Inakaya . Teppanyaki time ! Since there are too many selections in their menu , I get confused again . The main dining room serves a more refined menu , both a la carte and sets are provided at night . Quite a comprehensive choice with different Japanese cooking style . At last , with the staff recommendation, we decided to pick the teppanyaki set for 2 , added a sushi platter and assorted sashimi as well . But at the end I think it's a bit too much since we underestimate the portion of the set

Anyway , way back to the dishes . Welcome dish is a nice mixture . The one in a blue small bowl is spinach , mix with fish roe and sake , definitely a big refreshment . The one on left in a black platter is some kind of mushroom that I think it tastes a bit wired . ( As I am a mushroom lover , i think it is due to the marination) The one on right hand side is boil plain spiral shell, It is fresh but tasteless . Overall is about average , but at least with an authentic Japanese sense .

The sashimi platter is a deluxe one , served with five kinds of sea marines ( hokkaido scallop, sea urchin , peony prawn , toro and rosy sea bass) All fresh flesh cut to a thickness that had great texture especially the toro , what a melty temptation. I especially enjoyed the scallops, it is gigantic, plump texture with a succulent content . The touch of lime really helped bring out its nature and freshness . Peony prawn is fabulously big too . Very favorable with a firm and springy texture . What deserve more mention is their uni . The uni portion was much bigger than normal size , a pile of uni given out generously to form a small mountain . We even lose count of how many buttery specimens we slip down . Uni in a golden coat with a briny hint . A richly umami served with seaweed and cucumber . Sea urchin delighted us with its soft creamy texture and delicate savor, nicely contrasted against the crunch of the cucumber slices and crispy seaweed . Blend harmoniously in your mouth. It would be impeccable just if they can provided more seaweed . Overall is a delicacy , satisfying to the bite. Everything is well proportion with a decent array to form such colorful and delicate presentation . The garnishment amd hand - ground wasabi dazzle the outlook to be more graceful and exquisite .

Sushi platter served in 8 types ( snapper , toro , rosy sea bass , peony prawn , scallop, sea urchin, horse mackerel and yellowtail ) All are fresh and tasty in a high end quality , looks fabulous too . Somehow , I think the rice is just not in the right size , it a bit big compare to the original one . In japan , having sushi should be in one mouthful. On the other hand , it is not glutinous enough that can't creature a plump rice texture . Subtly vinegar grains should packed well , so it keeps its shape when picked up, but falls apart delicately when consumed. Unfortunately , this doesn't happen . Just to tell you more about it . Sushi rice should be using medium grains , seasoned with a specific dressing of rice vinegar, sugar and salt so it enhances its stickiness and the sushi rice was properly cooled when it start to produce .I think the fatal point is the sushi rice , as a comparison , this is just about average. No offense ,I am not here to judge the masterpiece . Everyone got it own favor and style .

This is small size sashimi which included in the set . Still love very decent in a grand blue platter . Provide 3 kinds of fish , white snapper ,tuna and one of my new favorite - " Rosy Seabass ". I think is not as heavy filling as toro but this fish really made me move . Meaty flesh under the belly , the fish grease were just spread out perfectly while it grilled in a perfect timing . The content is firm and plump , very aromatic and delicious after the searing . It is a very arousing fresh flesh , certainly satisfy your max without the need for additional soy sauce or condiments.

The set was very decent with details . For the main course , come up with Goose liver ( Inakaya style indicate Japanese don't name its as Foie Gras ) , Australian lobster and A5 Japanese Black Wagyu Beef Sirloin with seasonal vegetables . All dishes are just so delicious . Goose liver was roasted in a perfect texture . Extremely thick and fleshy with honey fruit sauce , rather match compare to plum sauce . It makes the favor more genuine and extraordinary . Tastes luscious and dense but not over greasy . The cookery is just excellent to create a flaky layer ,but yet maintain a soft juicy content . It 's very arousing that moves me and when the goose liver goes with the assorted berries , it is surprisingly refreshing!Can't explain in words !

