中高檔天婦羅和食店。刺身一般, 天丼質素中上;份量驚人, 比其他套餐抵吃。環境寧靜舒適, 位置寬敞;適合親子。如在附近, 可以一試。Classy, comfy and spacious decor;Kids friendly. Good service.Tempura special set was not value for money butTempura don: Very substantial portion. Average quality but good place to relax.Might be worth a try. Agehan: The dinner menu of this place looked "intimidating" so we decided to try this over lunchtime. We managed to get a table for even without making reservations. It was near the end of the shop which was nice and quiet.

Very nice decor and large panel windows. Good use of partition. Warm lighting matched with soft carpet. Very comfortable indeed. I almost felt like I was having lunch inside a gallery!

This place seems to be focused on tempura don sets.

We ordered a "Special Tempura Set" (HK$350) and a "Tendon (Matsu)" (the medium level one - HK$160).

As you could see from the photo, it consists of assorted tempura and a small plate of sashimi.

The batter for all the tempuras were relatively crunchy but nothing exceptional. Not as good as Ana Gura or The Yuu for example. The four kuruma ebi lacks umami. I think even those at Imasuke were better.

The kisu also had a similar problem. Not as fresh as I had expect it to be.
Shishito and pumpkin were a bit oily.

The sauce for the tempura was also fairly bland. I'm surprised at the fact that Agehan, purporting to be a tempura specialist, did not provide any salt.

The salmon was fine but the quality of the maguro and thick cut hamachi was below average.

Normal yellow miso soup with average quality rice.

Not quite worth HK$350.

This Matsu tendon was far better than the Special tempura set.

The size was pretty substantial. Enough to feed two persons if you're not too hungry. It had essentially the same toppings as my special tempura set, i.e. 4 kuruma ebi, kisu, shishito and pumpkins.

It already had shoyu added onto tempura and rice. The soy sauce was much stronger than those used for my set. Pretty good with the tempura. The batter of these tempura were thicker and crispier than those for the special tempura set. I prefer these.

Unfortunately, the quality of rice was quite average though. I doubt they use Japanese pearl rice.

Anyway, it's acceptable for HK$160 considering the location and acceptable quality.

Conclusion:

Total bill: $671 (including two Sapporo counter beer for my hangover the previous night).

Child friendly: One thing which might be more important than the quality of the food is that all the waitresses seemed to be well trained in how to handle small kids. There were many when we went. Chairs of different sizes were available. The place was spacious enough to keep prams out of the way.

All in all, very comfortable setting. The tendon was decent.

I wouldn't rule out another visit here for a relaxed lunch.
