I've been wanting to try Lupa ever since it opened because I love Mario Batali's Babbo in NYC. I've been wanting to try Lupa ever since it opened because I love Mario Batali's Babbo in NYC. I was looking forward to trying his pastas again, so when I saw that Lupa was one of the participating restaurants for Restaurant Week, I made a booking right away.

I came here on a Thursday night and we were seated right away in the main dining room. The dining room is pretty big and spacious, and the lighting and decor was dark and dim. It wasn't that full either. They also have a terrence for outdoor dining but it's too hot nowadays for that.

For our food, we just ordered one of each on their Restaurant Week menu for the antipasta, main course, and dessert to share so we can try everything. For the main, we chose the pasta and fish. Here are my thoughts on the dishes we tried:

Homemade cured salmon with citrus, sour cream and chives - the salmon was just okay and the crispy cracker it was served on didn't do anything for it either
Zucchini cake with creamy cow's milk cheese and cherry tomatoes confit - the cake was dry and tasted like it wasn't cooked thoroughly (a bit powdery probably due to the texture of the cheese); taste wasn't good either
Homemade fresh pasta filled with amatriciana sauce - Mario Batali is known for his pastas and this did not disappoint. As you pop one of the ravioli in your mouth, the amatriciana sauce fills your mouth with delight. The sauce is light yet flavorful which made it hard to stop until you finish the entire dish.
Salted codfish slow cooked in tomato sauce with olives, capers and oregano - surprisingly good. The fish was infused with flavor and the olives went well with the fish.
Butterscotch custard, whipped cream salted cashews - the custard was a bit thick and sweet; I prefer my desserts to be lighter and refreshing
Hazelnut gelato, glazed cherry - the gelato was good but far too small in portions as it was also served with a cake

Conclusion - seems like the dishes here are hit or miss. I would come here again to try their pasta and pizza.
