It was around 4:00pm and this eatery was still so full with customers, such an auspicious sight often heralds something good coming in normal circumstances, but it wasn't the case for me yesterday. I waited a few minutes together with a few others with my numbered ticket in my hand, and finally got my seat in a round table with two other customers already dinning there.
 $97 I don't think they worth it
I went yesterday purposefully for the gems of this shop, namely the pork chop, the wine chicken, and the chrysanthemum drink, so natural enough I ordered them in one go. Many people may think $97 for a lunch set is a bit outrageous in a humble eatery and district as Yuen Long, but for someone who has a craving for good foods so much as me, good foods will always be something to die for, let alone a few notes in the wallet.
the taste of wine and salt only
The shop was really busy but they managed to put the first thing on my table within five minutes time, well done! But the foods they offered were not quite on par with it's fame to be frank. The wine chicken's skin was quite crispy, refreshing texture without feeling mushy and oily, it is a cold dish with the compelling fragrance of wine was very appealing at first sight, but alas the meat of the chicken was tastless. "Don't jump on it too soon it's only the breast!", I told myself, so I moved on to give a piece of chicken leg a go, and then the mid wing, and then......before I reached my conclusion that nothing improved. Chicken without the taste of chicken, then what's it?
bloody red marrow in a take away box
The wine chicken as its name indicates is steeped in wine, and I could tell there are brine (salt water) too. But shouldn't something as raw chicken blood be avoided? As the chicken pieces were not fully cooked, the bone marrow was still blood clotted and some of those blood had unavoidably trickled down and blend with the wine to give the wine a pink color. May look disgusting for some, though not very much so for me.
the taste of chicken powder and garlic powder only
I hoped the pork chop would be better, and indeed there were tastes at last, but not the taste of pork itselt, but rather that of the marinade. I could actually tell they used two kinds of marinade, one was the chicken powder, and the other was garlic powder, and meat tenderizer of course a must to boost texture. Might be savoury for some palatte but definitely not me, I'm not the one going after the taste of marinade only, and again I asked myself, "Pork without the taste of pork, then what's it?"
 the best of the meal
The lukewarm chrysanthemum drink was a sort of veritable that afternoon, not too sweet with great taste of the ravishing flower, certainly boosted my spirit and to some extent was a reproach to the food I had had.

This little eatery is famous for its rice noodle, it locates in an old district of Kowloon with a lot of old style businesses around. When I arrived yesterday afternoon, a dozen of customers were already there.
the menu
interior facing entrance
I sat down by the side of the wall, a waitress in red tee served me, I tried to ask her the things on the menu, and her attitude and response gave me the impression that I should have known all that and so should not ask her anymore! Finally I ordered a rice noodle with a sort cured meat (five pieces) in satay soup base, a dish of deep fried fish cakes, and a bottle of cold LuoHanGuo drink.
 whole set of lunch
 deep fried fish cakes
The items nearly all arrived at the same time, there were some shredded vegetable and wood ear fungus on top of the noodle, the noodle were in a quantity enough for two, but it was tastless without even a tiny bit of rice fragrance no matter how long you put it inside your mouth and chewed it, worse still, the texture is the most peculiar that I have ever experienced of edible stuffs, it was larger in diameter than ordinary rice noodle, very velvet in texture, and got a spongy and elastic feeling in your mouth when chewed, in a nutshell, it was the sort of feeling of putting some synthetic building material in your mouth, eerie! The satay soup was a thrifty amount of satay diluted in water, scare you away even you are very hungry. The five pieces of cured meat tasted no better than a $10 per packet chicked frank from cold meat shop.
 LuoHanGuo Drink
interior facing inside
The fish cakes were deep fried savoury food made of fish mousse, albeit without much taste of fish that day, the two pieces in triangular shape were the worst. The LuoHanGuo drink stood out as the star of that afternoon, very refreshing with intense taste of the chinese medicinal fruit!

With a group purchase coupon I visited this Japanese restaurant yesterday. They are famous for the black pork from Japan.
super dim interior
The meal set consists of a soft drink, salad, soup, rice, and a big plate with shredded veggies and pieces of deep fried breaded sweet potatoes, fish fillet, stuffed mushroom, shrimp, and of course the black pork on it.
 super small salad
I hate soft drink and I actually ordered a cup of water instead. The salad was the smallest one could imagine but tasted quite OK and was fresh enough, there were tiny pieces of raw salmon and octopus in it.
 Japanese rice nothing special
The soup was salty and looked quite horrendous as there were pieces of fatty animal skin and tissues floating on it. The bowl of rice is claimed to come from Japan alas I could find nothing special about it, quite chewy in texture but no rice fragrant at all.
Only 2 pieces of black pork
The deep fried items were all unimpressive, the famous black pork really tasted not bad but definitely will not be any better than those coming fresh from any ordinary wet market or supermarket in town. The breadcrumbs on top the deep fried items were very crunchy and crumby, dissolved in mouth at once, again claims to be coming from Japan.
 sesame for black pock
 a menu for preparing paste
Remember don't dip the black pork into the paste specially prepared for it, except you want to drown out the taste of the black pork totally. Supplementary Information: Only two very small pieces of black pork. Table Wait Time: 0 minute(s)

