I saw this 'cake' a while ago but never got the chance to try it because I rarely go to kowloon city or wanchai. So when I passed by, I couldn't help but go in and get one lol
The Ruby Diamond looks amazing and very realistic, definitely popular amongst girls. The outer layer of the diamond is chocolate covered with a thin layer of sparkle. The sparkle comes off easily, making the cake very delicate. Inside the diamond is a mix of hazelnut cream and chocolate cake in layers. The hazelnut cream is a bit too sweet, but when eaten together with the almond sugar crust bottom, it evens out the sweetness.
I must mention the small caramelised hazelnut on the side. I didn't expect much but it was crunchy and very tasty. As there was only one, that probably made it that little bit more special.
I thought it was an innovative item on their menu and was worth trying.

ANGRY!

I'm a frequent customer of Tony Wong and I love their cakes. The taste is undoubtedly great and it is definitely not the reason I'm angry with this shop. I'm angry about their customer service. Here's my story:

I called a Thursday afternoon to order a 2lb strawberry cake for my cousin's one year old birthday. I had some tailor requirements so I had to custom-make the cake. When I've given almost all the instruction to the lady on the phone, the line got cut off. I tried to call them back and no one answered. I tried and tried again, for the next 36 hours. Yes, that's one day and a half. The line was either busy or unanswered. I got to the point of panic because it was already Saturday and the birthday party was in one day. I even called their Wanchai shop but that line goes straight to voice mail! I decided to make a 45 minutes drive to the shop to place the order in person. When I got to there, the shop was filled with customers like always, and when I complained that they're always unreachable on the phone, the girl merely said that they might have been too busy. Too busy to answer one phone call within one day and a half? I was really pissed off about this and I didn't think this girl knows the severity of their problem. They are ignoring customers' phone calls. If they think they have enough to do on their hand they should simply tell people they don't take phone orders. But ignoring the phone is just terrible service.

I have NEVER had to make a 45 minutes trip just to order a cake. If Mr Tony Wong is reading this, please, please do something about your customer service. Your cakes are great and they will keep the customers coming back, but don't let your staff jeopardize your otherwise perfect reputation.

Tried the very lovely Earl Grey cut cake last time! and told myself I must have it again!! So, on this day, I went to Kln City just to buy the bday cake and a few other cut cakes for dinner....

The rose cake needs advanced reservation and bank transfer for settlement. a bit not too user friendly and would be great if we can do the payment online instead....

anyhow, the cakes are as good as they used to be.

Rose cake is so lovely and costs HKD450 a pound....many said it is too expensive...

well, i would say, the cake requires fine craftsmanship. The look is perfect, the taste matches expectation.

Yet, I would say I still love the Earl Grey cut cake most. The very delicate aroma of earl grey together with layers of cream and sponge cake...makes it a perfect dessert!

the chocolate truffle is popular among the diners....

6 pcs of cake and the whole cake cost HKD690.

I bought a Pink Rose cake to celebrate my cousin's pending nuptial. The cake was beautiful and deliciouslol And I have tried desserts all over, including some of the best restaurants in Paris and New York. Still, what impressed me the most was the level of personal service offered by their chefs. Since my Chinese is not good, the attentive sales person at the counter talked to one of the chefs and he actually came out of the kitchen to talk to me about my specific request. He helped me to construct a well-thought out and unique Chinese wedding message. He was very patient and helpful. Excellent service! Thumbs up!

We had Earl grey mousse cake may be a year ago, it was terrific. They had a little Macaron on the top, tasted just great! Gave a sophisticated texture and perfect flavor for their signature cake!Well... Their new versions seem less attractive than the previous ones! But still Earl grey is the best among other choices available there....Nepoleon is ok but i prefer the one in tin hau. Blueberry cheese is kind of disappointing.
