The food was very good, the service was excellent, particularly from sommelier Andrés Torres and the sun was shining, which meant the outdoor patio was a good idea.
Between four of us we ordered almost the entire brunch menu. The tortillas were all good, particularly the chorizo, the garlic shrimps and barbecue mussels were also very good. The Vichyssoise was a slight disappointment; it tasted under seasoned.
The main courses were excellent. The slow-cooked ribs and the beef tenderloin were both accompanied by potatoes that had been purposely over mashed, giving them the texture of melted cheese. There was a slightly sweet taste to it which I didn't like. The black cod with a ratatouille of vegetables was so good that I would have happily swopped my beef tenderloin for it.
The Catalan-style paella was a very thin layer of rice cooked until it began to crisp up. This was served with a sliced scallop. The complimentary pan con tomate was great.
The cheesecake with passion fruit and yellow bell pepper sauce was ordered by three out of four of our group and was soft and delicious.
The free-flow Cava and the free-flow ham topped off a great meal.
I would come back and pay full price, particularly when you consider how many drinks you get in SoHo and other trendy places for $388.
