LANDMARK has been doing heavy brand building lately with special emphasis on its restaurants (4 restaurants, 9 Michelin stars). CAFE LANDMARK, though not Michelin-starred, it's a signature at the mall and, perhaps, in Hong Kong (with a history of decades). Noticing that it was closed for a few months earlier on, it has now reopened with a lovely revamp. Like always, people are lining up for it, any time of the day.The interior has gotten a refreshing makeover from the previous monotone B/W/Grey.
The interior has gotten a refreshing makeover from the previous monotone B/W/Grey. Colorful leather furnitures, bouquets, burl woods, copper metals; it's more feminine and an interplay between urban city life and nature. Today was girls-afternoon-out. The server told us about their new cake series AND as a tea set with 1 cake + coffee/tea, it was only $88 +10%. Each cake is actually bigger than my fist! As girls, you could see that we had ordered "just a little bit".
Pistachio Cake: the piece that had the most love. It has both the look and taste. Ruffles, gold leaves, natural color; taste of real pistachio, almond and white chocolate. Moist. Takeaway is not recommended because it could melt and get mushed in the box. Rouge Box: raspberry and dark chocolate. "Modern geometric" design. Yum for bitter chocolate lovers (me). Chocolate mousse for the top box, dense choco cake for the bottom. I personally would like MORE raspberry flavor, for contrast. Fresh Berry Sable: the tart taste of the berries give a nice balance to the crummy shortbread/cake on the inside. A suitable choice for Summer and if you're not into mousse or too much cream. Side note: it's thoughtful of them to provide a little stool for bags. Ladies, no more worries for your "babies" (LV, Gucci or what have you).
Other Info. :
Cakes are overall not too sweet. Suitable for Asian palettes.
