Was looking for something nice for dinner in To Kwa Wan and spotted this Shanghaiese food place. Oh yeah I miss their pan-fried pork bun, why not just get in then? At first, we picked a table at the back but the waiter told us the air conditioner was out of order so they helped us to change to a table at the front with friendly smile. $28/4 pieces Pan-fried pork bun is a signature dish here and $7 per piece in average is reasonably charged. As each pan-fried pork bun is more than scrumptious, it's so succulent with much juice inside the bun! The bun skin is thick and will go a bit harder if it was left alone for a while so better finished all when it's hotly served. I also tried the mixed noodles with sesame sauce. This one was cooked a bit differently here as the noodles were in soy sauce but usually the one I know were simply plain noodles. As the sesame sauce is quite thick, it is pretty filling. Not many people this kind of stickiness but I quite fancy the flavour and texture of that sesame sauce. Stir fried rice cake with meat floss. This one is in big portion that is more filling than a bowl of rice. It tastes good as the rice cake is so chewy but just slightly too oily. Anyway, the service here is quite good as a Chinese restaurant. Not many staff at Chinese restaurants will smile to their customers and ask before taking away your dishes but the staff here can do all and show sincere hospitality service.

Girls can be picky in choosing food as we have to. We wanna find something tasty but not too fat as there is a quota for food if you try to maintain your body shape. Simply saying, good food is what we want.

When you look at the menu, various dishes and combinations are available there that makes girls' choice phobia goes more intense. We come up with merely two --> the signature dish TUNA and Salmon! with SEA URCHIN please. Last time I came here the sea urchin was sold out that made me feel sad and luckily I can try it this time Hahaa

But there is no combination including both of tuna and salmon so we have to order it separately Tuna with mashed tuna set ($198)
Tuna is the signature dish and it's absolutely amazing!! The fat ratio is just right that did not leave too much oil in your mouth. Also, the slices of tuna are quite thick so you can feel the texture.Salmon set (~$176)
Salmon is also very fresh and the taste can still retain at your mouth. You have to eat it slow and feel each slice in your month in order not to waste it Hahaa
Yes please note the steamed egg in the set is nothing but more than you can ask for! It is magically smooth with lots of ingredients inside!Sea urchin (~$138)

What adds a perfect note to our meal is the sea urchin. As there are only two of us, we just order half of it.

At first, we still wonder if the amount will be too small as we do like to eat but when the dish came to our table, I think it's really okay!

As you can see each sea urchin are very full and huge. It's served with the seaweed and wasabi. Let's go do it in Japanese style then!

I had a meet up with my friends in order to plan our summer trip! Then I suggested to escape from the crowd and go somewhere remote. Yes the less the people, the better it would be to spend our chill Sunday!

It brought us to Kennedy Town and we were about to get into the restaurant K-town. But we were up for a walk to the seaside and found this Butcher & Baker Cafe! Both of us did not want to move a step further after peeping inside the restaurant as it looked like a fairyland and very spacious! This restaurant jumped to my top 10 restaurants in HK!

Apologies for not taking many interior photos of the restaurant as we were totally obsessed in the dining environment. Too beautiful to hold a camera! I liked the wall painting, food kiosk, coconut tree pattern, open kitchen, retro bicycle, flowers, hanging fan, cask..it made you feel like to "get high by the beach" in America!Duck meat and mushroom risotto ($165)
So I was sharing my story while my friend had a bite of the risotto first. Her facial expressions changed dramatically and said "ohh you can't believe how tasty it is!" I m like ohh really? I have to try I have to try!

Wow! I love the taste ! It tastes amazingly GREAT! We both agreed it's the best duck meat and mushroom risotto we have ever tried as the duck meat was rather savoury but it matched the mushroom well. The risotto was softly cooked. It deserves an encore! Yummy!The second dish is pepperoni pizza ($150) oh yeah the pizza was crispy and all the toppings can stick to the pizza without falling. Massive cheese is what I love! They put some red chilli on top so please be aware that it's a bit spicy. Anyway, it is also a good choice and we can enjoy different texture from the crispy pizza and soft risotto!I saw quite many parents and kids came to this restaurant and the staff would play with the kids and made some balloons for them. The staff here were quite helpful and cheerful. They were polite and took the initiative to serve. Yea wasn't it the most genuine services and best communication between the customers and the staff?

Also, The kids chased around and their laughter were filled in the restaurant. I did enjoy seeing their warm smile and this was the bonus. This restaurant provided wifi and we did some good progress in our trip planning work.

After all, we spent the perfect Sunday here and finished our trip planning with such amazing dinning experience. It made our day. Will come back for sure !

