First time having a buffet at the Mandarin Hotel!I've always heard about the good reviews from the clipper lounge buffet and I was fortunate enough to go there for free from a voucher given by a friendBuffet starts at 12:00 alread the place was fully packed. The resturant was not very spacious but the furniture was all very luxurious and nicely decorated. We also treated ourselves with a nice sea view. The food stations were not as large as I expected it to be, with a limited variety of choices.

The food stations were not as large as I expected it to be, with a limited variety of choices. The seafood bar served an array of different seafood... nothing special to mention about.
I really liked how they used a dry ice dispensor thing to keep the temperature cold and also makes the food look very appealing. One of my favourite dishes from the whole buffet was the Seared salmon nigiri(the second sushi from the right of the photo)...the salmon is fatty and thickly sliced. It is also seared perfectly and served still slightly warm! Literally melted in my mouth Second round: Cooked dishes
Nothing to special either. The fish in white sauce was a bit too soft and the other meats are also average. However, the roast beef, char siu and the crispy roast duck is worth a mention Now for dessert... The dessert bar was really nicely presented, accompanied by the ice cream bar where they serve their self made icecream with selfmade chocolate waffle cones Creme Brulee: They nailed it! it was full of sweet egg flavor and the sugar crust was crispy and delicate.
Pistachio Biscotti: Not crispy enough but I liked the pistachios.
Cream Horn : Flaky puff pastry with vanilla pastry cream
Chocolate Brownie:LOVED IT! moist and goey in the inside and crusty on the outside almost like a lava cake.
Lemon Meringue Pie: Wayyyyy too sour...
Mango Mousse: Nothing special. but they added a nice crunch to it.
Mini apple crumble: Very nice... crumbly, flavorful and best served with some hot vanilla sauce
Mixed berry tart: Fresh berries were nice.
Sugared nuts: Don't know if it was store bought or made. But i'm a fan of any nuts! Panna cotta: Amazingly vanilla-y. You could even pick out the fresh vanilla seeds! VERY SMOOTH.... and it has a nice toffee sauce in the bottom. Raspberry Mousse cake: average
Chocolate truffles: A bit too much alchohol in the inside blueberry cheesecake: Didn't enjoy this one. It was the 'set' kind of cheescake rather than the baked kind. Very dense and heavy. Ice cream cone: Very good! the texture was smooth just like you would expect from homemade ice cream... very impressive
