We came here for a lazy weekend lunch. We had heard great things and were hungry, so were pleasantly surprised to find it nearly empty and we were seated immediately, in the middle of the restaurant. We asked to move beside the window but were told it was only for groups of 4. It seemed unnecessarily strict as the place was empty except for 3 other tables, one of which left a few minutes after we arrived. And as they don't take reservations, it seemed they should be willing to seat people on a first-come-first-served basis, particularly as there were plenty of options for any newcomers. Just a small detail but it's not good to give the message that potential customers trump actual customers.

The space looks great with lots of natural light, but the chairs were hard and the acoustics terrible. Sound bounced off all the hard surfaces and overall it was very noisy, creating a somewhat chaotic atmosphere. Not relaxing.

Service was fine and polite, with servers outnumbering customers. They were quick to refill glasses and to remove empty plates, but otherwise hung out a bit too idly, and did not venture to ask if we were enjoying our meals.

Food was nicely presented, fresh and clean tasting with good quality ingredients, but overall it was underwhelming.

The huevos rancheros arrived without cheese or sour cream - and the accompanying salsa, guacamole and black beans were bland and listlessly underdressed. The three palm-sized tortillas which came in a bamboo steamer were nice and soft, but likewise without much flavour. 

The three types of tacos we tried were all better than the eggs but still nothing special enough to get us to return. In particular, the avocado/bean/cheese taco was a let-down. The avocado was battered and deep-fried which was unexpected. The added texture did little to make up for the missing seasoning. Even the spicy items had no zing, and there were no condiments on the table. We realised later that this was because salsa was charged as an extra side. We would have appreciated a bit of advice, i.e. to order the extra salsa to customise the spice levels. 

On second thought: why wasn't the salsa offered for free? (Do burger joints charge for mayo, ketchup and vinegar? Or Italian restaurants charge for freshly grated parmesan, olive oil and basalmic vinegar?) At least offer a complimentary standard one, and then if there are special versions, then charge for those...

It was no treat. It was not horrible, but I would not recommend it. The drinks and food were overpriced for the small portions, and the lack of flavour drove us elsewhere afterward, to make up for the unsatisfying experience. We were still hungry but also not interested in spending any more money here. 

The guy greeting people at the door was very friendly to everyone he knew, lost his smile and charm for those he didn't while the owner stood inside and directed people to seating options. It felt like a screening process rather than a personal welcome. Both noticeably eyeballed guests up and down. Sure, all door people do this, subconsciously or not - but be more discreet about it!

Overall, the quality and portions do not justify the price tag.
We shared 7 chicken and fish items which were all decent enough but pretty unremarkable - except the corn tempura, which was really a delight.
Cocktails were heavy on ice and light on flavour (by third sip, the drinks were like watered down sodas) so we switched to standard drinks for the second round.

Service was generally attentive, lots of waitstaff.

Liked the music, but they blast it too loud. We had trouble hearing each other at a table for two which was smaller than the two's at McDonald's. It's not comfy, the spacing and bar stool seating seem to be designed for high turnover.

Overall, they pack it in tight with no elbow room, charge a lot for small portions, and reminded us no less than 6 times that service was not included (on the door, on the wall, on the menu, printed on the bill, as well as verbally when we were seated, and again when the bill was presented). Quite the hardscrabble request for cash.

No complaints about the food itself, but the business should trust what it offers, and not pester guests to subsidize the already fat mark-ups.

The price is about 40% too high for what is delivered.

Go if you've got money to burn.

We had 2 savoury crepes, 2 dessert crepes, shared a bottle of sweet cider.
The savoury crepes were better than the sweet ones but weren't cooked very well.
I expected them to be a bit more dry with a touch of crispy edges from the cheese.
The texture was a bit soggy.
Still hungry after my galette.

Ordered the limoncello crepe for dessert which was supposed to be served with passionfruit mango sorbet.
I was looking forward to the light fruity flavour mixed with tart lemon custard.
It arrived with a small ball of chocolate ice cream.
When I saw it, I asked te waiter if there was a mistake - I'd ordered the limoncello.
He apologised and said there was a problem withe kitchen - no more passionfruit ice, and he thought chocolat was a good combo with lemon.

I think restaurants should always let people know if they need to substitute something.
Especially chocolate instead of fruit!
I love chocolate, but the passionfruit was what made me order it.

The chocolate was too heavy, killed the rest of the flavours.
The lemon custard tasted old and stale like it had picked up some flavour from something else in the fridge.

The food was only so-so, service was ok, tables too close together though nice atmosphere.
Maybe they had an off night, but it was too expensive for the quality we got and I didn't feel satisfied by the food or the experience.

My friend was happy with his chocolate dessert crepe, but agreed it wasn't good value for the money.

