It's been a while since I last visited The Trafalgar Brewing Company. Although I had quite an awful experience last time, I believe every restaurant deserves a second chance. This time I thoroughly re-examined the restaurant according its ambience, food and services.The restaurant looked incredibly relaxing on a quiet Saturday. You can either choose to sit inside for traditional vibes of a sports bar or sit outside for a casual meal.Sitting inside this time made me realise how cool it was to dine in a sports bar. I'm not a big fan of alcoholic, but it was pretty cool surrounded by those bottles. I could totally see why soccer fans love watching soccer matches at a sports bar instead of watching it at home. It's all about the vibes.As a brewing company, they have their own brewing machines. I'm sure it feels good to have freshly brewed beer, but sadly I'm not a fan of beer and thus I didn't try any of it.Peanuts

Apart from the drinks, tasty peanuts are essential to any sports bar. It was fantastic to have these crunchy peanuts before having anything. Although peanuts were a simple snack, it actually created a beautiful beginning for my friend and I.Lime Soda

My friend chose to have a refreshing lime soda to beat the hot and humid weather. It was as refreshing as he expected and therefore he was very happy with it. Fruit Punch

I just went for one of my favourites - fruit punch. The fruit punch was very fruity and refreshing with a nice citrusy flavour. Smoked Salmon Salad

I was already happy just to look at its presentation. Wasn't it gorgeous with all the colourful fruits and greens putting altogether in a salad? It not only looked pretty, but it was also fresh and delicious. The smoked salmon was at its finest. It was neither too fatty nor too lean with a firmed texture and a beautiful smokiness. The sweetness of the sliced apples and oranges well balanced the slightly tangy salad dressing. The mixed greens and cherry tomatoes were very fresh and they went very well with the smoked salmon and fruits. Mixed Seafood Gambas

I loved how generous they were giving us such a big plate of mixed seafood gambas. Every single seafood was fresh and perfectly cooked. It is never easy to cook seafood especially squids and mussels. They can easily become rubbery if you overcook it. The white wine sauce was light enough not overpower the sweetness of the seafood. The touch of parsley added a nice fragrance to the dish. The chilies were the icing on the cake to spice up the entire dish nicely. U.S Prime Rib Eye

I was already half full after having the seafood gambas, but I couldn't stop myself from trying this gorgeous looking rib eye. It was a perfect medium rare steak. It was firmed on the outside, but mostly pink on the inside. I was very surprised to find how juicy it was. It tasted delicious with or without traditional gravy. Apart from the steak, the potato wedges were equally tasty. It was very crispy on the outside, but very soft on the inside with a nice creamy texture. Homemade Chocolate Cake

Honestly, we didn't plan to have dessert since we were super full. However, their staff highly recommended us to try out their signature dessert - homemade chocolate cake. I'm glad we decided to have it at the end. It was the highlight of our dinner. The ice-cream was silky smooth with a rich chocolaty flavour. The cake itself was equally chocolaty. The best way to have this dessert was to mix the ice-cream, the cake and the custard sauce altogether. It was simply divine!!!

I was truly impressed how much this restaurant has changed from awful to wonderful. It was a nice place with a traditional sports bar style. The restaurant was causal and relaxing made it a nice place to chit-chat with friends especially on a quiet day. The food was simply amazing this time. I could see how much effort the restaurant has put into improving their food quality to meet customer satisfaction. Last but not least, their service was prompt and outstanding. They treated their customers nicely with a polite manner and they put a high priority on customer satisfaction.

Walking pass Outback, I just realised I have never tried it before. How ridiculous it is!!! Obviously, I just had to give it a go this time.Bread

Serving us bread as a free appetizer is always a good idea, especially a friend of mine is a big fan of bread. I always give credit to those restaurants in which they keep their bread warm, so big thumbs up to Outback. Although the bread wasn't crispy enough on the outside, but definitely soft enough on the inside. It had a rich wheat taste in it which my friend and I adored. It was delicious with or without butter in my opinion. Queensland Salad

I chose Queensland Salad over other salads they offer simply because it is something different from what I usually eat. I'm glad it didn't disappoint me. There were heaps of fresh and delicious ingredients in the salad including mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, shredded cheese, bacon, croutons, diced chicken and cucumber. I chose honey mustard salad dressing to go with this salad and it did go very well with the salad. Not only the salad was fresh, but it was also very rich in flavour especially the crispy bacon added a nice salty flavour to balance off the sweetness of the honey mustard dressing. No Rule Pasta

