When we walked in at 10:00 there were plenty of tables available and even plenty of tables at the windows. Unless all reservations were called off it seems like everything that was told over the phone was just to keep me out of the restaurant.

Menu's were put on the tables without any recommendations or introduction which would seem fit. Struggled a bit with the menu as many dishes looked relative similar on the menu.
Eventually ordered signature dish "wu nan" cod with crispy fermented beans and chili, a "ma la" style chicken dishand some stirfried lotus root. All was served quite fast.

Taste/structure of the "ma la chicken was ok. Not special and deserves a mediocre at best. The portion was very big and if you need to share it as a dish with two persons it may be a little bit too big and you'll discover yourself chewing away on chicken for the majority of the dinner.

We chewed away so much chicken because the cod was tasteless. The chili mentioned in the menu description was not really present in the dish.

Stirfriend lotus root was boring and nothing special. Matching the quality of an ok restaurant in any given Chinatown.

We were quite hungry but could only finish 50%. As you could tell by the amount of food leftover, a trained waiter or manager should ask if something is wrong with the food instead of telling us that the kitchen was about to close and this was last order.

The sugar cane juice was nice with an actual whole piece of ginseng root (for 68 HK$... too cheap to be genuine and maybe reused?)

The rice they forgot to bring as well. After I had to chase it, it arrived luke warm on the table.

Conclusion: Overpriced and underdelivered. The view that could made up for this inbalance was ruined by rain and fog so the naked truth is that Hutong is way below average. Wasted 1 opportunity to have a good meal during my short trip.