When I know Tom n' tom is going to open the branch in Hong Kong, I was like FINALLY yea can't wait to see a proper Korean cafe! It was firstly started in Shatin and now came to Tsim Sha Tsui which is very convenient to people in town.Generally it creates the vibe exactly like the tom and toms cafe in Korea. The cafe is divided into two parts, indoor and outdoor. For the indoor part, they have a small section for sofa and can tell it puts lots of wood as design element. Was a bit chilly that day so didn't go outside but should be nice.

They play Korean pop songs as the background music. Great. Most are Bigbang's songs so the VIPs can miss top when he's enlisted. The menu and the video played on wall are mostly in Korean so they can create such Korean vibe well.Basically, each food in the cafe follows with a set and of course you can simply order a-la-carter. You will see three columns of price on the menu: first one is for a-la-carte, second one is for set 1 and the third column is for set 2. Okay so what's the difference between set 1 and 2? Set 1 is with a fruit tea beverage and set 2 goes with coffee latte etc

I ordered a honey nuts toast with baked potato latte. To order a-la-carte honey nuts toast, it's $55. To top up $25, you can make it as a set and have the drink.The toast was ok but not much wow factor. It seems a bit over baked so tasted a bit dry. Maybe they did not add much honey on top at first until I asked them to do. The staff here were quite helpful and are willing to add more honey upon request. With the cream and honey, ummm just feels over sugary...Hahaa I thought Baked potato latte is purple or something like potato colour. Surprisingly, it's white. Oh wow! When I opened the lid, the baked potato latte's smell was quite strong. Smell nice! It helped me to charge much energy for Korean revision. Felt so warm in cool weather. What a comfy drink.I was trying to look around and see which cafe is silent enough for revision. Everything in this cafe is not bad but people at other tables are quite noisy. They talked so loud like in a market... too noisy for other customers to think or speak.

I don't think this would happen in Korea. The experience in Korea was rather different and people talk quietly in cafe...

With the same price, why not go for a better dining experience like Kikusan? In Central, I bet it's almost like impossible to find a restaurant that is reasonably priced and provide high quality at the same time as most part of the price goes to the rent.

Yet, in Kikusan, paying less than $100 for a meal that you can feel satisfied in Central is not a dream anymore! You will know when you see the menu as most dishes are below $100 and reasonably pricedIf you just have a look to the interior decoration, you probably will be convinced that it's a fine dining place as you can see water flow on the wall, dim light, a bar table and very spacious between each dining table!

Kikusan is an outstanding fusion place that blend the specialities of dishes from different countries such as Hong Kong, Korea, Japan and so on.


First of all, let's have some avocado tofu! Tofu doesn't have strong taste by nature so it goes well with the yuzi sauce. Adding avocado on the top of it can enrich the variety of texture as tofu is soft while the avocado is rather fresh and hard. Therefore, you can feel different kinds of taste of feel different texture in one bite !For this Layer pork cutlet with rice (HK$72), at first I was not quite understand what "layer pork cutlet" means. OK. When you have a bite, surprisingly the pork meat is very soft and clearly cut into layers!the egg at the bottom was an amazing piece! It's watery and soft that locked the taste!Beef burger steak curry with rice (HK$76)
These two huge burger steak is tender and juicy while the sauce has a bit taste of red wine which is the bonus point!Last but not least, Kikusan roll should be the signature dish of this restaurant! Only (HK$68) but you can enjoy sea urchin, salmon roe, minced fatty tuna ! Ohhh it tastes so good and fresh!! The sea urchin was melting in your mouth while the salmon roe was exploding as well! Yummy! I just love the whole dining experience from the food to the environment ! Will come back for sure !!

5 stars for the environment as each corner of the restaurant is carefully decorated. Each item, say clock, flower, curtain, mirror , telephone, post box matches the vibes harmonically and creates vintage ambience for different sessions of the restaurant.

Oh yeah the washroom is in retro style as well. You can just go have a look before you leave.

If you have a chance to go back in time, would you try to take the time machine and change your fate or simply witness your life again as a third person?The plates are really really lovely and each set of plates are with different patterns! It shows that the owner did pay effort to collect those nostalgic style tableware

Bear in mind that it has some Chinese words on the top of chopsticks which is about eating is a well-being of life. I really appreciate those details on small things which makes your meal even more satisfying Honestly speaking, before coming to this restaurant, I already did not expect too much for the food quality as most of the gimmick restaurant just shift the focus to the environment instead of food taste.

For the food here, the portion is quite small for most dishes that is not so filling so kinda feel like you have to order many dishes so as to fill the hunger which may not be a wise choice here. It would be good if they provide bigger portion and charge reasonably.