For the lobster , no doubt is the highlight of the meal . The chef has already seize the meat out , hence you can enjoy such savories easily , I appreciate such caring effort . The portion is surprisingly big that out of my expectation , I even get shocked when it served. Lobster itself is gigantic , tastes magnificent with basil and pesto sauce . From my point of view , I prefer Australian species than Boston one . Even thought the flesh may not be that firm, instead , its seared and grilled cookery successfully maintain a succulent content with dense lobster natural hint . It goes marvelous with the pesto sauce , add a hint of aroma to overall mouthfuls , smells heavenly too ! Fish roe on side , not only a decoration, but also urge the dish to be more palatable . The fresh meaty content were also seared with garlic and pepper to complex the flavors , even enhance a subtle feelings . The overall mouths are excellent ! This is highly recommended .

For the A5 sirloin , needless to say , glamorous and sleek . The warm of your tongue melts the fat effortlessly , while leaving a rich, buttery flavor lingering on the palate. Beautifully marbled revealed it quality . The tappanyaki cooking style keep it greasy content with a soft touch . Texture is unexpectedly weightless, tastes incredible under sightly flavors and seasoned. Pepper and salt create a complex profile than we expected . Its high end quality definitely stands it ground . However , from my own perception, it may be too heavy for gals , such greasy fatty delicacy is extremely filling after a few mouthfuls , 2-3 pieces are enough for girls . Anyway , such impressive temptation is still worth trying .

Okay , here comes the side dishes like pickles ,miso soup and fried rice with Sichuan pepper Ice Fish . To be frank, my tummy was actually stuffed after having the Wagyu beef . I have no idea how can I still finished all of it ! The rice exactly is my cup of tea . It deserves more praises as they add ice fishes to enhance the layer , very tasty with a light sprinkle of salt and pepper for flavors , you won't feel overwhelming at all . A bowl of rice turns to something that is extraordinary with such excellent tastes . Rice is fried into a dry texture to create a distinctive rice mouthfuls . It is just perfect with simple ingredient. Pickles are about average , nothing special to mention . Miso soup tastes much more light than normal one , not that kind in a strong hint , stomach -warming.

Assorted vegetables and salad stand out from the crowd . It still got its own competent which tastes very delicious . Mushroom , asparagus and sweet potato with sesame sauce is a nice combination , not too salty or oily . Mushroom is plump and chewy. Asparagus is a fresh crunch . Sweet potato with a extra soft content , served with heaped dollops of melting butter, very amusing . Vegetables are generally fresh and sweet under fragrant . The salad is a showcase of simplicity , wide selections of vegetables are fresh , stirred well with a moderate dressing .

Desserts are also full of surprise , sweets treats definitely fulfilled us and end up out meal in a pleasant way . They provide Japanese mask melon which is very typical , mask melon content is extremely sweet , contain a juicy soft content . Green tea ice cream is a spoonful satisfaction . Ice cream in a rich flavor , permeated with dense green tea paste in a silkily smooth texture . Overall mouthfuls are quite enjoyable , it melts swiftly on your tongue while leaving a mellow note .

All dishes contain the highest quality and freshest ingredients possible. The cuisine and atmosphere at Inakaya capture the spirit of Japan with every sumptuous dish. But the pet peeve is they served dishes too fast that I am quite disappointed . Since it is a really high class restaurant , I don't expect such incident to happen , they seems pushing me to leave . What I expected is to have a very pleasant dinner in a slow mood as the view is superb and breathe taking . Their waiters and staffs are seems too rush that even can't follow the food presentation method and ruin up the routine . It would be impeccable if their service is not that erratic or irritable.

Inakaya sits high above Hong Kong on the 101st floor in ICC . The lobby boasts an autumn harvest scene, exuding warmth and comfort. Diners make a good entrance through a passageway thronged by sake caskets on the right and a sake fridge on the left . Window side seats that reflects a spectacular view. The main dining area features a raised platform and movable screens, further elevating the authentic Japanese ambience . Overall ambience is classically elegant , simplistic yet modern . Somehow, I think the dim lightening is over dark, but not a big deal. Under such superlative dining experience , I am looking forward to try the Robatayaki next time , enjoy a noisy demonstration that sees chefs pounding out rice cake on the spot ! Seems very typical under a rowdy carnival feel , rare in Hong Kong , right ?