Hello, It was indeed not my first visit to this Better Ole in Sheung Shui, but the dinner yesterday had only end my infatuation to it. Perhaps only after comparison would one really know the “Better” and the worse. I ordered a dinner which consisted of the followings: 1. 酥皮焗奶油湯 2.紐西蘭肉眼扒配薯菜 3.Cold coffee Let’s first talk about the environs of the restaurant, the first thing that came to my senses was the stench of the carpet inside the dingy surrounding, although the cleanliness of the furniture and dinning utensils were still ok. I made my ordering at once knowing that it wouldn’t be a balmy environment to stay for long. The service was ok as the waitress explained quite patiently for the different sizes and thickness…etc of the steaks that I had kept asking for. The first item 酥皮焗奶油湯 came after a few minutes after ordering, the 酥皮eclipsing the soup was supposed to be crispy, wasn’t it? But it was more like a layer of bread and worse still it was tasteless to neither my tongue or nose. The soup itself was nothing better, it was not thick enough like creamy water albeit the vegetables inside were quite crispy fresh. The steak looked very potent at first but the infatuation ended right after the first mouthful of anything on the dish. The steak didn't taste like the meat of a cow, it was literally tasteless to be frank. The vegetables on the dish such as the carrots are much overcooked in order to decimate the vitamins inside, only a few small lumps of potatoes could be found on the dish which were supposed to be your last meal before breakfast next morning. I kept on eating only because I didn't want to feel hungry and I needed the energy to walk back home safely! Courtesy will never be a problem in the restaurant, the waitress which had made my ordering even asked me how did the steak taste, and I told her the truth for the welfare of gourmets coming after me, considerate enough right? Supplementary Information: Last but not least, the manager I supposed to be by dressing even greeted me goodbye at the entrance, and in return I bid him a fond farewell! Recommended Dish(es):

Hello everyone, Tsuen Wan is a very familiar place to me since I’ve spent 7 years of secondary school life there, it is a place full of reminiscences of my school days. My school is literally no more than 150m from the shop that I had my lunch this afternoon.
Interior
The shop bears a lengthy name 台灣小倆口三明治專賣店,it was around lunch time and at the time I arrived it had already been quite busy inside. There are altogether 4 staffs taking care of the shop, 3 wearing green uniforms working in the kitchen and as cashier, and 1 old woman serves the foods to 3 very small tables here and there inside the shop, 2 small tables are even placed outside the shop. I was very lucky indeed getting a seat inside with comfortable air conditioning, although sharing the table with a stranger.
Seats outside looking from my seat inside
I ordered a cup of 凍特調咖啡($7), 肉松蛋餅($15), 總裁牛肉蛋堡($26), the coffee is half-priced with purchase of $10 or more. The coffee came after about 8 minutes and an additional 7 minutes for the foods to come. They are all very nice and polite peoples, they won’t forget to smile when they talk to customers even in such rush hour of their business, so I won’t complain anything about their service.
Yummy, but too small a cup!
 Dessert no.1
 Dessert no.2
The first mouthful of coffee was unforgettable, the fragrant was so compelling, together with the right amount of milk the overall texture was so thick and silky, first rate item! Unfortunately, the 2 late comers really disappointed me! The egg cake was alright with the egg wrapping but the pork fiber inside was really too sweet, I would indeed put it into the dessert category to be served after the main course if it were a western restaurant! The beef burger with fried egg was no better, the beef was a few millimeters thicker than what you could find in McDonald’s Big Mac but it definitely taste no better, worse still, the tomato relish in the burger was again too much sweetened. I think I am more on the side of a purist when it comes to food’s original taste, if one could sweeten tomato dressing to such a horrendous extent why didn’t they just put in some honey in place of the tomato in the first place? It’s quite a nightmare and peculiar feeling for anyone to have an "All Desserts" lunch set, and above all it’s of no good to anybody’s health! Supplementary Information: Ironically the half-priced coffee is the best of the three I've tried that day. Until they are willing to spend less on sugar, for the sake of health I won't visit any more. Recommended Dish(es):
