Been craving sushi very often lately and decided to come here and WOW i was disappointed. Upon arrival I already noticed that there were no other customers - a sign that suggests they probably dont get rid of their sashimi stock quick enough for fresh fish to be sourced. I started hoping that they would surprise us as I was the one who suggested coming here with my mom and would get blamed if things turned out very bad.

I did not expect standard to be same as sushi ta-ke/toku seeing that the sushi set costed only 190 - but it was probably even
worse than genki sushi. (Sushi shin set lunch is around the same
price but MUCH better) . I have no idea why this place has 16 smiles on openrice!? I have stopped writing here for a while but my meal here was so horrible that I felt
the need to warn other people about it.
WASTED A MEAL EATING HORRIBLE SUSHI .

The only edible thing here was the salad with a standard japanese dressing. The Sashimi was stale and poorly cut. The tuna had so much tendon it was chewy and all the fish were tasteless and DRY! I am much happier eating at a place like senryo.

The waiter's attitude wasn't too bad but I guess he probably knew the food sucked (even the chawanmushi was bad) so didnt bother to ask how our meal went.

never again.

btw my mom had the uni rice and it was no good either with 2 tiny pieces of uni and some
unfresh ikura on top.

I always come here for the Grilled Pork Neck bun noodles because although they use pork neck marbled with almost no fat, the meat remains tender and juicy, so having one of these for lunch always leaves me feeling very healthy. I've also tried their set lunch once, and the appetizer platter exceeded my expectations by about 300%! The platter, a beef pho, AND a drink together set me back less than HKD100. lol (Although I have nothing much to say about the beef pho...)

Desserts are generally decent too! but ONE THING I WILL NEVER ORDER AGAIN = the rice paper duck roll ... I had an awesome duck roll in Hanoi in my last trip to Vietnam and came back really craving it. So since they call themselves RICE PAPER here i expected something that would provide me with at least 10% of the satisfaction I got from the duck roll in Vietnam. but NO shocked this thing was proper nasty shocked shocked
The roll was completely disproportionate (as you can see in the photo), with WAY too much cucumber and more sickeningly, too much mayonnaise. To finish off this most undesirable dish the smoked duck was bland too. mad

But I'll be back for more grilled pork bun noodles lol

yogo Just OK Apr 15, 2010

Been addicted to frozen yoghurt lately because of CRUMBS. Got bored one day and decided to try Yogo and was quite disappointed. Perhaps it is because I got accustomed to the creamy texture of the froyo at Crumbs - at Yogo the froyo is more icy and tastes somewhat diluted in comparison. One advantage Yogo has is that it serves froyo of several different flavours instead of just one (natural) like at Crumbs. So on top of their natural flavour I tried some strawberry froyo this time - was not particularly impressed though because it just tasted like diluted flavoured ice. However I liked the fact that you can have lots of different toppings and control the amount you put in.

tenzen lunch Just OK Apr 15, 2010

Tried 3 of their lunches recently - each came with the standard chawanmushi, which was of considerable standard, before the main dish.

bowl For both the sushi set and the chirashi, one general dissatisfaction I had was in the rice - it was on the dry side and missed the nice subtle vinegary aroma that I like in my sushi rice. The neta-nigiri size ratio can also be improved as the nigiri was too big. The chirashizushi too had excessive rice beneath the neta - and since the rice wasn't so good anyway I left 80% of it. The fish however was reasonably fresh, and I would say pretty good value for money. Oh yes and you get to pick your own sushis.
bowlThe 'too much rice' problem applied to the unaju as well.

i love "S" size Smile Sep 26, 2009

Being one of those people who always want to scoff the entire menu down and end up over-ordering (and wasting lots of food), I loved being able to get "S" sized portions of everything here.

Had a small portion of fried veg to start off with - this had little bits of garlic and hints of sesame oil in it and was a lot more appealling than all their other "salad" dishes in the menu. So I'd recommend this one if you want some greens to go with your meal.

Then I shared a spaghetti carbonara & lasagna with my friend - both exceeded my expectations, since most casual "Italian" restaurants in HK don't do al dente pasta these days. I normally feel sick after eating carbonara but because the portion here was so small, I felt absolutely fine. In fact, I could have had a few more bites - but this left just the right amount of tummy space for DESSERTS! Ordered a "pot of chocolate" and tiramisu. I wouldn't say that these were particularly impressive desserts but somehow they did the job of rounding the meal up just fine. Again the small portions of desserts meant feeling easy even after finishing the whole pot of whipped cream on chocolate & caramel.

Generally a good casual eat. Can probably stop by for a small bite even when I'm not hungry lol
