Always Great!! Smile Aug 08, 2011

Always fantastic. Frequent customers. Service is great, salads are great, environ isn't bad and we always leave full.

First time ordering wine we were sold the house wine as that was the preferred wine of customers. The staff didn't upsell us at all which I highly appreciate.

At Christmas we were given a voucher and a small teddy bear for the boy - small touches that make it a place to go again and again.

    Can't recommend it enough.

Nice quick dinner Smile Sep 24, 2010

    I ordered:
    Caprese salad $75.
Ravioli di ricotta cheese with spinach $108.
    Trifolata pizza cheese plus $140.

A lady named Ms Lam made the order by phone with me - a very trendy, stylish and polite young girl.
I drove there in 25 mins and the order was waiting for me already with 10% discount on self pick-up.

Food is good if you consider it as fast-food. Personally, do not wish to sit in, it's a bit too small & dark for me --- too packed to sit in. Good for a quick solution. My 2 big kids only like the pizza & pasta here within this radius.

Not as bad as some commented on their service & food.

    Celebration Smile May 06, 2010

Thank you for my family spending a night to celebrate my freedom after the examination.
We went to pizza express according to my will.

We had a set dinner of reasonable price.
    The set includes :
    bowlsalad
chopstick garlic bread / ball size bread
    chopstick a pizza
    chopstick pasta
    chopstick 4 cups of drinks

Salad of Arugula,Chicken, Avocado, Potato and mayo dressing. Everything i love is put together mixing a good starter as well as the best of the whole night lol
Ball size bread is just fair.
Salmon Pizza of crunchy crust is incredible nice!!lol
The pasta we ordered was spinach and cheese with tomato dressing. The sour taste of tomato goes with the the cheese perfectly.
We then ordered one extra pizza which is topped with sliced beef.smile

Just a gentle reminder : It was full house that night so booking is a must!

Surprisingly Good Food Just OK Jul 15, 2009
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
Sister and I came here for lunch the other day. I didn't hold any expectations after the debacle that happened at the Pizza Express in Soho a few months back (they charged us a ridiculous amount for bottled water without asking, we ordered about two pizzas and the total came out to about $500+).

We made reservations but had to wait a minute or two for them to clear the table, the waiter at that point was agitated but not unfriendly. Neither of us wanted to order a set lunch (we were hungry!), so we decided upon soups, a salad, a pasta and a pizza.

For the soup we both ordered the Mixed Mushroom Soup (野菌湯). I was very impressed by the quality. It had a rich aromatic taste, with plenty of mixed mushrooms and the truffle oil giving it a little kick. The portion was quite generous, and it definitely whetted my appetite for what was to come.

For the salad we shared a Nostrana (牛油果雞肉沙拉) that contained chicken breast, avocado, potatoes, green peppers, boiled egg and mixed greens tossed with their "signature dressing". It wasn't anything special. The dressing reminded me of a sweet ranch dressing with extra mayonnaise. The greens, peppers and avocado were not that fresh. But the chicken was cooked fairly well, it wasn't dry (as it is in most salads) and fairly tender.

For our mains, my sister ordered Penne al Salmone (煙三文魚長通粉) - smoked salmon and asparagus with penne on a creamy garlic and leak sauce. I ordered the Roman (thin crust) Rucula e Prosciutto (義大利生菜火腿薄餅) - parma ham with rocket leaves over garlic, olives and grated cheese. The pasta had a great taste, despite being a little thrifty with the salmon. My problem with penne is that it doesn't seem to bring out the taste of the sauces all the well, and it was a little overcooked. My pizza was fantastic. The crust was thin and well made, and while neither the prosciutto nor the salmon was of superior quality, the taste of the garlic, olives and cheese complemented them to a T. I was planning on having half and saving the rest for later, but my sister and I ended up polishing off both dishes, and feeling guilty afterward! smile

By the end of it, we were too stuffed to have dessert. The bill came out to about $500 again (we had drinks), but this time I was very satisfied with the journey. It's not the cheapest lunch out in Tai Koo, but the food was definitely decent. Drop by if you're jonesing for some not-so-traditional Italian!

After getting sick of days and days of traditional chinese new year's cuisine, we decided to dine at Pizza Express, Tai Koo Shing - a decision that we eventually agreed was an excellent one.

We decided to go back to basics, since the most basic dishes are often the most difficult to master.

    - We had a soup of the day (red pepper soup).
    - Benevento salad
    - Lazio pizza
    - Penne el Pommodore e Mozarella

Our family lives overseas and only returns to Hong Kong once every year. We find that there are very few good western cuisine restaurants in Hong Kong, which are all often very pricey. But I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food at Pizza Express. I've tried Pizza Express at Star Street also but it was not very memorable, but the one at Tai Koo Shing is a completely different story.

To begin with with the Benevento Salad - it was excellent. It was accompanied by six of Pizza Express' baked dough balls, which were a DELIGHT in both taste and texture, and accompanied the salad perfectly (as did the fresh mozarella cheese). The mixed salad was very fresh, as were the tomatoes and mushrooms, which were also aptly warm. The avocado was creamy, ripe and delicious and the sauce was just perfect for the salad. Very well done.

The Lazio pizza was also great - pancetta ham, rocket leaves, grana padano cheese and egg (hard/soft - wechose the latter). The pizza was great down to every detail, from the fragrant hint of olive oil to the cheese which was not heavy and complemented the other ingredients well. We choose a soft egg and it was great - the egg white was so smooth and 'eggful' in taste, the egg yolk was also rich and tasteful. We chose a regular thin crust, which was perfect and overall the pizza was just right - not too dry, not too moist.

I was very happy with the pasta - it was a simple mozarella and basil penne. The pasta was cooked perfectly, it was quite 彈牙 and not awfully soft and textureless like some restaurant's pasta. The mozarella was of an excellent quality, and it had a great fragant hint of olive oil and basil - it was perfect in every way.

But not only the food deserves mention - the environment was also a wonderful one. There are very few ground-level restaurants in Hong Kong that enjoy a wide and unmarred view. The Pizza Express, Tai Koo Shing is neatly tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong city life (at least at night time, for dinner), it faces a quiet, tranquil little park - perfect.

Overall, it was an excellent, excellent hearty meal that left us very satisfied! I believe they also have special family, two-persons sets for saturday and sunday, which I looked at - very good pricing! Would whole-heartedly recommend this to anyone - the price is also reasonable, not expensive.
