Environment

The restaurant is small but the decoration is quite cosy. The theme is a train station as expected from the name of the shop. There is an open bar in which the noodles and drinks are prepared. The shop is also very clean.

Food

I have tried only a beef noodle (ho-fan). The beef with tendons is very good. There is also a separate plate of herbs (basil & lime) as condiments. I find the soup very sweet; other than that, the rest is fine. By the way, the chili is placed in a fridge before the waiter bring it to you. I quite like the idea (attention to detail).

Service

The service is quite okay.

Authentic! Just OK Aug 03, 2008

Envrionment:
The place is small and only for about 15 customers at one time. The decoration is very basic. I like the use of black-boards and chalk for the daily specials. However, the ventilation is very poor, a strong greasy odour even a man with a flu can smell.

Food: The fish is okay. The chips are very chunky which one can expect from a British restaurant. The availability of A-1, HP sauces and brown vineger is just perfect for the Britiish-styled dishes.

Service: The service is so-so. Not great and not bad.

Bonus: The Times and the News of the World are available.

If you like good food and enjoy nostalgic things, this is the restaurant for you. As there are not too many authentic Hong-Kong-styled cafes now, this one is sure one of the gems.

Food
I have tried cream and corn soup, chicken wings, fried 'ho fan' with beef. I would say the soup is the best. The taste is very original. The 'ho fan' is okay and the quality is not as good as Ho Hung Kee's.

Service
The service is barely satisfactory, but what can you expect from a cafe like Tai Ping Koon?

Environment
The cafe has two rooms; I suggest you to dine in the room inside. It is just more cosy and spacey. I espeically like the booth seats near the windows. the lace curtains are a plus to block the strong natural light. The decor is very original when compared with the TPKs in Central and Causeway Bay.

Conclusion
This is a good cafe both for foods and the atmosphere. We need to support it, otherwise, it will be gone.

Have a Coffee! Smile Nov 18, 2006

I love to have a cup of coffee here. The main attraction of this cafe is balcony seats! You can sip your coffee and enjoy the city view of Central at the same time. The staff are very friendly. The menu includes pasta, sandwiches, instant noodles... It is a pity that the food is only so-so.

I had tried the noodles and curry pork chop with rice in this cosy place. The noodle was just okay. The soup was so-so. In my opinion, the noodle in Domon is street ahead.

However, I found the curry pork chop with rice was very good as the pork chop was freshly fried.

I especially like the traditional Japanese decoration of the place a lot. I also found that the sake selection was attractive. You can find some uncommon sake here.

*I was surprised to find that the staff were playing 13-cards when I last visited the place. A no-no!
