Walked past this ramen place and no line waiting so we went in for a quick meal.

My wife ordered pork bone noodle and i ordered spicy ramen.

Restaurant was not even half full. We were the only orders as everybody else around us already eating. so its annoying why we had to wait more than 10 minutes for our ramen. cant imagine how long the wait would be during weekday lunch time!

    Finally the ramen came.

My spicy soup has virtually no taste, noodle was overcooked, and it was not even spicy! When i asked the waitress she said "chilly oil is coming". Are you kidding me! This is NOT how spicy japanese soup noodle is done. This is cheating! I could have brought my own chilly oil and make it on the spot!

Later my wife asked for more soup. The waitress answer was that she cant give more soup because "it would dilute the taste". Why? any other noodle place i can request more soup. charge me if you like. but not giving patron the option to get more soup is simply bad business. The main reason why they dont want to give more soup is puzzling. but my guess was that instead of boiling the soup on premise, they just add water to concentrate, and they dont want to even do extra work.

The bill came out to $146 for 2 of us. For that sort of quality and service, i would NEVER return. I was so upset did not even remember to take pictures!

No return business from us. Could get better taste and value cooking instant noodles at home!

Walked past this ramen joint so many times after it opened but somehow I did not get the urge to go in.

They used to just have ramens that were priced between $68-78 which is about the same price as the famous ramens.

Anyway, there were no photos before so it was like taking a risk if it was not nice.

About a few months later, they finally had product pictures of ramen and rices but only costing around $34-38 which meant the previous ramens were not doing well or they had no faith in serving it at that price.

Since it costs only $3X I dont have any expectations for it but at least I could find out the type of noodles they use and if it is good then I would probably try the more expensive ramens later on.

I ordered the ramen in spicy soup with beef and minced meat and rice, but the minced meat and rice was sold out.
So the guy asked if I wanted the Pacific Saury (Chaau doh yue) with rice so I ordered that instead.

The food came with a drink so I chose this herbal tea.

ramen in spicy soup with beef:

The broth was really spicy, it tastes exactly like those Korean Nong Shim cup noodles.
The ramen was similar to pasta and exactly the same type of noodles they used in FAIRWOOD's ramen king series.

    Pacific Saury with rice:

To be honest I thought the fish was marinated eel and not Pacific saury, but the guy insists it was Pacific saury.
Anyway, the texture of pacific saury is not like that.
Usually I hate Japanese rice because it is hard and heavy, but here the rice is a mix between Japanese rice and normal long grain rice. I would say 10% of Japanese rice and 90% long grain rice which made it easier to swallow and the taste was much nicer.

    Herbal tea:

I was not quite sure what this drink was, but it did not taste of any herbs nor was it flowery.
I was pretty sure it was water and coloured sugar syrup because the taste was very pleasant and there was no sour aftertaste or weird aftertaste that cordials give you.
When you see this drink, it is actually pink.

Must Try Ramen Smile Oct 29, 2012

    lol

I think this little store is really great. It is one of the best ramen restaurant I have been to in recent years. I had the roasted pork ramen. The pork just literally melted in your mouth. Very good soup base.

For those who wrote extremely bad review. I seriously doubt if it truly reflects this restaurant.

Give it a try. I personally highly recommend it.

    Disappointing...  Jun 18, 2012
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
    Terrible...

So...we walk in and the decor is tacky and lame...It's definitely overpriced for such tacky surroundings...

They got our order wrong (we ordered ramen with pork and were given prawns) and they totally forgot to put in our order for appetizers which we had to order a second time AFTER our meal...What kills me the most is that the server was oblivious to this and acted as if we were ordering our appetizers for the first time and the end of our meal when she clearly repeated our order to us at the start of our dinner...

To top it all off...the food was mediocre at best...Save yourself some money/time and go to Daruma on Tung Lo Wan Road...The prices are the same...but the food, atmosphere, and service are worth the 30 minute wait for a table...

    NEVER AGAIN...
