Tried this new burger place in IFC mall.  Overall conclusion is that it is so so.  Beef and Liberty or even Triple O burgers taste better.

The decor:  nothing spectacular.
The staff:  friendly enough and were quite helpful in answering questions
The food:  we tried the Big Fernand and the Bartholome.  The Bartholome had caramelized onion and BBQ sauce which overpowered the taste of the thin meat patty.  The Big Fernand had some cheese and chopped vegatable over a thin patty and tasted a little better.  In both burgers I could not really tell if the meat was any good since the cheese and/or the sauce were so dominating.  We tried the fries as well and again they were only so so.  

 

The place:  great atmosphere, very casual, and tables are comfortably spaced

The service:  very friendly staff.  Our waiter explained the different dishes on the menu and made some recommendations that were excellent

The food:  very flavorful and good portions!  The short ribs were absolutely amazing.  The chicken was juicy and excellent.  All the dishes we had were very good.

Overall a very pleasant dining experience and I will definitely go back soon.

The place:  casual bench-sharing place with high ceiling 

The service:  self-service but the staff at the counter were friendly enough

The food:  tried the Big Boi and the BBQ sandwich trays.  The pulled pork was flavorful and quite tasty.  The BBQ sandwich was good as well.  Their fries were like the steak fries I had during my college days, which were ok but nothing special.  The ribs were quite dry and not that flavorful, and their coleslaw was I think just very finely chopped cabbage mixed with some BBQ type sauce which made it a bit weird.

Overall it was ok but probably won't go back again. 

I have always wanted to try Gold so went there for dinner for the first time. Overall the place, the service, and the food were all fine but on the whole not as good as expected.

The place - not bad. Tables are reasonably spaced apart but the decoration is a cross between 90s USA west coast trendy chic and New York night club look. The protruding sets of concentric circles on the ceiling have a retro feel but would probably look better if the room had higher ceiling.

The staff - the young lady at the door who showed us to the table was slightly spaced out but the rest of the staff was fine. Service was not bad but not exceptional either.

The food - we tried the tasting menu with 5 courses (for $880 each). The foccacia bread that came before everything else was extremely good - fresh out of the oven with nice sun-dried tomatoes on top. The first course was pork with burrata on some fruit salad...a bit of a weird dish that was a bit watery. The second course was white asparagus with egg yolk which had a wonderful smoky flavor and was very good. Course number 3 was angle hair with clams which was very ordinary and some clams actually had sand in them! This was probably the most disappointing dish of the night. The fourth dish was the main course which was sea bass. The fish was very nice and tender but it had some very sweet puree on top which overpowered the fresh flavor of the fish. On the whole it was ok - the cuttlefish and potato that came with it were very tasty. The final dish was a chocolate and hazelnut mousse cake which was quite wonderful.

Hmmm...it was a reasonably pleasant meal but might be a while before I go back.

Went to this new Spanish restaurant for dinner. Overall the experience was ok but thought it was a bit pricey for the quality and quantity of food. They do have some interesting tapas such as mini oyster sandwich and foie gras with fried egg and mushroom (both were very tasty), but the portions were quite small. Even main dishes were not big at all. We tried the Spanish noodle, which came in a big pan, but for $488 you get 5 small strips of pork loin (which were delicious) and two small bowls of noodle (which looked like Chinese braised rice vermicelli and not much taste). On the plus side, the staff was very friendly and the place was quite nice. So overall it is a decent place but be prepared to spend a lot if you want to be full.

Overall it was a pleasant dining experience because the staff was friendly and the place was nice, but be prepared to have to order a lot if you want to be full.

Don't go to this restaurant, unless you want to have business lunch with someone where he has nothing to eat and all he can do is to talk business with you. For $140 for 2-course lunch, at least they can serve a bigger portion. The two of us need to buy a double hamburger from Mcdonalds after that....

My friend had a fish cake, and I had a rocket and tomato salad for appetizer. The diameter of a door handle is even larger than that of that SINGLE piece of fish cake, and you can count how many rocket leaves there are in my salad. My friend had lamb rack for main, and it was basically bones - no meat.

On 2nd thought, don't even go there for business lunch. You won't win a deal with a hungry business partner.
