薑汁撞奶 Smile Apr 10, 2009

Had a hiking from Tai Mo Shan along the Cap Lung Forest trail. The weather was very good. We walked downhill and there was plenty of tree cover. very comfortable. the bonus of the trip a bowl of 薑汁撞奶!

We were very surprised that there were so many people. The kids were taking photos for the "so so" black lamb. They were actually quite ungry compared with the cutie sheep!

There was a long queue in the store. We bought two 薑汁撞奶. good flavour of ginger. Not too sweet. just like drinking milk.

It is not recommended to sit outside. two little insects fell onto my milk milk.

First off, I was very happy to now that there's farm in the area, very nice.
Actually, I have nothing to complain about but ONE thing : milk price.
Why is it so expensive ? 25$/litre. This milk is local, so no transport fees compared to New Zealand or Australian delivered through supermarkets by boats. The average price in supermarkets is 20$/L, and as I said, it is imported milk. Logically speaking, local farm milk should be cheaper than imported milks.
So, I've picked up the phone and asked the clerk about the price matter : Answer and argument : This is fresh milk ! So just because it is fresh it has to be expensive ? It is not even organic guaranteed !
This kind of pricing makes common things, deluxe ones.
For those who want to use City'super prices as argument, it's irrelevant, they're thieves.
Back in the UK average price of fresh mik is 12HKD/L, I can't imagine asking people to 25HKD a bottle just for fresh milk.
Otherwise, the farm is nice, in a nice environment, clean etc... positive, just a shame I can't afford their milk.