I ordered pork chop and sesame sauce noodles. Pork chop...is just pork chop and not much to add. It's slightly oily but not too bad though. No matter what, it doesn't look anything like worthy to cost about $80 for one plain pork chopFor the sesame sauce noodles, again, it's just plain sesame sauce noodles and not much to add on as it did not have any wow factors. Oh yeah I like those Taiwanese veggie anyway which mixes well with the noodles and sesame sauce Worth a go if you wanna try to feel like travel back in time and escape the reality a bit as they played some soft jazz music as well which soothes your mood while dining.

It's also fun to dress in retro way and takes some stylish picture with friends. Good way to spend a chill afternoon here

The food here is something you will miss after the meal. Absolutely amazing and no criticism for the whole meal!

4 of us called and made a reservation at this restaurant and the staff here was really nice when we arrived as they upgraded us to a VIP room. As usual, let's have a look to all dishes in one collage first!

We ordered a set for 4 people that included most of the dishes we would like to try: marinated beef short rib, boneless beef rib, prawns, chicken for Korean barbecue and Kimchi pancake, bibimbap, ginseng soup, Japchae (That's a lot!) and they gave an EXTRA prime American beef rib for FREE as a special gift for ordering a 4-persons set!For the beef session, following the order: Prime American beef rib, boneless beef rib, marinated beef rib! Yeah the free prime American beef rib tasted the best that the meat was so tender and locked the juice. Boneless beef rib was also very scrumptious that you can see the portion of fat and meat was quite balanced and melted in your mouth!!For every Korean barbecue dish, you can tell this restaurant sourced each ingredient from high quality supplier and tasted like authentic Korean food. The prawn was real and fresh and didn't taste like being over frozen. The prawn meat was well preserved with light soy sauce and the size was as big as your palm and it was weighty as well!Actually, we were almost done after trying Korean barbecue as the portion was huge. However, the hot dishes here was so tasty that would keep you eating!

Kimchi pancake was the best among all! We could not believe it was as crispy as chips and luckily it was not too spicy that Hong Kong people can handle. Trust me. Just give it a try as the skin and pancake were just about right that not too soft and not over hard.

For the japchae, ginseng soup and bibimbap, all were the best I have ever tried in Korean restaurant in Hong Kong. I like the soup base of ginseng soup specifically. It was so good that each dish was freshly cooked and still served hot. Besides, It's like magical for the way how they put the sauce and mix with the ingredients.



For the service, the staff served us and barbecued the food for us nicely with an inviting smile that made you enjoy the meal much. They took a picture for us by testing different angles and distance so they were so helpful and served wholeheartedly in order to give you the best shot!

They gave us a 10% off as we spent over $500. Actually, we did not even know this discount was available so they were sincere and honest to do so.

Thank you my friends for arranging this pre-birthday dinner celebration for me. 4 girls of us picked "Berliner German Bar and restaurant " as they knew I miss German food since my Europe trip.

For the interior design, there are a bunch of kitchen ware on the ceiling that protruded in the air and a big ceiling lamp was hanged on the other side as well. This restaurant is quite spacious and there is enough space between each table so that privacy is still okay.For the food, okay let's have a look in a glance first: as it has a promotion that the customers can enjoy buy 1 get 1 free for all main courses so it's a great time to enjoy German food at a budget priceWe ordered 6 dishes and this was sausage platter. Don't underestimate how filling it can be as it had like 4 types of sausage and like mountain size. Personally, the chicken sausage in light pink colour tastes nicer than the coarse sausage in red. Some are cheese sausage that will flow the fountain cheese once you cut it.For the smoked salmon pizza, it tastes okay but has room to improve. As the smoked salmon tastes rather plain and didn't taste fresh. The salmon couldn't really attach to the pizza base which is like the ingredients scattered around..For the grilled Spring chicken, though the unwritten fact is that most restaurants choose frozen chicken instead of fresh chicken, this dish was still good as the chicken skin is thin when it's evenly grilled and the meat was tender. It tasted nice to go with the BBQ sauce.Honestly, we were like 80% full when the port knuckle came to our table. It wasn't perfectly presented but the taste was still good. It wasn't too savoury and the pork knuckle was still crispy. Every bite was full of meat in mouth Hahaa People said human beings have two stomachs as one for main course and one for dessert.
The restaurant side informed us that if we wanted to cut the cake in the store, we should order two desserts on menu so that's why we selected one apple crumble and one Black Forest dessert.

For the Apple crumble, it has a scoop of ice-cream on top and a layer of cranberries as base. From the above of crunchy layer, it was still nice and mixed well but the berry layer was a bit too sour...that covered the taste of crunch and vanilla ice creamFor the Black Forest dessert, it did surprise me as usually I m not a fan of chocolate but this one was still amazing. Maybe it wasn't that rich in chocolate but more like kitkat or chestnut.

