This is one of the most famous egg waffle places in Hong Kong. The Wan Chai shop isn't its headquarters as shown on the shop's name and, as it has several shops around Hong Kong, it used to give me an impression that it's one of those chain shops that it doesn't sell egg waffles of a good value.
I came after school for a treat for myself after a stressful busy week. The location of the shop is pretty easy to find and convenient as it's near to the mtr station and bus stops. Previous reviews said that queuing is required for purchasing egg waffles at this shop, but when I arrived there, they isn't a queue at all. I went up and bought an egg waffle then. Frankly, I thought it was pretty expensive at first as one egg waffle costs $15. The price is high even for its gimmick and status in Hong Kong.
I didn't have to wait for long for the egg waffle. Soon enough, I was holding a hot, freshly made egg waffle in my hands. My first reaction was that the serving size is actually relatively bigger than many other stalls. Then after some bites, I can conclude that the egg waffle has a great texture, where its outside was crunchy but the inside was so warm and fluffy. It was not like some other stalls that it's only crunchy on the outside yet it's empty inside. For its big serving size and great texture, $15 doesn't sound very unreasonable then. However, I think the egg waffle kind of lacked a bit of the egg flavor and aroma as to me it was a bit too mild. I think a stronger flavor and aroma would be more tempting and hence more outstanding, given that it has a terrific texture as well.
The shop has proved me wrong about being a chain store with low quality. I may not be utterly impressed with the egg waffles here but at least I think it's good enough to get onto my list of shops that sell pretty nice snack.