Fast, cheap and good.
I've only had the dumplings but am never disappointed.
They have panfried and boiled options of 4 types: leek, kimchi, curried pork, and minced pork.
They're all good.
My faves are the panfried curry and panfried kimchi.
Nice slightly crispy texture.

Space is fun and kitschy.
Menu looks all right, and we'd heard good things but can't actually review the food because we never managed to eat there.

First time, walked in with 3 friends.
It wasn't full yet, but they said all the table were reserved (dinner).

Second time, went with one friend, again they were full - visibly so (dinner).

Third time, we arrived early for lunch - the place was nearly empty. Maybe 2 tables.
They asked if we had a reservation, which we didn't.
They checked their list, said ok - sat us down, gave us the menu, left, then came back and said - sorry made a mistake, this table is reserved.
Re-seated us elsewhere, took our drink order, and while we were deciding on food, came back again and told us actually that table was also reserved!
Meanwhile, the restaurant was nearly empty.
They apologized but it just seemed ridiculous.

That's just bad service and poor judgement about customer relations.

Tried to make a reservation by phone - nobody ever answered it.

In any case, went for lunch with a friend.
We both had the lunch set (108, add 48 for steak tartare, add 45 for dessert)

The waitress was friendly but needs some training in how to wait on tables.
Maybe she was a trainee? Seemed a bit unsure, nervous.
Also she didn't know some of the basic things on the menu.
One of the starters was "Aumoniere tomatoes with goat's cheese".
I asked her what that was, and she said "tomato with cheese."
But what does 'aumoniere' mean? How is it prepared?
Waitress: "tomato"
I was pretty sure it didn't mean tomato, but she was not prepared to say anything more or willing to find out.
Asked about 2 other items but she was really hesitant to offer any answers and we could see we weren't getting anywhere so we gave up and just ordered.

Steak tartare with fries (house specialty)

The onion soup was really really good.
The best part of the meal actually.
Nicely grilled cheese on the top, soup was perfect temperature when it arrived - hot but not scalding so you could dig in immediately.
Flavour was perfect.

The steak tartare was a bit of a letdown.
Texture and presentation were good but the meat had zero flavour.

Sole was ok, nothing special but nothing to complain about either.

We decided against dessert as we were both already full, but the chef came out and offered it to us anyway, which was very kind:
Strawberries and cream on a sable biscuit dusted with icing sugar and a sprig of mint
Dark chocolate mousse with pistachio sauce, garnished with crushed pistachio a single fresh raspberry and a sprig of mint

The biscuit was a bit too sweet
The choco mousse was good but a bit mild flavoured

Presentation of all dishes was good.
Service friendly but needs a bit of polish, especially learning what's on the menu!
Nice space.

Not bad for the money but not outstanding either.

We were in LKF and wanted something quick.
Ordered the "Bondi" burger - grilled chicken with bacon, avocado, tomatoe and garlic mayo - with fries and a drink.
Set meal 98 (78 for the burger on its own)
Plus an extra order of fries.
Total cost 118.
Originally ordered a salad but the look on her face when we asked told us it wasn't a good idea.

It's just a little kiosk with seating for 8 or so people, and there was only one person there cooking and doing the cash too.

She was friendly and pretty quick.

The burger was too heavy on the mayo, avocado seemed like it was off - black and overripe with no flavour or texture, just mush.
The fries were fine.
The ketchup was definitely rancid - tasted like someone had mixed red wine vinegar in it. Runny and sour.

It was definitely overpriced for what you got.
And afterward, the food sat in my belly like a lump.

Could be me, or could be the food.

In any case, would not recommend it.

Like Bon Vivant, I had higher expectations because the Habibi Cafe is so good.

We tried it because of a Groupon deal.
Even with the deal, it was way overpriced for the quality (flavour, presentation, quantity).
Food was ok, nothing to complain about but not worth returning either.
We had butter chicken, saag paneer and an eggplant dish (can't remember the name of it), rice and naan plus 2 draft and 3 bottled beers.

Another thing:
We had a reservation for 7, but I was a bit early.
I tried to order a drink but the server said the bartender wasn't there so I couldn't order yet.
He didn't come back until around 7 - guess what? Too late for happy hour!
I asked if they did frozen margaritas, and the server didn't know what that meant.
She went back and asked the bartender, and returned with "yes, no problem - frozen margaritas ok."
So I ordered a frozen mango margarita, which arrived in a suspicious watery slush state with a slice of mango garnish.
It tasted mostly like orange juice with a splash of alcohol, not mixed.
Definitely not a margarita and no mango flavour in the drink itself either.
Sent it back and stuck with beer afterwards.

Bill was still nearly $500 AFTER the $240 was deducted for the Groupon.

If you want Indian, I would forget Rana Raj and head to Bombay Dreams on 4F in the same building.