What surprised me is the grape jelly and pop rocks inside that added much fun when you ate this. It's like sweets in different textures all went in one glass pot.The service was also good. They wouldn't hesitate when you waved at them and was always be there when you were in need. The waiter was so friendly that they would smile at you when they took pictures for you.

We all felt so full and what a satisfying meal for pre-birthday celebration. Thank you so much.

Usually, people may have a conservative image towards yum cha place like the food is greasy, the Chinese restaurant is old, waiters talk so loud and rude, only grannies head there in the morning ..

This little place in To Kwa Wan totally changed the usual image but turned it into a modern dining place, high quality food with new menu, hospitable service! Most importantly, most of the dishes cost around $20 or less so paying $50 is good enough for a full meal.If a caption is missed, people may think it's a karaoke lounge, spa or any nice eatery. The customers can grab the dim sum together with watching TV at HD resolution so it's not bad.For the menu, we can see that some menus are in new pairing such as sweet potatoes for the fries, needle mushrooms in beef spring roll, crispy oat with fried banana... Yea all look quite new and nice trying as the ingredients make the dish less oily to cater modern healthy lifestyle.Pork neck meat in Tai O shrimp paste steamed rice $36

It's rarely seen shrimp paste goes with pork neck meat as usually the latter pairs with soy sauce or simply baked instead of steamed. The shrimp paste still matches okay with it to make it taste a bit savoury. A nice try! The rice portion is huge that is so filling for a girl.Assorted abalone steamed rice $45

Only one abalone in the so-called assorted abalone steamed rice but other ingredients are as usual in a common steamed rice. But the good point is that the rice is steamed in a bamboo case so it retains the aura. Also, as you can see they use something like Japanese rice that is softer and at good quality.Radish spring roll with Bonito flake $24

A must for order please ! They used a rather sweet radish and it goes very very well with the bonito flake as you can try different texture and flavour in one bite. Also, the original radish has been put in the stuffing to make it more chewy. The Spring roll is quite thin that will not affect the taste of the stuffing.Some extra menus for morning and afternoon tea session. As you can see, it's just $35 that they will not rip you off and the food is freshly made once you make an order but not readily made like chain store.

I definitely come back to try other food again!

I read an interview of the chefs in this restaurant which is about them pursuing their dream as they worked for a 5-star hotel as a chef before and wanted to start their own business

It stated that some renown shopping malls have invited them to start the business there but they still chose To Kwa Wan for the sake of interaction with customers in this old district.

The article has also mentioned that they marked at a lower price but remained to use fresh ingredients from the origin. Burger lunch set:

The burger is huge and each ingredient of it is well-cooked. The hamburger bun is baked nicely with butter paste. What's more, the patty is the soul of the hamburger as the patty is very juicy and thick. Also, it is quite tender but not powdery at all.

For the fries, it is savoury and thick like the finger food we eat at bar restaurant. Anyway, the looking of the whole dish is also quite pleasant.Pizza lunch set:

oh I like mushroom very very much plus the flavour of wild rocket. The toppings won't fall when you pick it whereas the top quality tomato paste also matches well.Here comes to the dessert:

Napoleon - I witnessed the chef make it from the scratch so it's freshly baked. It is very crispy and the sweet thick paste also goes well with it.As every lunch set comes with soup and drink, I recommend you to choose the fruit tea as a slice of big grapefruit will be served as well. Though it doesn't taste anything like tea, the Orange juice is not bad.

Carrot and asparagus soup

what this restaurant has done extremely well is that the chef is generous in using the original food but not just give a few and result in plain taste. The carrot and asparagus soup is thick and rich in flavour as you can see some small dices of carrot inside without sour tasteFried cos fish fillet

Umm... this one is just so-so. As the fillet is thin and small as well as a bit overcooked that you can hardly cut it, this one is not recommended then and just gets a bare pass.Creme brulee:

Oh! yes this one is so yummy and reached hotel level. A few bites can finish it so I would like to have an encore of the Creme brulee!

The dining environment is also quite cosy and spacious but it would be better if the room between each table is larger.

one thing that I have to point out is the food delivery. The food came really really SLOW..........like a turtle.......The first dish came 20 mins after the order while all dishes only came in an hour......Usually the customers come to the restaurant when they are hungry enough and may lose patience if the food arrives that SLOW.........

It seems there are not many chefs in the open kitchen but they do need to improve this point if they want to have a better reputation and attracts more customers.

Moreover, this restaurant tries to position like a slightly high class western restaurant but one waitress here talks like the one in Chinese cha Chan ten as she talks so loud and addresses the customers as "Leng nui, Leng jai" which sounds so weird.....I expected to come here and enjoy a pleasant dining but not in a mood to feel like yum cha place please....
