Afternoon Tea of the day, order as follow:

chopstickBanana Tart - too agree with the comment downthere that it's no good sad the banana is a bit sour after heating and the banana paste isn't nice too. still a very big gap to compare with Zoe the banana cream tart or Awfully Choc the choco banana cake. very disappointing. the chef should really think of a way to treat this otherwise to remove it from the selection. or more and more sad face will be given.....
chopstickChocolat Hazelnut Tart: this is a good one. smile the dark choc on top is smooth. under it is the hazelnut paste, which i think smile the sweetness is just right to balance with the dark choc. i dun agree with the below that it's like nutella (well i love nutella too!), instead, smile there's tiny hazelnut pieces blended inside the paste and it gives funny texture! base of tarts (both this and the banana one) is layered: smile not too hard but is crispy! (am i just the lucky one today? coz i saw ppl said the base was too hard?) on the other hand it's greasy.

Overall
smilethe place is clean and tidy, with white tone makes ppl feel relaxed.
smilei love its layered tart's base.
smilepolite smile on face.
sadalthough the tarts are not too bad, they're a bit overpriced. i would say it doesn't worth the "Zoe price" but $2-3 lower.
bowli'll come back (but not the banana tart anyway).

Lunch of today, order as follow:

chopstickSalade Nicoise ($68) - don't remember the exact name but you will know when you get the menu. smileThe salad is nice! it has grilled salmon, tomatoes, egg, potato, onion, baby spinach and a little olive, with slightly sour sauce. I especially love the potato smilewithout cooking too softly and leaves a crispy bite. this makes the whole thing feelsmile fresh and light! smilethe portion is enough to fill up my stomach as a proper lunch.
chopstick......a Tea, but totally forget tongue

Overall,
smilethe salad is more than satisfactory!
smilethe size is big enough for me.
smilethe place is quiet and (environmentally) is good for reading and relaxing.
smilesunlight from outside makes it feel warm.
sadstaff seem don't like people to sit there just for 1 salad. felt like i was looked at after sitting there for "a while".
sadvery cold there, better get a scarf with u!
bowlyes i'll still come again for its comfortable place but hope not to be stared at anymore.

overall,
smile有料有心有心思!
smile大力支持咁有 heart 有禮o既小店!!!!!!
bowl一定會再來!! 仲係專登搭車來果隻~

Salty Food Just OK Sep 02, 2009

Categories : Chiu Chow | Hong Kong Style | Chinese Restaurant

是日晚餐, order 如下:

chopstick海蜇拼辣牛展 ($50) - it's the best dish of the night. the jellyfish is marinated by sesame oil and a little liquor, the beef with its spicy sauce matches nicely. the mix and match of the 2 kinds gives gd strong taste of the chui chow cuisine.
chopstick阿鴻鴨舌 ($25) - i think it's not as gd as mentioned. very salty.
chopstick醉香珍肝 ($40) - the chinese liquor gives its taste with the texture of kidneys and the livers. but it's too oily and a bit too salty, still not bad.
chopstick鹵水鵝片 (例牌) ($80) - goose is good, and it's expected to be good. the surprise was the tofu down there! it's very soft and smooth which i think most of the chui chow restaurant cannot maintain this while cooking/marinating! we should order the tofu alone! again this is too salty.

Overall,
sadthe dishes are all quite salty. they're suppose to go with beer that's y?
sadsmall portion.
sadthe lady (maybe she's the wife of the boss?) was very rude! in the middle of the meal, a customer shouted suddenly, guess there's sth wrong with her dish, then the lady over the counter whispered "使唔使咁誇張呀! 換俾佢啦!" with a very rude face..... why did she show a rude face?! it's their responsibility to change another one if sth's wrong! did she think she's doing good showing her mercy to the customer only?......... the most stupid thing was she say it out and i heard it.
bowlperhaps there's another choice to have chui chow food in HK island.

是日晚餐, order 如下:

chopstickassorted tuna sushi set ($320) - contents as mentioned by KC below, 3 赤身, 3 中 tora and 3 大 toro, with 6 little rolls and 1 japs fried egg. the toro is really nice! very fresh, fat enough and you can feel it melting inside your mouth cavity! egg is nicely marinated also, with just a nice touch of sweet and just right texture without too wet nor too dry. The portion is obviously it's too much for girl but just can't stop finishing them all! lovely!

chopsticksushi kaiseki ($450) - actually was thinking of 松花堂 but was sold out, we ordered this kaiseki. it includes sashimi of 3 kinds - as fresh as it can! a piece of pan fried fish - can taste its freshness still after frying and it's juicy! tempura - this one is not as gd as i expected, it's too oily and the batter outside is fried very hard (too hard than crispy)! cooked vege bowl - too salty and oily soup in the bowl, not gd! assorted sushi - all fish are nice!!!! no more words to describe it! and finally a dessert, we ordered a white peach sherbet - very strong peach with its naturally sweet, not artificial sweetener i reckon! the set itself is good but i'd prefer the Assorted Tuna Set (as above) more.... maybe just i feel like to more sushi that night than the cooked food?

chopstickgreen tea ice-cream ($30) - we were so full but just couldnt resist the temptation of the green tea ice-cream!!!! i think every lovely japs meal should end with a nice green tea dessert, and its didnt disappointed us! very strong green tea inside the green ball and its smooth enough. the taste stayed in my mouth throughout the night.... really lovely memory that it left me!

Overall,
smilefish 's fresh! esp the tuna tonight!
smilebig portion, makes it reasonable at its price.
smilestaff are fairly nice.
sadmenu with no chinese, only eng and jap..... i guess most of the ppl could read it but it just can't be more user friendly, more localized? or with eng+jap alone could show they're professional? could show they're an authentic jap restaurant? come on, this is to be proven by the food but not on the menu! i dont understand this concept sry.
sadhowever we were given a tiny "room", with 2 very noisy groups on both sides, then the whole dinner was spent with the absolute noise!
bowlgood food, we'll come again.