I seriously had no idea why they name this pasta as "No Rule Pasta", but my friend and I found it interesting and thus ordered it at the end. It was basically fettuccine with shrimps and chicken in creamy sauce. Honestly, it wasn't as good as we expected. The shrimps and chicken were ok. I didn't have much to comment. However, the fettuccine wasn't al dente enough and the creamy sauce was little too thick. Also, the major downside was the taste. The chef didn't season the pasta with enough salt. Pineapple Sunshine

Once I saw Pineapple Sunshine, I couldn't resist the temptation of ordering it since I'm fond of pineapple. Surprisingly, there wasn't even a hint of pineapple taste at all. In fact, it tasted exactly like fruit punch. Although there wasn't any pineapple taste in it, I still liked it because of how refreshing it was.

Overall, it was ok. The portion was big and there wasn't something which I could badly criticize or highly recommend.

My friend and I had no plan coming here, but we bumped into one of their staff promoting their restaurant on the street and we were way too tired to decide what to eat. Therefore, we came here with no expectation at all.

We were a bit scared at first as the staff led us to a basement which looked slightly mysterious. Glad we found it pretty decent once we arrived the restaurant.Papadum

This restaurant served us papadum as a free appetizer just like other Indian restaurants usually do. However, they served us more than just papadum and mint sauce. They actually gave us two pickles as well. One was sour and another one was salty. The sour one was pickled onions and carrots. It actually tasted pretty good if you were into sour stuff. I have no idea what that salty one was. It was very salty and I'm sure it wasn't something which everyone would love it. I was ok though. The papadum was crispy with a peppery taste. It tasted pretty good and went very well with the slightly spicy mint sauce.Mango Lassi

Mango lassi is almost a must for me to order whenever I'm eating in an Indian restaurant. Obviously, I did order one this time. Honestly, it was the best mango lassi I've ever had so far. The mango taste of it was extremely rich which actually made me feel like I was having a real mango. Also, it was very creamy and smooth. However, it was thicker than the normal one which I had no compliant at all because it was exactly the consistency I've been looking for. Overall, it was simply divine. Seasonal Vegetables

The seasonal vegetables were basically stir fried veggies and carrots with garlic. I asked what those greens were and they told me that they were broccoli. To be honest, it didn't taste like the kind of broccoli we usually eat. I couldn't tell what it was, but it tasted very refreshing with a nice garlic fragrance. Totally loved it! Prawn Malai Curry

Sorry, I didn't take apicture of the prawns. They were pretty big and very fresh tasted nothing like those frozen prawns you eat from some restaurant. Although it was pretty tasty, there were only 4 prawns in this dish. I wish they could give us more prawns! Apart from the tasty prawns, the malai curry gravy was definitely the highlight of the dish. It was thick and creamy with a rich coconut milk taste. If you were into coconut milk, you will definitely love this dish. It wasn't spicy also and thus it was perfect for those who can't handle spicy stuff. Naan

Before I actually tasted the naan, I really liked how hot the nann was. The bottom part of the naan was crispy and very soft on the inside. It also went very well with the prawn malai curry. Yummm!

We were very satisfied with all the dishes and drinks we ordered this time and hope to try out more of their dishes next time.

I saw The Trafalgar Brewing Company was hitting top 30 in the restaurant chart of Open Rice a little more than a week ago. It somehow initiated my interest in trying out their food. My friend and I got nothing much to do yesterday and thus we especially came here to give this restaurant a go.Virgin Pina Colada

My first impression of this Virgin Pina Colada was "what the heck they were doing with the Pina Colada?". Two third of the Pina Colada was basically bubbles, so it meant that I paid $89 for only one third of the Pina Colada. How ridiculously expensive it was!!! Why didn't they name it "Bubble Pina Colada" then? Its portion and price already shocked me enough and I couldn't believe that it was just a terrible beginning. The worst part was the taste of it. The rum was way too overpowering that I couldn't taste anything, except rum. It completely covered the taste of coconut milk and pineapple juice which I supposed to taste. I must say it was the worst Pina Colada I've ever had.

