Perfect location and interior Just OK Jul 31, 2008

I went there with my girl friend as I have been aboard for too long.

The location was perfect for me as a date. This is because before and after dinner, we walked along the harbour side and have a nice little chat, especailly when we have dinner and walked back to the KCR station.

The interior was nice too, it does bring me the feeling when I was travelling in Italy, especially the nice greyish white wall and the pictures. When we got there, it was already 9, so we sat at a table at a corner and further away from other customers which gave more privacy for us to chat.

We have a lasagna, a risotto and a bottle of Peroni. The food was so-so, it didnt give me any excitment or special taste that I will remember. But the bread sticks were the ones that I will make a note about as I am quite a fan of that. Although I am not sure whether they have baked them themselves or bought in the ready made ones. I can say that they have got the ones in a decent quality.

I do recomment for dates, but mind that a bottle of Peroni alreay costs more that 5xHKD, so maybe not so good for just a drink.

Disappointed Cries Jul 31, 2008

Today was my 2nd time to this restaurant, and I was quite disappointed.
As my ability of reading out chinese wasn't good, so I normally use half english ( as in the name of the food) and half chinese (as the rest of the sentence) to order food in HK. I was not sure that the waiter was actually understand what I wanted to order, since he has to keep look back to the place where my finger was pointing.shocked

Finally sorted everything, then they have forgotten the drinks which then I have to wave and ask. Then, another thing that shocked me. I told the waitress that I have ordered the Iced Tea (which the name they wrote on the menu) and she asked me back as seems she wasn't sure what I meant. Come on, this is an American restaurant, or "American style" restaurant. Can't they act more towards that direction and at least know the menu in English?!

When the Iced Tea arrivied, 3rd shock "waved his hand" to me. shocked Iced tea without ice.... I was totally shocked. It's quite common in US that any cold drink should go with ice and my aunt's cold milk tea, (which came though much earlier) has ice and the Ice tea didn't!! So I have to ask for ice.. Seriously this kind of service was not acceptable for me.mad

I heard that Cova is really famous for their cakes, so I went with my friend for the tea buffet. The environment was good, the design of the restaurant was good too. However, I don't think the standard of the food worth that amount of $$.

The food was nicely layed in small white china dishes. They looked attractive to me. But once I have put them into my mouth, I was quite disappointed. As I lived in uk for 7yrs, the tarts @ Cova were one of the worst tarts I have. They were far too hard to eat when you would like to put the whole thing into your mouth for one go. Even if you want to cut them into small pieces, the hardress leds to great effort or even there's a chance to embrass yourself with the tart "flying" away.

However, the only one thing I was quite pleased, was the juice they provided. The pinapple juice was good which I can see the fibres at the bottom of glass which shows they did add some fruit in there..
