2009-10-24 Sunny & Warm

Heard about Lawry for some time but did not play a visit so far since I am not keen on roast beef. In order to have surprise, I did not check for Lawry's history before the visit. It is always interesting to know a success secret by experience rather than reading.

Stepping in the restaurant, we started to have those old days feel. It says it is 30s.
They prove themselves to be a long history restaurant by posting up lots of pictures on corridor walls. We were leaded to sit in a "study room"!shocked Our table was just next to a huge book shelf, in fact, the whole small room was surrounded by book shelfs. Those book were real (got words inside) but same type though so they were able to be placed in the shelf very neat and tidy. Shortly after we were seated, a waitress dressed in 30's maid uniform come to serve us with delighted smile on her face most of the time. We later found that she comes from Nepal.

Let me take a break here, I understood now what Lawry offers to guests is the dinning experience. I got a feeling that "a show is coming soon".

Yes, I considered the way the waitress serve you the spinning salad. And the way the chef pull the big silver carvery cart to your table and carved you the delicous roast beef were "shows". This service stimulates not just your appertize but your happy signal.

Certainly, Lawry would not be successful without high quality of food.

These were what we ordered:
smileLobster soup - rich & delicious. Lobster soup is actually not difficult to cook well as long as the restaurant use sufficient lobster shell and meat. So, there is no surprise but up to standard.

tongueStuffed crab meat with shell - good with lots of crab meat, delicious!

smileSpinning bowl salad - the sauce is home made, not oily, healthy & taste good

smileRoast Beef - served with plenty of sauce lol Yummy!!
The portion was quite a lot for us even with English cut. There were 4 big thin slices came with mesh potato and yorkshire pudding. I did not know what yorkshire pudding was as it sound like some kind of dessert to me. But it was actually soft bread cooked and served by a iron pan.

Seasonal salt & pepper - famous and home made. However, we did not tell a big difference, sorry!!

In short, a wonderful dinning experience. Worth to try at least once. smile

*need to mention that we have 50% discount by using AE Platinum Card, so, it is definitely a good deal. We also given excess tips to the waitress as the service is really good.