Iced Lemon Tea

There wasn't anything special about the iced lemon tea, it tasted just like the regular iced lemon tea we usually drink. So, I didn't have much to comment. Chef's Salad

There were boiled egg, cherry tomatoes. mixed greens, mushrooms and fennels in the salad and a red wine vinegar dressing on the side. I wouldn't say the salad ingredients were extremely fresh, but it was ok. The red wine vinegar dressing on the side was ok as well, but I didn't think the taste of it match the salad perfectly. In fact, I think honey mustard dressing or balsamic vinegar would be a better salad dressing for this salad. Homemade Pizza with Parma Ham, smoked Salmon Onions

Customers are free to choose three toppings from their topping list. We chose parma ham, smoked salmon and onions for the homemade pizza. It looked pretty decent to be honest, but the taste was horrible. I couldn't taste anything, except an extreme saltiness and smelly smoked salmon. The pizza base was equally horrible. It wasn't thin and crispy at all. In fact, it tasted like some sort of toasted white bread instead of pizza.Banana Split

We chose to order one of the safest desserts which we thought there shouldn't be anything wrong with banana split. Unfortunately, they couldn't even make a simple dessert to taste ok. It was overly sweet which we felt like having sugary syrup instead of banana split.

I didn't know if we ordered something wrong or what, the food and drinks we had this time were a completely disaster. I don't think I'll come back unless they have a great improvement.

As a friend of mine knew how much I've been craving for pizza lately, she highly recommended me to try out the pizza from Jacomax. Glad she was a bit free this afternoon and therefore we both came here for lunch.I can be a bit boring when it comes to having pizza. I tend to order pizza with salami or sausage since I love its rich flavour. Hence, I ordered a regular size of T-Rex pizza which had tomato, sausage, ham, mozzarella cheese and spicy salami to share. I didn't even notice a regular size was actually 12". It was quite large for 2 people to share, but that was the smallest size they had. Anyway, 12" pizza for $143 was indeed very cheap. Its size and price already well captured my attention, but its flavour stole my heart. It was rich with just the right amount of cheesiness. As mozzarella cheese wasn't very strong in taste, it actually made the flavour of sausage, ham and spicy salami to stand out. I must say the chef did a decent job on matching the right ingredients for the pizza. Apart from its outstanding flavour, the pizza base was equally outstanding. It was thin and crispy exactly what I was looking for.We both coincidentally wanted to ordered a pasta after having a delicious pizza. So, we ordered onion and tuna spaghetti. We expected the spaghetti would taste as good as the pizza. However, it was slightly disappointing than we expected . Well, the texture of the spaghetti and the flavour of it weren't bad though. It was al dente and had a rich sweet onion flavour. What made us feel slightly disappointed was the oiliness. It was too oily to be honest. Also, there was only few small tuna pieces in the pasta. I would recommend them to add some more tuna pieces to enhance its flavour.

I would say Jacomax is quite an expert in terms of making pizza, but they better take care of other dishes also in order to make their customers satisfied.

For some reason, I have never tried any burgers from Hard Rock Cafe. Today seemed to be perfect to try out their burgers.Since I'm a big fan of mushroom, I ordered a mushroom and Swiss cheese burger. The beef patty was perfectly cooked. It had a rich meaty taste and very juicy. Although there was no burger sauce in the burger, the melted Swiss cheese and flavourful sliced mushrooms well kept the burger moist. Speaking of the melted Swiss cheese and flavourful sliced mushrooms, they both went very well with the burger and greatly enhanced the taste of it. I was more the satisfied with the burger.

The fries on the side were perfectly flavoured with just right amount of salt. They were very crispy and had a rich potato taste. The garlic bread on the side was crispy on the outside and soft on the side with quite a rich garlic flavour, but it wasn't hot enough.

Before I talked about the pasta, I really had to say I have never been a fan of sausages. However, the sliced Italian sausages in this pasta really impressed me. I loved how these sausages were loaded with herbs. I didn't know what herbs they used, but I definitely liked the taste of it. The pasta was perfectly al dente, but I found the tomato pasta sauce that went with the pasta wasn't anything special. It somehow made me slightly disappointed.

It's been a few months since I last came to Mals's Fusion Cuisine, so I decided to come here again to see whether they can keep up with the quality of their food. 

