Have been here at least 5 times last year and all experiences as I remember were good. First visit of 2009 was last night, a Thursday night and it was packed at 7.20PM. Still managed to squeeze into a table for 2 in the quite spacious dining area that overtakes the whole floor.

Was served 6 banchans for two - the best was the special kimchi that had sesame oil in the marinade - it was sweeter and less sour than the normal napa cabbage kimchi. The spinach namul was also very promising - the leaves were delicate, I believe they used baby spinach, not the usual species.

They offer seasonal items - I ordered the seafood with rice cakes stew ($108) which was quite hearty - an assortment of calamari, shrimps, venus clams, mussels and crab legs were stewed in a very thick sauce with ddeokbokee (tube shaped) rice cakes - my favorite of the other shapes. It is very nicely cooked, offering an unusual softness with chewy bites. The amount of corn syrup used was just right, resulting in a sweet and fiery (from the gochu flakes) sauce. The seafood are all very fresh as well.

Marinated beef slices with onions and mushrooms
($115) came in a small serving plate that looked a bit measely, but in fact is sufficient for 1-2 persons. The beef is remains very nicely tender even after grilling for a long time, and on the grill plate a sweetened soy sauce is used for grilling the meats and vegetables, resulting in a very pleasant, authentically Korean savory-yet-sweet flavor. Awesome!


Environment is comfortable, tables and booths are spacious enough and can accommodate bigger parties but the lack of staff has long been a problem. While servers are generally friendly, there is clearly a communication problem with quite a few.

Special Korean groceries like vegetables from Korea, ginseng, wines etc. are sold here. Also, they serve desserts - not so common in Hong Kong Korean restaurants, from my experience. I recommend their bingsoo - slush with red beans ($60) which is a generous portion of sweetened shaved ice, jellies, fruits and of course red beans - a refreshing and fun treat.

A very good Korean meal indeed - and prices are reasonable, in comparison with other Korean restaurants, given this prime location. Need to visit again very soon.
