramen restaurants!

this place is not easy to find in the maze of miramar plaza. then the sign says "ramen & bar" if you miss the fine print below or the big chinese characters. the inside decor reminds me of some mom & pop eateries in tokyo high-rise malls. some of the staff even have japanese accent when speaking cantonese! the most tasty dish is eel pancake. the eel is embedded inside the pancake, with shaved fish sprinkled on top. it is like pizza, except soft, not crispy. best dish for drinks is the assorted skewers. bite size chicken wings, chicken or pork cubes, bacon wrapped around asparagus. relatedly, the grilled taro roots are unique. each piece looks like a giant scallop, but tastes chrunchy. the most unusual dish is kimchi hot pot. you have to try it to believe it! don't want to spoil the suspense here. ah yes, the ramen is a must. how do they cook the pork slices so tender & flavorful? don't miss the happy hours -- beer for hkd25.

Went to Noodle House Ippei-An randomly with 6 friends cause my friend was performing at the Miramar Shopping Center. Environment: Decent looking place and didn't feel cramped at all. Place was pretty dimly lit. Service: First thing I noticed was our waiter was actually...Japanese. I've actually never been to a ramen store in Hong Kong with a Japanese waiter so I was pretty surprised. My friend said his friend knows the owner and they employ a lot of Japanese employees. The waiter spoke decent Cantonese and the food came pretty quickly. Here is what I ordered: Ippei-An Fried Chicken (this was shared): This was really tasty. Really crunchy on the outside and the chicken on the inside wasn't dry at all. Nicely spiced. This is perfect finger food when watching the game Curry Ramen (not from lunch set): I know this is a strange choice for first time at a ramen place but somehow I was really craving curry and wanted to try their ramen so I went with the curry ramen. Curry was pretty good but the star really was the ramen. Pretty good chewiness and good texture. Broth had pretty intense flavor as well. What really won me over was the lack of MSG. Usually at most noodle places I get this really dry feeling in my mouth afterwards but not here at Ippei An. Thumbs up. Overall I thought this is definitely one of the better ramen places in Hong Kong. Considering I live in HK Island I wonder if the Causeway Bay store is just as good. Definitely will be coming back again.

I am fan of Japanese ramen and I have been in search for great ramen in Hong Kong for a while; however, quality varies by a large margin based on experiences. Noodle House Ippei-An at the Miramar Shopping Centre @ TST is (or should I say used to be) one of my favorite ramen locations. Maybe it is just a coincident but ever since it opened its franchise at the Elements, the quality is no longer being maintained. Let me explain in more details. (1) Baked Eggs 日式煎蛋 I think the name of this dish has been translated incorrectly but anyhow as long as it resembles Japanese pan-fried tamago or tamagoyaki, I would order it. However, it wasn't the quality I was looking for. It was fresh and soft but that was it. Not particularly sweet and it lacked the burn pattern / mark on the surface. Maybe that's why the dish name is not what it is called usually, which is tamagoyaki; but instead simply called baked eggs. (but why pan-fried eggs 煎蛋 in Chinese?) (2) Higomonzu Ramen 特製什棉豬骨湯拉麵 The first thing I noticed was the smaller portion of ramen and ingredients compared with my previous visits. The soup base was rather weak and the ramen was ... humm ... very ordinary and overly softened; not particularly delicious or special in terms of texture as well. Very disappointing indeed. The stewed pork was overly salty as well. Sigh ... I think I need to find another ramen location to replace this one. (I wonder if the Elements outlet is any better or at least of same quality as before) Likes: * Japanese ramen house decor * happy hour beer discount. Dislikes: * Crowded seating arrangement * Disappointing Ramen (weak soup base and soft noodles) * Portion seemed smaller than before Original Blog: http://jason-bonvivant.blogspot.com/2009/07/noodle-house-ippei.html Date of Visit: Jul 21, 2009 Other Ratings: Taste 3 | Environment 4 | Service 3 | Hygiene 4 | Value for Money 3

It's the first time since April 2008. Though the dishes remain unchanged, I am sure that the restaurant has raised its price for the second time. We ordered a ramen and my friend wanted a fried noodles and Yebisu beer. The environment was good with crowded atmosphere and some were Japanese, waiters were polite with fluent English and Cantonese. Overall, I would give it five stars though its pricing was a bit disappointing. What a remarkable experience it was and this restaurant was out of expectation because I had never anticipated that it could be as crowded as I thought. We two spent for around $180. It's okay for me. But if cheaper, it might be better.

Went there around 7:30 pm on weeday, got loads of people lining up for a table turned out have to wait for 30 minutes to get a table. Two people ordered - 2 x 拉麵 ( 1 x 雜錦豬骨湯拉麵 & 1 x 豬骨湯叉燒拉麵) - 1 x 鰻魚蝦肉芝麻餅 Cost round up HKD250 for 2. Not value for money and surely not worth to wait 30 minutes for this quality. 拉麵 tasted very very ordinary, soup is OK, noodle is marginally okay. dont understand why it attract so many people waiting for a table here. Quality wise, 札幌元祖北海道拉麵 or 函館元祖北海道拉麵 are much better choices for 豬骨湯拉麵. 鰻魚蝦肉芝麻餅, very ma ma One big weakness about this shop Believe wont go again during peak hour....