I couldn't believe their boss still remembered me even we haven't seen each other for quite a few months. He was still as nice and friendly as before. He greeted me and my friend with a big smile on his face. What a great feeling!!! As usual, they served us with papadum as a free appetizer. It was crispy, but slightly spicier than what I tried before. It was yummy! Then, we had a crab meat salad with mango. The portion of it was as big as before. It had sliced cucumbers, sliced mangoes, cherry tomatoes, mixed greens and crab meat in it. All the ingredients were very fresh. I couldn't believe how fresh the crab meat tasted actually. It's hard to find restaurants which serve fresh crab meat nowadays. The sliced mangoes also gave me quite a surprise. I knew the mangoes were not in season, but it actually tasted sweeter than I thought it would be. Also, the mango salad dressing went very well with the entire salad. It was sweet and sour in taste made the salad even more appetizing! After having the salad, we decided to try something new. Therefore, we ordered a sausage pepperoni pizza with a squid ink base. I really adored how brave they were to add squid ink pizza base to their lovely new menu. Right before they served us with the pizza, we already smelled the pizza. It was full of cheese, sausages and pepperoni. It tasted very cheesy and yummy. I was really surprised that I could actually taste the squid ink from the pizza base. You know sometimes restaurants advertise how tasty their squid ink pasta is, but I could never taste the squid ink. But, this squid ink pizza base totally amazed me with its flavourful squid ink taste. However, I had a small complaint about the crispiness of the pizza. It wasn't crispy enough. Overall, it was still a delicious pizza. For some reason, we both were really hungry last night. So, we ordered prawn cakes with corns. The prawn cakes were full of fresh prawn meat and tasted so delicious with the corns. However, it wasn't firmed enough.At the end, we ordered mango lassi to end our dinner. I really admired their boss to take his time out to draw a smiling face and a heart on the mango lassi. It seriously made us very happy!!! The mango lassi was thick, creamy and cold with a strong mango taste. Totally loved it!!!

My friend and I were very satisfied with their service and food overall. I will keep coming back for more

My friend and I came here to see what the hype was all about this resturant. I was surprised to see how cozy it was when stepping into the restaurant. It had several beautiful paintings on the wall to create artistic and relaxing vibes.Two small buns were served before the actual lunch. I loved how hot the buns were, especial they were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. These buns were made with herbs, but I didn't know which herbs they used (maybe rosemary). I think the chef could add some more herbs to make it taste even better.There were lots of mixed mushrooms in this dish and they were perfect sautéed. The mixed mushrooms were definitely the focal point of this dish added a beautiful texture to the pasta. The linguini well absorbed the rich mushroom flavour. However, it was slightly overcooked and thus it wasn't al dente enough. Although this pasta dish was called linguini with mixed mushrooms and diced ham, I couldn't find any hams in it for some reason. Anyway, the garnishing asparaguses were alright. I had nothing much to comment.Don't be fooled by the picture. The original chicken kebab was in fact really small. We felt like costing us HKD$118 for two small chicken kebabs were a rip-off. It was more like a snack. Anyway, it had quite a lot of diced tandoori chicken filled inside and the tortilla was pretty crispy. It sounded like a dream come true, but the taste of it was a bit bland and lack of spices to enhance its flavour. The good thing was the peachy sauce on the side. It was sweet and sour in taste...Indeed very appetizing!!!

After having both the dishes, we found the restaurant didn't live up the hype at all. In fact, it was disappointing! Hope to see some improvements in the future!

For some reason, I have never tried Dan Ryan's before. My friend and I thought we should give it a go. We already booked a table for two in advance to avoid waiting in a long queue.Not long after we made an order, the staff has immediately served us a basket of breads and walnut muffins. Both the breads tasted pretty standard. However, the muffins tasted surprisingly good. I'm not a fan of walnut muffins. However, these muffins were very moist and not overly sweet. The chopped walnut has given the muffins a great texture. Seriously, I couldn't stop munching.We started to have a bit of expectation since we had delicious muffins. We simply hoped the salad would taste as good as the muffins. We only ordered a small size of Gold Coast salad, but the portion turned out to be pretty big. It had tomatoes, chicken, feta cheese, red onions, diced ham, bacon, granted boiled egg and mixed greens in it. We chose honey mustard dressing for the salad. All the ingredients were very fresh and did go pretty well with the dressing. I wouldn't say the Gold Coast salad was outstanding, but it was ok.Apart from the salad, we ordered a cheese burger to share. Once again, the portion was quite big. The burger bun was soft and slightly warm. The beef patty was having quite a rich meaty taste, but it was over-cooked and not juicy enough. Although the cheese was slightly melted, it didn't help make the burger moist especially there was no burger sauce in it. It was seriously dry. The fries were equally disappointing!!! It wasn't even warm and crispy. What I liked the most in the main course were the cucumber pickle and coleslaw. The cucumber pickle was neither too sour nor too sweet. It was perfect to help balance the richness of the burger. The coleslaw was really refreshing. It actually went very well with the burger.How can we have a meal without having dessert? We ordered our classic favourite - tiramisu. We were shocked when the waiter served us a gigantic tiramisu. It was the highlight of our meal for sure. It was silky smooth, rich and creamy. The coffee taste of the tiramisu was just right and not overly sweet. Perfect!!!

