The other day, I went to Kowloon City to visit a friend. She told me Kowloon City used to be one of the few good food places in HK (She is original HK person). She said here we used to find very traditional noodle shops, snake meal (I cannot believe it), and other Chinese Chau Jao style foods. Nowadays, Kowloon City became a Thai food center with more than 20 Thai specialized restaurant. She has been living here for decades and she decided to bring me to one of her favorite foods around. This noodle shop was not antique but she said it is so famous that I should try. Cannot imagine a shop like this can have 100+ Smiles in OP. Okay, lets go!
We did not order much but with one bowl of the famous beef noodle soup for each person. We did not wait long and the noodles were cooked and brought to us within 5 minutes. Firstly, the smell was completely different than what I tried in other noodle shops. You can smell a bit sweet and there are some kind of herbs I think (Not sure....). The noodles are also nicely cooked but I prefer those like in other noodles shop (More tender one). The beef belly was so surprised that they were cooked very soft. They must have used many hours to boil them until they are soft. The belly was definitely one of the best I tried. Some of the drawback is that the soup base is a bit too salty and not hot enough. Not sure whether they used MSG or not but try to avoid drinking them as I feel a bit thirty afterwards. Also, although the portion is quite large, $50 is a bit too expensive I think. Thanks Macy for bring me to this place. Lets catchup next time!

Being a student who studies abroad, I definitely crave chinese food when i'm in England and always try to fill my belly with as much chinese food as I can get my hands on when I spend holidays in Hong Kong. I've been to this restaurant a few times before and they never disappoint! Even though the prices increased, I still find what they charge fairly reasonable as inflation and minimum wage have clearly increased costs and spending for small business such as this restaurant. I also found the price change reasonable because the quality and quantity of the food remained constantly good! I ordered the minced pork rice and my friends shared the wonton and the signature beef noodle. We also ordered some snacks, including the deep fried chicken cartiladge, the soya chicken wings, the tofu with thousand year eggs and some stir fried vegatables. The food were all very tasty, especially my minced pork rice as it has been my favourite dish at this restaurant for quite some time. My friends and I had a very good time eating here as they did not rush us to leave the table as some other restaurants often do - they just let us sat, chatted and ate as long as we wanted. We left the restaurant paying around $80 each and all four of us felt that the dining experience was time and money well spent. We will definitely return to this restaurant in the future!

Having seen the rave reviews of this restaurant, my family and I decided to give it a try when we were in the neighborhood. Honestly, I was really disappointed (bordering pissed off) after the meal.
大婆牛肉麵 - the beef was really poorly marinated, if it was actually marinated in the first place; the soup was tasteless - it certainly qualified as the worst bowl of beef noodles I have ever had!
炸排骨 - the pork was dry, enough said
I will never ever come back again!!!

Went here for lunch with a group of friends after attending my friend's wedding ceremony.
Anyway, we all said that the noodles here are very big! I went for the wonton noodles which cost around $30 plus a soya bean drink which cost around $15. The wontons were huge and delicious! Not too raw and not too bad. The noodles were not as good, tasted a bit bland, but still pretty good!
Still it cost around $30 per bowl, not exactly cheap, but good enough!

First of all, i was always wanna try this place cuz is famous, so i give a shot, i would say not too bad, is above average however the spices is a bit over powered the actual taste of the beef which kinda sad that makes tasteless; something needs to praise is that it got a nice base for the soup, not too shabby for the noodle itself and the tenderness of the beef is just great. It has been a long when i go there so i dont remember the price
