I had a friend from Canada visiting and we decided to come here for dinner as she loves Korean and she was stuck all week with relatives and had Chinese of all sorts. So, I took her here. The restaurant is nicely decorated giving an almost cozy cafe feel. There were lovely pieces of decoration every where. The restaurant is nicely decorated giving an almost cozy cafe feel. There were lovely pieces of decoration every where. However, the Kpop music was so loud, my friend and I had to talk loudly to hear each other. Which was doubled by the loud speaking from the other customers. Menu was pretty with various homestyle Korean dishes and beautiful photos to let you know what you are ordering. A paper with a clipboard was given for you to order by writing down the number from the menu you wanted and given to the waitress. Free appetizers were given. A few slices of preserved daikon and kimchi. The look of the appetizers looked dismal. And tasted just as dismal as they looked. My father always said the mark of a good Korean restaurant is how good their kimchi is. If my father tasted it, he would have said to get out of this restaurant fast. The kimchi was just spicy with no sour bite to it. It was pretty horrible. We ordered four dishes.
Topokki with ramen was something my friend wanted as she loves this dish. I, honestly, never had it before. It was good. A bit spicey with a tomato based sauce. Topokki was soft and chewy. Ramen was chewy. There were a few slices of fish cakes which were tasty. Potato starch noodles with beef and vegetables were pretty bad. It was overly salty and oily. Beef was tough. Seafood pancake was not crispy. There was a lot of seafood in it but it was a bit underdone and not crispy so it all fell apart. Sauce was good. A bit spicey but not too much. Vegetable dumplings were a big disappointment. They tasted like the ones I usually buy frozen at the grocery store. Made me wonder if they are the same bag I buy. Skin was thick and tough. Meat filling was a very small portion. Sauce same as the pancake. Disappointing for the look of the restaurant seems beautiful. Too bad the food was not great. Won't return.