It's always to good to have Indian food, especially I haven't had it for quite a long time. Therefore, my friend and I decided to try Basmati. It only took us few mins walking from Sheung Wan MTR station to Basmati. How convenient it was! Another big plus about Basmati was their sign. We already saw their sign from far away as it was bright and colourful.Although we decided to have dinner this time, I think it would be a good idea to try their lunch buffet as well. It only costs $88. Honestly, I couldn't believe how cheap it is.Indian cuisine is known for using different spices to cook and hence it was an awesome feeling to look at these spices photos hanging on the wall.I believe Basmati is an Indian family style resturant because of their interior design and decorations. You easily find Indian pictures on the wall. It not only characterised Basmati as an Indian restaurant, but also made the restaurant more interesting to the diners who are from different backgrounds. Apart from that, it was also a cozy and spacious restaurant. Not long after we sat down, their staff instantly served us their complimentary appetizers. The appetizers were papadum and vegetarian spring rolls accompanied with mint sauce and tamarind sauce. As the complimentary appetizers were free, so I didn't expect much from it. Surprisingly, the spring rolls were very hot. It looked like it just came out from the frying pan. Both the sauces matched the appetizers very well.I found the mushroom soup very different from the mushroom soup we usually have from the western restaurants. It looked creamy, but it wasn't creamy or heavy at all. It was quite refreshing actually. It tasted like a soup made with dal (lentils) and mushroom with a hint of coriander taste to it. Interesting!They used sliced tomatoes, onions, carrots, lettuces and cucumbers seasoned with salt, pepper and salad oil to make this salad. All of the ingredients were very fresh. It wasn't a fancy salad, but I found it light and can be a good salad before loading up with heavy dishes.I couldn't find samosa chaat on the menu, but the boss was kind enough to make one for us. Samosa chaat was basically an Indian street food. They quartered the samosa and put diced tomatoes and red onions on top of the samosa with mint sauce, tamarind sauce and yogurt drizzled on top. Then, they sprinkled chaat spice on top of the samosa. The samosa chaat they made was really delicious. The samosa itself was hot and crispy. It had a rich potato taste which I adored. The amount of spices and sauces they put was neither too much nor too less . It was perfect enough to enhance the taste of samosa. The entire dish was absolutely flavourful!!!Since mango lassi is always one of my favourite drinks, I couldn't resist the temptation to order one for myself. I was so glad that it didn't disappoint me. The consistency was thick, but it wasn't way too thick to make you feel uncomfortable. It was creamy and had a strong mango taste in it. The more I drank, the more I liked it. Honestly, it was one of the best mango lassi I've ever had.I was so surprised to find out the chicken they used to make butter chicken was tandoori chicken. Using tandoori chicken to make the butter chicken was right up my alley as I'm always a big fan of tandoori chicken. How cool it was to have two dishes in one dish without the need to order tandoori chicken separately! The chicken was so tender and it tasted like the chicken it just came out from the clay oven. The gravy was absolutely fantastic. It was sweet with a hint of spiciness and went very well the naan. Although the gravy was creamy, it wasn't too heavy to stop you from having other dishes.They cut one naan into 3 pieces. I just had one piece and already felt so full. I found their naan was much more filling than the naan I had from other restaurants. Their naan wasn't bad, but it was a bit chewy. I think they can make it a bit crispier at the bottom and softer on the inside.My friend was pretty sick that night and their boss recommended him to have masala tea. He actually really liked it and felt a bit better after having the tea. The proportion of the tea and the milk was perfect enough to make it soothing and smooth for one to drink. The spices of the tea made it very aromatic and helped stimulate blood circulation. It was a great drink to end the night.It was good to see their beautiful spice box they provided to freshen our breathe, but we didn't try it at all.

Final thoughts

Overall, it was a great dining experience. Their staff and boss were incredibly friendly and polite. They always had a nice smile on their faces and refilled the water for us frequently. Their boss asked whether we satisfied with the dishes we ordered from time to time. He also took his time out to talk to us. Need not to mention again, their restaurant was spacious and clean. Their food was decent and more than I expected. I'll definitely come back to try other dishes next time.
