We have tried to eat here several times over the past couple of years but were never able to book a table for when we wanted. This year we tried to reserve a table for our wedding anniversary dinner 3 weeks in advance - same story. Not to be deterred, we asked when the next table for 2 was available and were told about week later – FINALLY! – and we took it.

Ambiance: Very rustic and cozy, but the tables are large and spread out. I walk by the Peninsula almost every day and am always amazed how they pack so many restaurants, shops and hotel facilities into such a relatively small building. Everything seems so spacious inside.

Service: Extremely friendly and efficient!

Food: (Note - We stayed away from the cheese dishes since we might be going to a fondue/raclette party in a few days) I knew we were in for some good eating as soon as the bread basket arrived! The wife had beef consommé to start and the pike/perch fish dish for her main course.
I had the sausage salad appetizer and the beef ribs with a side of spaetzle.
Everything was perfectly cooked, and I really enjoyed the earthiness of the spaetzle as I used it to mop up the extra sauce that came with my ribs. Such a simple dish, yet so delicious!
For dessert we shared a chocolate mousse that was not too sweet. Some chocolates also were served with the wife’s tea.

Bottom Line: Worth the wait! I highly recommend this place for a cozy, romantic dinner when you are in the mood for this type of food. There is a reason this place has received so many smiley faces and just a few frowns (173 vs. 4). Just remember to book early.
